So my husband and I have traveled all over the world and have stayed in many 5 star luxury beach resorts. We come from NYC and have high expectations. It is a beautiful island for certain. The resort needs an overhaul. The rooms are small, the bathroom is tired and ancient. The customer service can be great to poor. The dining is good, but not fine dining in my book. The spa is nice, but not fabulous, and the services need to be stepped up. I had a deep tissue massage and an body exfoliation. You have to make reservations in advance from the sunset, to the cabanas, to honeymoon beach. We made reservations with Emily before arriving, and upon checking nothing was ever reserved. I thought the cabanas were over rated... Wooden planks with 2 uncomfortable chairs. When leaving we were told there was an electric outlet and water, neither water arrived with the picnic lunch. After my body scrub the shower was cold, if I am paying $185 for a service it should be wonderful experience. The main gift shop needs a good buyer... It's a lot of junk you can find on canal street. The spa gift shop does have a much better selection. You have to wait for a shuttle to take you around, and they operate on island time. I expected more fresh fish and ingredients. Again is a nice adequate resort but go in with these expectations. Apparently they are redoing the rooms as soon as our group leaves.

- Hotel Guests
- Marina Guests
- Daily Boaters

Peter Island Resort & Spa has many, many, great things to offer its guests. The island is quite beautiful, offfers personalized service, and could be a truly great paradise escape if a few issues were better attended to and figured out.

First, and most important, the Resort bills itself as this quiet, peaceful experience and generally it would not have much appeal to being a place for younger children. However, this is a big, big, variance from the reality of our recent stay. While the guests rooms are limited in number, and the guests are quite nice and respectful of not making noise, there is an almost daily onslaught of boaters who are able to drop anchor and come ashore and take over the resort especially at Deadman's Beach and also at the pool. These boat people would come ashore often in large parties with the intent of drinking and partying all day. They were noisy and had no respect for anyone else on the beach. And along with them, there were plenty of young children screaming all day as they played. We were not expecting a Disney vacation or a spring break atmosphere based on the info we read from the hotel. There were no attempts by beach security (one lone guard) to control these folks who would take over lounge chairs that as the signs posted said "are reserved for hotel guests." I had to ask the beach waitress one day to intervene as the boat people came ashore and took over lounge chairs and were extemely loud/annoying to to move to the other part of the beach. This is far from being as per the website "an 1,800-acre oasis of tranquility" unless the Resort intended that we go off to the other side of the island to find it.

My mistake was not going to one of the other more remote beaches on the island (White Bay Beach) but as a guest we should not have to choose where to stay. There is another smaller beach area beyond Deadman's Beach (Little Deadman's Beach) where the daily boaters are supposed to disembark but they do not stay in that area. One day we counted over 18 daily boats anchored. So, with anywhere from 6 to 10 or more people per boat, just imagine what happens to your quiet beach!! If someone actually monitored this population and controlled them it would be much appreciated by your paying guests! Realize the Resort probably makes a great deal of money from their drinking but this is not at all what I would expect from a resort of this caliber.

The boaters who actually dock at the marina can also be a bit nosiy and you hear them while in the poolside rooms as the front of these rooms face the marina. Here too, there are more children coming in to use all of the resort facilities. Know this may sound like a lot of nit picking but living in New York City, we were looking for a peaceful island escape vacation where we could unwind and relax.

As others have pointed out, the food is very good especially at Tradewinds (better than the Beach Bar & Grill) but unfortunately, you don't have a choice as they alternate between the two restaurants (while one is open, the other is closed). Service was quite good and the star of our stay was Rimple, who is just amazing. Do not miss out on any of his wine events. We attended both the wine tasting and the wine dinner, and he is informative, casual and a true delight. The wine dinner besides having some great wines had the best food of our stay. The entire menu was coordinated by Rimple and the Exec Chef. The wine pairings and food were just perfect.

So, in summary, while we had beautiful weather and enjoyed the island, but there were a few days were the boatpeople really took away form the overall experience which is truly a shame as the resort/island could live up to its billing if they figure out what it is they want to be.

