Small but a really good guide to the history of the island, with keen, enthusiastic guides to help you understand what you are seeing.

While you're doing this, visit the Mission House down the road, a private and fascinating preserved mission house which is used to tell the story of the island through one family's experiences.

The guide is excellent too and explains the impressive level of integration on the island and how it came about.

Located on the corner of Harbour Drive and Fort Street in George Town only about a block inland from the pier, Fort George was originally built in 1790 of coral stone and limestone, measuring 57 ft (17m) by 38 ft (11.6m). Today, not much is left of the walls or much else but there are a couple of relics worth examining and an interpretive sign describing the site. Since one does not need to go out of their way to get to the Fort, it is worth a little time to take in the site and history.

After visiting it during Cayman Food Tour, I actually now know what it is! Nice to see its still a part of the city and that the people are trying to preserve it.

Brought my 13 year old and had a great experience. She missed a few days of school at home and made it up here!

Hardly any thing remains of this old fort. But being a fan of history and forts-I had to stop. A small portion of the walls remains along with cannons and info signs. easy to find from the port and a free attraction.
