“An anniversary recommendation and now a honeymoon destination!”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Our trip to Peter Island was at the suggestion by our son and future daughter-in-law. My husband and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary however our son was also getting married shortly after our anniversary. We were considering celebrating later but our son's suggestion of going to Peter Island was too tempting. You see his endless research was also taking him there for his honeymoon! So if it all proved right, like most of these reviews and we fell in love with Peter Island...they would go there for their honeymoon!! Well... it was out of this world and we had most amazing time. From the moment we arrived it was paradise. We split our time between the oceanfront rooms and the beachfront rooms. It is true the beachfront rooms have such a different feel to them. We would certainly recommend them. We did what most do: All amazing: the island tour, White Bay, Deadmans Beach, the Spa, Snorkeling, Sunset Loop.....had amazing food. We went to the Managers Happy Hour hosted by Wilbur (general manager) and it gave us the opportunity to meet new couples that have since become lifelong friends! Wilbur was always so visable during our week. We went snorkeling with some of the people we had met and decided the following day to go on our own group charter. Donna and Jeanna (sp) at the front desk arranged it. Thank you. It was so much fun and we went to the Caves, the Baths, and other well known places!!! It was a day we will never forget. It's been 2 months now and now our son and his wife will visit paradise too after they get married on Saturday. We are so excited for them and we know first hand what a wonderful time they will have! If we hadn't listened to their suggestion we would have missed out on a such a wonderful vacation. We can't thank everyone at Peter Island for being such a pleasure to be around. It seemed like we were leaving family but will look forward to going back soon.

Peter Island Resort and Spa is a class act. We were welcomed with cool tropical drinks after our arrival via the St. Thomas ferry shuttle. We checked in and soon realized our toilet was leaking. Maintenance showed up quickly and confirmed the need for a replacement. Within minutes a manager called and upgraded us to Suite no charge for the entire week. Way to step up on solve a problem. The service didn't stop there, all week we were treated like royalty! We loved it!!!

Our SPA day was the best we ever had. We rented the private Bohio and had massages at the same time followed by lunch and then drinks with a fruit tray in the hot tub that's in the private room. It was over the top amazing.

Suggestions;

1) Get the all inclusive dining plan at least lunch and dinner. The food prices are high and it's nice not to even worry about it.

2) Spend the money for a Spa Day, it's fabulous.

3) Go to white bay beach, request hut 6 and snorkel. It's amazing off beach snorkeling.

4) Tour the Villa's. They are incredible. It's a fun couple hours!

5) Do a day trip to The Baths, Virgin Gorda! Awesome!

Have Fun and Relax! Peter Island Resort and Spa get's a Thumbs UP from us! We loved it.

Room Tip: If possible, Beach Front Jr. Suite.... So nice, private hammock and balcony

Eight days on peter island and all we did was beach, sail, snorkle, beach, eat, spa...A very romantic very laid back upscale place to which we will always return. If you get the BVI and the people there and you leave your attitude at home, you will meet the nicest people and relax like crazy at Peter. There are more food-focused places and the rooms are lower end of 5 star, the overall experience is the essence of a beach vacation.

My husband I traveled to Peter Island in August for our anniversary and absolutely LOVED it! We have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and we found Deadman's Beach to be one of the BEST! The sand is soft and the views are amazing. There were plenty of lounge chairs amongst the swaying palm trees. They also gave us a flag that we could raise when we wanted a drink. The whole island is absolutely stunning! We stayed in a beachfront suite and after seeing the set up of the island we are so glad that we splurged for the beachfront suites. Most of the ocean view suites only have a partial view. If you do stay in that section request to be on the point. The last two villas have the best views. We also heard that they are redoing the bathrooms in the ocean view rooms and that they will be completed by spring. Overall the beachfront room was great, but the location was superb! You can walk right out to the beach and the snorkeling in front of the beachfront suites by the rocks is wonderful. We stayed in a 2nd floor suite which provides more privacy. The rooms are not as perfect as Little Dix, but the views are much better.

