My wife and I took the deluxe stingray sandbar trip with our two grandchildren (ages 9 and 16). We were visiting Grand Cayman on the Vision of the Seas and we booked the tour through Royal Caribbean. It was terrific fun ... a little scary at first because some of the stingrays are several feet across. However, they are friendly and will shove you out of the way if you get between them and their food! All the necessary gear was provided and the entry into the warm, clear, water couldn't be easier ... you simply descend stairs at the back of the boat directly onto the sand. The guides were first rate; they provided great background information and also food so everyone who wanted to could feed the stingrays. It was an awesome experience and one not to be missed when visiting Grand Cayman!

Our family of 4 (boys ages 6 and 9) booked this excursion through our cruise line. We were greeted at the port and escorted to cute trollies and made our way, about 15 mins to the dock. We were greeted by a great crew. Offered drinks, snacks and disposable underwater cameras for purchase. We were also offered flotations vest and snorkel gear free of charge. We made our way about 20 mins to the sandbar and immediately got in the most incredibly clear and blue water and the stingrays were a plenty. As everyone entered the water, it was a little chaotic for a few mins until the crew calmed everyone and explained how to handle and walk near the rays, etc. This was very helpful. It might be better if this were done before entering the water.

We all formed a huge circle to listen to instructions and the crew (lots of them in the water with us) brought rays around to offer a first touch. We all split up into our family groups and waited for our turn to take a family photo. A crew member would bring a ray to us and show us how to hold and give a few facts. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and took their time. Later we gathered back into one big group for feeding the stingrays. This was fun. We had a few more mins to swim around and explore briefly before the captain sounded the horn (blew a conch shell) and we all piled back into the boat and back to the dock.

My husband and I were thrilled with this crew. They were kind, patient and seemed to genuinely care that each person had a great time. I will say it was very crowded, this boat holds a lot of people and several other boats also share the same area but it wasn't too bad. I would definitely recommend this activity. DO NOT forget your water camera. You will want lots of pics.

Excellent, knowledgeable guides. Very concerned that everyone has a great time. They took pictures of everyone holding, feeding and kissing the stingrays. Loved the steps that let you walk right out onto the sandbar. Snacks, drinks and restroom available. Snorkel gear available for no extra charge. I was very impressed with their attention to their guests.

AWESOME!! The captain and the crew were wonderful! Interacting, touching, holding the wild stingrays was amazing!! We chose this excursion because my husband is handicapped and this boat has steps that go all the way to the ocean floor! Will definitely do this again, if we return to Grand Cayman!! We were there on July 16, 2014.

This is a chance of a lifetime to touch, hold and feed stingrays in the open ocean water. These people transport you to a sandbar far enough out where you can't see land and the sand is pure white four feet below the surface of the crystal clear water. The Captain and his crew inform you about the stingrays and the safe way to hold them in your arms. You don't have to be able to swim unless you are less than five feet tall and they have stairs on the back of the boat so you can walk right down into the water. This is one of the coolest things you will ever do in your life.
