“Pretty room but as boring as a retirement home.”
Reviewed 26 November 2009

Hotel is easy to get to. The young lady at the front desk graciously upgraded us to an ocean view room which was great. The rooms are comfortable and colorful. We arrived late afternoon and walked Seven Mile Beach and did not use the pool but it looked nice. The common areas and hallways were clean. Breakfast was included with our room and it was very good and served on an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. There is a cute little courtyard with a turtle pond.
Unfortunately we arrived on the first sunny day after 10 straight days of rain which caused a PILE of seaweed that covered the entire span of beach in front of the Marriott but strangely not in front of any other hotel or condo complex. Nothing going on at night and the main restaurant was closed for renovations.
Would consider going back if staying in Seven Mile Beach area.

Spent a week a this hotel early this month, on the whole we loved the location and the staff were all very friendly. We used points and took the all-inclusive option and I have mixed feelings about this, firstly the Red Parrott restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay which meant that we could eat in the Solano restaurant or the Balboa's Bar (or beach bar - not really an option for night time though). I found this a little restricting and even at the end of our week we felt the need to eat out in George Town (Hard Rock Cafe!). The other thing about the all-inclusive was the list of incuded drinks - basically if you wanted to drink red wine you could have Merlot and if you wanted white you could have Chardnnay - neither of which I get on with!!! Also my husbands favourite beer (Bud Lite) wasn't included, so after a very in depth discussion with the manager an agreement was reached and basically we chose which drinks we wanted and were not charged any extra for them.

We were also unhappy with our first room but we managed to change after one night and got a nicer room on a higher floor. The worst thing was the fitness centre - I like to use he gym when on holiday but only went in once as too few pieces of equipment in there and ended up twiddling my thumbs whilst waiting for people to finish.

We were a bit unlucky with the weather (Ida tropical storm!!!) and the beach did get covered with moss type seaweed, however just a few feet away to the right it was ok so spent the time in the sea there instead of in front of the hotel.

All the staff were friendly, polite and VERY helpful - Brendan in the Solano restaurant gets a special mention - he's very thorough and quite amusing!!

My wife and I were celebrating our 15 year anniversary and I booked this trip a surprise. I used points and had an oceanfront room that was very nice. There are pros and cons to this property.

The good part is the view and normally the snorkeling and the fact you can walk to many other bars and restaurnats in the area. We especially liked the Reef and Aqua bar/restaurants. If you want to be in the 7 mile area it is a good location.

The big con for us was the fact you could close your eyes and open then and you would feel just like you were in Florida. It just didn't seem like the caribbean that much. The staff was nice but they didn't play music around the pool or that often at the Tiki hut either. It was just a stale atmosphere and that was a big disapointment.

We had bad timing on the weather. We had 1 good day of snorkeling and then mother nature turned and the winds blew for 2 days and brought a ton of seaweed into the Mariott area. I understand they had to clean it up but it completely ruined our Saturday night plans to enjoy the outside restaurant since they had the bobcats going until 10:00 p.m. On top of that our last day Sunday they cranked up the bobcats at 7:00 a.m. and that wasn't the way I had planned to wake up on my last day of vacation.

Overall advice, it is a good location and if you like Mariotts maybe you'll be OK with it but many of the other hotels seemed much more upbeat and fun. The Mariott just seemd stale and boring. We spent almost all our time elsewhere but we did enjoy the room and the comfortable bed.

If you want to go to Sting Ray city, use Fat Fish tours, the owner Peter is fantastic. If I went back I'd probably want to stay on the East End away from the main tourist area and enjoy the caribbean feel more.

We had a very nice stay at the Marriott in October 2009. The hotel is in a great location on Seven Mile beach. Decent snorkeling just offshore. Rooms were well appointed and very comfortable and clean. Our air conditioning, however, barely cooled the room and our clothes never dried during our week.

Drink specials each day/evening at the beach bar, however watch for changing prices in the late afternoon. We had the drink of the day one day, the "Mudslide". They were $6 in the afternoon. When we ordered them in the early evening, we were charged $40 Cayman for four of them (about $12 US apiece!!!).

Coconut Joes across the street was great for open air dining at a very reasonable price. Check out the $.25 Wing Night on Sundays. Also, the Aqua Beach Bar is right across the street and is another great option for reasonably priced meals. This place was crazy hoppin' on Saturday night with a mix of tourists and locals.

Overall, very nice stay at the Marriott.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Marriot. The beach location is perfect and the hotel has a fabulous pool to relax around and cool off from the heat of the day. Although slightly dated, our junior suite room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, approachable and attentive.

The hotel has an attractive central courtyard where you can sit a relax and watch the baby turtles swimming by! The spa may be small but it also very comfortable, and I fully recommend that you have a massage at this hotel (much better than some of the more expensive hotel spas that I've used!).

Whilst I would not describe this hotel as luxury, it is very clean, comfortable and welcoming - I would recommend that you stay here. Well done the Marriot Grand Cayman!

We have just returned from our honeymoon on Grand Cayman where we stayed at the Marriott for 11 nights and we give it a huge thumbs up. We had a sea view room on the 5th floor which I would def recommend paying out for if you can recommend it as the views are to die for. Although the court yard area is lovely too, just not as special a view. Our room was immaculate, huge and very very comfortable with flat screen tv and ipod dock and speakers. All staff were very friendly and the bar does a good selection of cocktails and bar snacks. Concierge are great at helping to arrange and organise trips. Would def return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to others.

This hotel was great. We found the staff great and the hotel was clean and immaculate. The beach was the best ever and the snorkling was amazing. We paid quite a lot extra for the fantastic sea view which was amazing, however the one really annoying thing is that hotel guests would congregate in the hot tub at sometimes 3 am in the morning for a chat. After a night of drinking the conversation would be exceptionally loud and I am sure we were not the only guests that would be woken up nearly every night of our stay. I understand that the hotel has a sign asking guests not to swim or hot tub after 11 pm but this is not clearly displayed and either guests don't see it or don't care. But apart from that I would definitely stay there again