The resort was only half full which made us feel like we had the place to ourselves. Even so, we tried to book a time at Honeymoon Beach and it was full. Try and book that on your first day so that you will be assured a time. White Bay was great but the huts need a little sprucing up. If you go, request hut #6 which is located right in front of the good snorkeling area. Snorkeling was beautiful here as well but when I went to far to the right I ran into jellyfish. All in all, we preferred to hang out at Deadman's Beach.

Food was wonderful...especially when given the fact that you're on a private island.
Julianna and Edward went the extra mile with great service. Captain was also a great bar tender/ server. Some of the other staff were not quite as warm and friendly but were cordial and polite.

The spa was nice but pricey. Be sure to go early or stay after your appointment so that you can take advantage of their amazing infinity pool and spa.

Definitely plan to do the sunset loop one night. If you're on the meal plan they bring you a cheese and fruit platter and beverage of choice to enjoy while watching the sunset.
Be sure to take advantage of the Peter Island Ferry for arrival and departure through St. Thomas! They walk you right through customs and make it so easy. Must arrive / depart on a Saturday or Tuesday.

Things that could improve...housekeeping was not consistent. We didn't have any turn down service the last two days. Don't bother with the full meal plan...breakfast and dinner was plenty. With that being said do spend the extra money for breakfast and dinner as it is pricey a la carte. The Saturday night buffet was $83 per person plus tip. We also paid for the beverage plan and couldn't drink enough to make it worthwhile. The beachfront suites could use foot baths or bens by the doors to wash off feet from the beach.

Overall we loved our experience and highly recommend!

Room Tip: Splurge for the beachfront rooms. 2nd floor provides more privacy and cathedral ceilings. Most of th...

I really don't want to review this idyllic spot because I don't wantbto share it with others. It was the sight of our wedding and honeymoon and it could not have been more perfect.
The accommodations are superb and the food out of this world. We had dinner on the beach, breakfast by the docks and cocktails overlooking St. Johns Island.....just the two of us and a stray black cat. Thanks to Alfred for driving us up to the top of the island with a bucket of champagne nd a cheese platter to watch the sunset.
The catamaran trip to Virgin Gorda for a trip to the Baths and snorkeling was the best in the Caribbean. The wine tasting was suberb!
We were one of twenty ppeople on the whole island. We felt like we owned it. Our every whim was catered to from keeping cold beer in our mini fridge to providing personal flip flops to wear out to the beach. A day spa trip for just the two of us fantastic.

Room Tip: Choose the beachfront accommodations overlooking Deadman's Bay. You can leave your windows open...

I've been to most of the islands and resorts in the BVI. My favorites are Little Dix, Scrub Island, the Bitter End, Saba Rock and Cooper Island. All of them are wonderful, however, Peter Island stands out in my mind as the best resort in the BVI.

We visited Peter Island in February of 2013, after a week spent cruising the BVI. It was the perfect way to end our trip.

I would suggest booking the trip through Amex's Fine Hotels and Resorts program. We were upgraded to a beachfront suite, because we booked through the program. Also, it included breakfast every day, a good value.

Overall, the resort is expensive, but I think well worth the additional cost. The beach is gorgeous, truly one of the most beautiful in the world. The spa was fantastic, not to be missed. I felt that the general vibe was low key luxury. It wasn't pretentious or stuffy, just quiet beauty.

Room Tip: I would suggest booking the trip through Amex's Fine Hotels and Resorts program. We were upgrade...

This resort is beautiful, low-key and relaxed. The only nightlife is watching the sunset while you enjoy a fruit & cheese plate and your favorite beverage. The food was excellent and there was fresh fish everyday. The staff were courteous and unobtrusive. The dive shop was very well-run and there are numerous amazing dives that are 10-15 minutes from the shop. Our room was spacious, well-appointed and cheerful. Nearly all of the guests were on their honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary. We were doing the latter and were pleased to see a complimentary bottle of bubbly chilling in our room upon arrival. Our only complaint had to do with the spa. We were told the couples massage was not to be missed. well, we missed it when a masseuse missed a boat. No one was very apologetic and no effort was made to correct the situation. Otherwise, however, the resort exceeded our expectations.
