Well, we feel bad after reading all the wonderful reviews. Maybe we're not as hip as we like to pretend. We're not overly spoiled and do like local flavor, but you need to be ok with every other aspect besides the food being pretty low quality. People calling it Mom and Pop and implying that it's quaint are being kind. Was seriously difficult to try to convince ourselves that the awful decor was cute. Service being on island time...also nice euphemism for extremely slow. And the food...very expensive for the turtle offerings. It tasted fine, but not good enough to make up for so many other deficiencies. Also...on a Monday it was empty other than another table of tourists like us. Which also added to the low quality of the evening. I could see why if you were local you might like this place every once in awhile, but if you're a tourist, make sure you really want to say you ate turtle.

Staff at our hotel recommended Myrtle's for the true GC food experience. I'm not going to lie, the place was a little shabby, in a strip mall with some pretty outdated decor. But the turtle was delicious! We had the turtle burger and the turtle stew. We prefered the burger. The stew includes some organ meat (which really isn't our thing) but other than that was delicious. Not a romantic place at all, but definitely stop in for some local food.

Amazing place if you are looking for a local meal. My two kids tried the turtle burger and it was apparently very good, plus very adventurous. A great local atmosphere plus excellent service. Not necessarily a couples place or a romantic atmosphere, but perfect for families looking to try new foods. Highly recommended if you're looking to try a local cuisine.

Great local atmosphere at the bar - amazing food, crazy low prices. The Oxtail is simply outstanding.

My husband and I asked different locals for authentic local food and various different people recommended Myrtle's. It wasn't easy to find because it is in a little strip mall, and it was a very informal restaurant, but we really enjoyed it. I had the turtle burger (I wanted something that was true to Grand Cayman, that I couldn't have anywhere else), and it was delicious. We had a great experience.
