We booked with Chip after reading the other reviews. We were stoked to find out that my wife and I had this boat almost entirely to ourselves. We did have one other lady on the catamaran with her granddaughter who was slightly needy but having the boat almost entirely to ourselves made for a great experience! I was impressed that Chip didn't cancel with such a low turnout. Thanks!

As to the stingray experience, Chip really does draw ALL the stingrays to himself. All the other guides from other boats kept coming over to take stingrays from our little huddle. He was also amazing at helping my wife feel comfortable in what was a rather unique experience.

The snorkeling was decent but not amazing. We would have been fine without it.

We highly recommend you book with Chip and his dad.

We booked the Stingray Sailing Sandbar/Reef excursion with Captain Chip on March 12, 2014 and had an outstanding time sailing on the 43 foot-long Far Tortuga catamaran. We were met by Kevin at the Royal Watler cruise ship terminal, exactly where Michelle told us he would be.

Chip, his dad, Buster, and the photographer Mark did an excellent job of coordinating and running the tour. Chip limits his tour to 25 people. We had only 24 people on our tour compared to other groups of 50-70 people, which made for a more relaxed and better excursion.

Once we reached Stingray City, the stingrays appeared to congregate around Chip. We had so many stingrays, we had people from other tours trying to interact with our stingrays and I even saw another tour operator come over and steal one of our rays. What an amazing time feeding and holding the stingrays. We ended up with great pictures of the stingrays, courtesy of our photographer Mark.

Afterwards, we went to the reef where we snorkeled and took pictures of the fish before a leisurely catamaran ride back to the dock. Do not miss this opportunity to swim with the stingrays!

Stingray sailing was an excellent provider. Chip the captain picked us up at the hotel and was early! Drive us to the yacht club where the catamaran is docked. The catamaran was very nice and comfortable. Part of it is covered by a canvas for sun protection. There is also a trampoline for relaxation. Stingrays were great and we all had the opportunity to feed them with anchovies. After stingray city we anchored near the reef for snorkeling. Complementary water and fruit on board. Great overall experience. Would definitely recommend!!

We arrived at the dock from our cruise an hour early and Kevin was already there waiting for us and others. There was a problem with the catamaran so Kevin and Chip took us out on their motor boat. Since there was a change of plans with the boats, Chip reduced the price of the tour which was unexpected. Also since speed of the boat was faster than the catamaran, we were able to go to an additional stop (Starfish point). Before we got in the water at Stingray city, Kevin told us about the stingrays, how to touch them and how to feed them. We were certainly one of the smaller groups that was out in the water which was nice. We also did snorkeling at a reef nearby and then we headed for Starfish point. I had never see so many starfish in the water. Again, we were told how to hold them if we choose to pick them upAlso, there were only about 3 boats anchored so it was not crowded at all. . Great experience overall.

My brother in law used Stingray Sailing previously. Kim J was on our boat. Chip met us at the dock when we got off our ship. ( I wonder what happened to that party of 5 that did not show up ?) Nice trip to the dock in his bus where we me his sister crew and it's captain ( Kevin from Kelowna B.C. Canada) Motored out to the reef for snorkeling (does anyone call it skin diving anymore ?) Passed all the ship sanctioned boats ( about 1200 people) at the sandbar. We sorkeled at the reef with the 20 from our boat, and 5 people from another boat. Moved to the sandbar when the crowd thinned out. Chip feeds the Stingrays fish rather than squid. Draws them like flies ! A fresh fruit snack while we sailed back. Great guys to chat with ( Chip, his dad and Kevin) Just don't ask about Steve Irwin ! I highly recommend Stingray sailing over the ship excursions. It's even less expensive !
