“Fabulous food and try the Mudslide”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

The restaurant staff were attentive and informed. They recommended the lionfish, which was great. The plates looked beautiful when they arrived and the food was great. They are known for their mudslides and justifiably so. We sat on the screened porch under the moonlight and had a great time. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of other diners there at the time we went, so it felt a bit isolated. That probably has something to do with how far out the restaurant is from Georgetown and the fact that we were there at 8 p.m. on a weeknight. If you like good food and want to dine on the water, this is a great experience. If you're not the driver, be sure to try their expansive rum menu.

“Dinner and a Sail”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We really enjoyed the free Red Sail catamaran trip coupled with dinner at Rum Point. It was our last night in Grand Cayman and we wanted one last dinner with our entire group of 8. We easily made our way from our SMB condo to the Safehaven marina. The trip boarded on time at 5pm. We were told it was fully booked, but it was not overcrowded. Everyone had plenty of room to spread out and find a good place to enjoy the sail. The wind was not really cooperating, so it was more of a motor trip, but we were able to sail for about 15 minutes. The crew of the boat was fun and we enjoyed a rum punch from the cash bar on board. When we got to Rum Point, we were disappointed to see the gift shop had closed just a few minutes before our arrival. I would think that when they have a large group coming by boat, they would stay open for 30 minutes extra - a lot of people were looking forward to stopping in and making some purchases. Our table was ready for us and we had a great spot on the screened in deck with a water view. Our server was very attentive and engaged the kids. My kids loved the carved and painted chairs that had sea animals on the backs. The food was okay, definitely not great. We had ceviche, spring rolls and calamari for appetizers. The ceviche was not very good, had very little flavor. We had much better ceviche at Tukka earlier in our trip. Spring rolls and calamari were much better. All four of the adults had the surf and turf as our meal. None of us were overly impressed with the filet. It just didn't taste like high quality meat. The teen boys in our group got the seafood hot pot and mixed grill of lamb, pork and beef. There was nothing left on either of their plates, so they definitely enjoyed it. I was pleased that they allowed us to get grilled mahi for the kids meals instead of fried. My kids loved the fish. We also had dessert, key lime pie, chocoloate cake and mango cheesecake. They were all good. This was by far our most expensive meal of the entire trip ($530) and one of our least favorite food-wise. (not the worst, but no where near the best, either) We were finished just in time to get back to the catamaran to head back. The trip back was enjoyable - we were back a little after 9pm. Overall, we enjoyed the whole experience a lot. The sail is what made it really special and bumped this up to a 4 star rating instead of a 3.

“Rum Point beach bbq - fun for family but not an epicurean delight”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

Our group, including teenagers, tried the Rum point Monday night beach bbq and had fun. With the package comes a free catamaran ride to Rum point from 7mile at sunset. That was the highlight. We arrived at Rum point after an hour sail and received a free daiquiri. Another bonus! The actually bbq buffet was only average. The live music was pretty bad. After dinner, you can lounge in a hammock or beach chair for a couple hours. We would've preferred to go home about an hour sooner. Teenagers got bored. Catamaran home was nice. Bartender brought his guitar and invited guests to have a jam session. Nice conviviality. So in summary, it's very touristy but glad I went.

“Very pleasant”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Good food, nice and relaxed, good service with good food, but don't have the irish coffee as it was dreadful and not at all what we had expected. Mango martini was great though!

“Great food and service”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

My husband and I came here for appetizers and desert around dinner time, and everything we ate was delicious. We also had the best service we had in any restaurant on the island. All the staff there was friendly and great. Our waitress was especially wonderful.
Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their food, and everything looked delicious!
