After reading many reviews, I was skeptical about booking here. This hotel went above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. When you arrive, they offer you welcome drinks and rum cake! There is flavored water available in the lobby during the day and a water cooler at the pool. The beach is very small, but the whole island's beaches are small. The pool is also small. It wasn't hard to get chairs at the beach before 10am either. The staff will drill umbrella's in the sand for you (Courtney was a super nice) and when the sun moved, they came around and asked you if you wanted your umbrella moved. There are plenty of toys there for your kids to play with and the snorkeling is great. There are also raft discs in the ocean to layout on. Every morning they brought out the parrot to hold and get pics with.

As for food...plenty of places within walking distance, other than constantly eating at the hotel. Cimboco was really good and Cafe del Sol. All of the restaurants have free wifi...would never of paid for the Marriott's wifi since you could just go across the street. Also, ate at Fridel Murray's and Coconut Joes. Both ok places. The hotel does have happy hour from 5-7 at Sol bar. I would recommend walking a few blocks down the road (pasted Coconut Joe's) and go to Big Daddy's Market and get your own alcohol.

A taxi ride to and from the airport is 18.75 US. Make sure you clarify with your driver that this is the rate!

A bus ride around the island is 2.50 US. Only took the bus once, to see what the hype about the Ritz was. It was nice and the pool/beach was a lot bigger, but the cost difference isn't worth it.

The Marriott is definitely a good value for the money. I would definitely go back again! Everyone who works there is so genuinely kind...they aren't just being pushy for tips.

This is a beautiful hotel and staffed by excellent personnel. They went out of their way to ensure the experience was exceptional!! The food was superb....bar restaurant fun with beautiful view of Caribbean. Swim out to the canopy seats and relax...you can look down and see many fish swimming around. Internet access in lobby average. The hotel store has pretty good prices. Taxis are readily available to take you anywhere. Would definitely return to this property!!

Room Tip: Ensure you specify several times which type of accommodations; i.e., double beds, king, etc.

First of all. let me say, I am a travel agent.

I am reading all these " glowing" first hand experiences that visitors had at The Marriott Grand Cayman and I am wondering if I stayed at the same resort.

I was a guest of Marriott. Though the manager requested I ask for him upon my arrival, I never did get to see him at all during the entire time I was there. Though there were no real problems during my stay, I felt this resort was very cold and impersonal. We were never called by our name by any member of the staff......no personal interaction at all. No one went out of their way to be helpful, and at times there were long waits at the front desk.

The rooms were comfortably " Marriott". The beach is rather congested right in front of the Marriott. Food was typical hotel food, but pricey. We paid sixteen dollars plus tip for two scoops of vanilla ice cream in the lobby.

I have had many trips to Cayman over the years. I just did not have that " Caymanian" feeling at The Marriott. It was just OK. I have not booked any of my clients into The Grand Cayman Marriott, and I probably would not go back myslef.

My new husband and I spent 6 nights here for our honeymoon and had an absolute blast. The Caymans were a perfect choice as there was plenty to do but also plenty of time to relax. I have no complaints about the staff or the food at all. While we did not receive the same personalized stay as some have written (none of the doormen knew us, no free cookies or drinks etc...) the service we received at the pool side lounge, Red Parrot Restaurant, pool bar and at the special dinner events was fantastic.

The food at the resort was incredible!! Also, I was pleased to see the prices at the resort were quite comparable to prices off the resort, generally speaking. Prices all over the island are VERY high compared to the US dollar spent in a US city, but we knew that before we went and planned accordingly. We could have gone to the Dominican Republic or Jamaica for less money, but our safety and freedom to travel the island were worth paying more.

The beach and pool were never too crowded, neither were the dining facilities, or gift shop. We enjoyed the horseback riding at sunset and taking the jet skis out as well, and the safari adventure is a great way to see the whole island and learn more about the culture, history, landscape etc...

A PERFECT destination for the vacationer with a little extra money, who wants to do a few activities, and then relax on PERFECT beaches.

Overall, we were extremely pleased and will return for sure!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a partial ocean view, but to save some money, a "Garden view" at this hotel w...

We just returned from the Marriot Grand Cayman . We had stayed there last summer and liked it so much that we returned. The facilities were good and the staff was very attentive . Cesar , at the front door , remembered out name throughout the week , and was very accomodating. The two things that we like about the location is that you can snorkel from the hotel beach and you can walk for miles along the beach. If you are a diver, the boat picks you up at the hotel beach . The only negative was that due to a storm , the depth of the beach had eroded a few months ago making it somewhat crowded . We were told that the next storm from the north will restore the beach . Grand Cayman is not for everyone as there is not much going on . As an example , the only establishments open at night are restaurants . The retail stores are closed except at the mall nearby. We highly recommend Grand Cayman and the Marriot Hotel.

From the moment we walked into the lobby - all 9 days - then back out to the cab at the end of the trip we had a perfect experience at the Marriort Grand Cayman. The doorman Cesar greeted us by our first names, gave us rum cake and a fruit punch upon arrival. The bartender Dil kept us entertained, informed and our rum flowing. Doris, our maid was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for our room. I have never experienced staff that was so consistantly attentive and friendly.

The hotel had a different themed activity/dinner just about every night. Always a good experience. We were able to plan all of our day trips from the hotel and the hotel is within walking distance to Georgetown and the Camana Bay shopping/dining areas. We will definitely be back next year. To stay at the Marriot Grand Cayman was a great choice.

Room Tip: Spend a little more and have your room overlook the beach rather than the courtyard or the inner isl...

We spent 3 days at the Marriott in Grand Cayman. We were very pleased with everything about this property. Everyone was very helpful, professional, courteous and just plain nice. We need to make sure you are aware of an extraordinary person. Cesar was the best! He is not just a doorman; he was the best we have ever had. His professionalism & treating you like you were a friend made our trip extra special. The reef right out off the beach was quite special. I had never been snorkeling before and this made it wonderful. We are already talking about bringing our kids for a visit very soon!

Room Tip: We had a garden view room & we loved it. I don't think it would matter which room you stayed...
