This is a small collection from local artists - very well displayed works. Staff is very friendly. The building itself is very interesting. We thought the garden was the highlight - would have liked to spend time there, but it was raining so we weren't able to. Worth a trip.

The gallery has a hodge podge collection. There are one or two very nice works but then there are some odd things, an example being the creations of guests from Little Cayman. While it was fun and eclectic, those looking for a traditional gallery experience might be put off.
However it is free and a nice way to get out of the sun or spend a rainy 30 minutes.

Thank you for your comment. We’re glad you were able to visit the National Gallery on your trip to the Cayman Islands! Unfortunately on the day you visited we were having some work done in the Community Gallery where the Little Cayman Creations were intended to be on display as part of a recycled art project, rather than as part of the formal gallery space (which houses both our temporary exhibition area and the National Collection gallery). To avoid confusion in the future we've shared your comment with our staff as a reminder to prepare clear public notices should this happen again. Take care and hope to see you at the National Gallery on your next visit!

The National Gallery is not overly large but it is beautifully appointed and graced with beautiful works of art. Worth the visit for any art lover on the island. Be aware that they have moved to a new location and we found that if you ask for directions most people will still give you directions to the old location. The visit is free (although donations are happily accepted).

If you like art, then make a point to visit the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. It's on the interior road that runs parallel to Seven Mile Beach and it sits all by itself, so it's easy to miss. The Gallery was the highlight of our Grand Cayman Rum Point villa vacation for all three of the adults. The Gallery is FREE. The outdoor space held numerous interesting sculptures and a maze. The first floor showcased found-object sculptures that were so imaginative--some from hurricane devastation and others from natural beach-type things like fans with plastic bags interwoven to resemble feathers, or beakers of water with images. The second floor held mostly two dimensional artwork by local artists, including some primitive paintings by the pioneer of island art. Lovely small museum store. Bring a water bottle; there is NO water fountain. I found an office staff person and asked for directions to the water fountain. Instead, she filled a clear glass of water cooler water and gave it to me!