For these reasons, even though we found many things to enjoy, we won't be coming back until the Resort figures out what it wants to be and get the daily boating "drop anchor and party" population under some sort of control.

Room Tip: The poolside rooms are tired, have very hard mattresses and our room had awful water pressure from t...

We just returned from our second visit to Peter Island. We had a wonderful time. If you like a perfect beach, low density, great service, wonderful food, and plenty of time to be busy or do nothing, this is the place. We stayed in a Beach Front Junior Suite each visit. The rooms are a tiny bit dated but the view is great. Close to the water so you can hear the surf day and night. They are a little pricey but its worth it.

Food and beverage is great. I like the open air casualness of Deadman's Beach Bar but look forward to the more formal setting in the Tradewinds Restaurant every other night.

This year we took advantage of the wine tasting event and the wine dinner. They have a new Food and Beverage guy, Rimple, who is doing a great job. He leads these events. His knowledge of both the food and wine is amazing. His passion for each shows thru with every sip or bite. It's also a great way to meet some of the other guests at the resort.

You begin to feel a bit like family after a day or two.

The spa is great. My wife and I both had wonderful treatments while we were there.

Can't wait until next year.

Room Tip: The BF Junior Suites are the only way to go.

like previous visitor we were advised of building work 7 days before we left but were lucky enough to be in Junior Suite well away from the work, but not much noise anyway, anywhere
I had a broken ankle so had to buggy everywhere but no problems, we were in room 215 upstairs on the beach, caribean evening good food but noisey band in Dead Mans restaurant , other wise brillant
Jean/Rimple/Sarah/Edward/Colin all hands on with Chad in background, great food & service , pity but a few too many loud Americans staying but we managed.
ITC met us at the airport in Tortola with the chickens in arrivals then the 30 minute boat ride to the Island, saw Eddie Jourdan on our last night in a Red Bull huge yatch named Lush he was late getting to Australian grand prix on Sunday !!!!
Room good very cumfy big beds good aircon. spa was huge and empty, white beach the best but book a hut no 1 and order lunch which will be delivered
Wlbert the manager in good control overall, nice guy
Jean was the resort star late 60's massaged my ankle 3 times with fresh picked Aloe Vera , shes was bright & breezey every day, amazing lady

Room Tip: stay in a junior suite, bit of a walk or buggy ride from restaurants

I know that this review is a little late...however...that does not detract in any way from our experience.

From the first contact to the completion of the wedding and departure from the Island, we had a 5 star service.
Our Wedding Co-ordinator Edward will be forever burned into our hearts for the way him and all the staff on Peter Island dedicated themselves to ensuring that not only my bride and I but all our guests...from 7 yrs old to 71 yrs old...were made to feel special and the center of their attention.

From the laughter and warmth that we received arriving at the Island to the smiles and wonderful Carribbean lilt every time people spoke to you. There was nothing that was too much trouble, even to the point that when we did the Trash the Dress shoot the day after the wedding at the end of Deadman's Beach and the children were hot and thirsty, Edward with staff from the restaurant, brought a table, chairs, drinks and lunch...and set it up under a palm tree for us.
Idyllic...!!

This level of service was the norm for the course of the trip...all our guests left vowing to return.
We hoped for this level of service to make our wedding wonderful and the Staff of Peter Island did not let us down.

We should have known by the transportation Peter Island provided to get there what kind of amazing service and vacation experience we were in for. From the start, after boarding the boat, we were treated like gold. Once on the island, the staff was so attentive. The island is so calm and peaceful. We did yoga down by the spa in the morning. We relaxed and snorkeled at the beach. When I say we, I mean us and maybe 6 others on the beach. And the beach was just gorgeous! We realized half way through our trip that we had to stop asking "Can we..." and instead say "We'd like...", because they do everything here to make you feel like you are #1. We would go back here in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed Peter island resort for our honeymoon and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff treated us like family and you become very close with them! The good was outstanding, and I would HIGHLY recommend the wine tasting and food pairing with Rimple, as he is extremely knowledgeable and so much fun! We can't wait to get back!
