Cannot fault the cottage it was beautifully presented to a high standard and was very comfortable, warm and cosy. It had everything we needed for our walking holiday. The shower was amazing and a welcome after some very wet days. Some of the photos are a little misleading though, there is no private garden and the lovely bench next to the river is actually across a road in front of the property. The area where it is situated lets it down a bit. The road that runs outside the property with parking adjacent - a dead end so no traffic noise but the view from the cottage is of some cars that have not moved for very long time. One neighbour has chickens, a cockerel, ducks and homing pigeons in their front garden, they also have a dog so there was some noise. Certainly worth the £400 paid but no more. The village itself is a typical mining village with lots of walks around the quarries, it also has a train station (just behind the cottage uphill) that the Ffestiniog Railway steam train will stop at at. We walked the 25 minutes or so to Blaenau Ffestiniog where the steam train starts it's journey, well worth a trip to Portmadog and back. Blaenau Ffestiniog is also where you will find the nearest shops such as a Co-op, McColls and Fish & Chips.
I spent a very comfortable week in this cottage. It is well renovated - very comfortable, cosy and with everything you need. A great, quiet location with good and fairly central access to the whole of Snowdonia. Would recommend and also consider staying again.
My wife and I would like to let you know what a wonderful time we had whilst staying at Moelwyn cottage.
We were amazed by the surrounding mountains and hill fog hovering above the summit, and the local scenery.
The cottage ticked all our boxes, clean, tidy and very cosy, we both felt at home.
Our stay was extremely relaxing we will definitely rebook your charming cottage.

Had a lovely weekend at the cottage. It was decorated beautifully and had everything we needed. It was super close to bounce below too and surrounded with places to walk. Also the owners left of leaflets in the house for us to choose any activities. Only thing that went wrong was we went when it was hurricane doris so lost power for one night (being the sticks of wales that can't be helped) but the owners were really helpful in giving us advice and checking we were ok and with the amazing fire we didn't care.
Would love to return again many thanks.
Great location for exploring with extremely helpful host. We had a great time with our 2 year old. Steam rail was great and there are lots of walking trails nearby.
Woodburner added a nice touch to our Christmas dinner.
