Description: The George Town Yacht Club (GTYC) is located on the waterfront at The Barcadere Marina, Grand Cayman. Conveniently located next to the airport, with a FREE shuttle running every 15 minutes, it is a great place to spend time waiting for a flight. It is accessible by land or sea, with plenty of parking for your car or boat, and is the perfect place to relax after a day out on the water, unwind after a day in the office, share your fish stories, or simply hang out with good friends. The menu is appealing to all tastes with an emphasis on local seafood, from conch ceviche to our daily fresh catch, and our famous flame grilled dishes served with your choice of sides. Of course, lunchtime favourites such as burgers and wings are offered or, for those with a lighter palate, the salads are outstanding.GTYC is also an ideal place to host parties, functions and events, either poolside or inside. The private clubhouse and scenic balcony are available to individuals, companies, service clubs and other organizations, to host fishing tournaments, birthday, Christmas and New Years Eve parties, wedding receptions, business meetings, seminars, charitable and cultural events or any other casual, or formal, function.

“Loved the food!”

What a great spot to enjoy with the family! Have been here quite a few times for events, but never with the family. Actually came by to watch the fish weigh-in for the Kirk Slam tournament and decided to stay for dinner. Had a nice table outside facing the water and all the boating activity. My 2year old kept himself entertained by playing in the sand the whole time. The food was amazing, much better than expected! I had a great chicken curry topped with cilantro and my family companion ordered fish tacos. We ordered kids fish fingers for my son, which was fresh fish seasoned and battered to perfection and only $6ci! Definitely plan to come back more often.

“Wish we hadn't...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

Some months ago we had lunch at this newly-refurbished spot overlooking North Sound. I ended my review with 'We'll be back!'. And so we did return to the restaurant for lunch earlier this week and we really wish we hadn't!

It was earlier in the 'lunch hour' and things were getting underway... the place was not crowded and the service was attentive, after what seemed an initial disapproval of where we chose to sit. We ordered and did not have to wait long for our meals. We were disappointed.

I ordered the 'Oxtail Shepherd's Pie', being partial to oxtail and being quite fond of the aforementioned pie. I could not swear that the meat was actually oxtail, it seemed more like a not-very-good beef stew. It was stringy and tasteless. The rest of the filling was supposed to contain carrots. If they were present I would have felt sorry for them because they were not self-evident. The topping, ah, the topping. Limpid and thinly-textured, it was smothered by cheese and looked most unappealing. I haven't a clue what was in the dressing on the rocket leaves that accompanied this meal.... lots of lemon or lime and something else a bit slimy. I took one mouthful and gave it up as a bad job. Overall? the meal tasted like baby-food.

My wife's Fish Tacos were plentiful and quite tasty, but the plating left a lot to be desired.

I am sorry to say we will NOT be back. I add this more in sorry than in anger.... such a shame.

We visited this restaurant for dinner around 6pm.....perfect! Inside seating, on the sand seating or poolside seating. We opted for poolside so the children could swim. We went on curry night and the food was delicious and the kids menu brilliant! Perfect setting, location and atmosphere and to top it off live music!! Only thing were the bugs (being near the water) but the excellent staff provide amazing bug spray if you ask :) will be returning before the end of our holiday.

“Excellent food in a fun setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

Just had lunch here today and can certainly give it a rave review. The restaurant sits right on the water with outdoor tables set in sand, and a nice bustling indoor atmosphere. The service was attentive and very helpful. The food, is delicious. There is a great variety on the menu - from wings/burgers/thin crust pizza to island fare such as wahoo and ceviche. The real treat, however, were the Indian curries (their chef is Indian) which were superb. The restaurant is filled with locals - another good sign. Do not hesitate to eat here!
