I didn't get as much time to research as I would normally for this trip, so it was great to arrive and be pleased with the choice of hotel. A friendly welcome, a spacious clean and comfortable room, close to the famous 7 mile beach and excellent value. We booked for only one night (just in case), but almost immediately on arrival booked to stay the three nights we had in Grand Cayman.
Reception staff were super helpful, explaining how the local transport worked to get into Georgetown from right outside - hail a bus, get on and pay $2 as you get off; also directing us to Red Sail Sports, straight over the road from Sunshine Suites - on to the beach turn right and walk about 50metres. (Have to recommend the trip to Stingray City, and there's also a variety of craft for hire). There's also a few shops very close at hand if you need them.
We didn't need to go far for excellent food and service at the Sunshine grill...breakfast and dinner (no need for lunch).
If I was returning to the Caymans, I's choose to stay here again. Thanks to all.

I stayed at the Sunshine Suites with my husband from Oct 22-29, 2011 and we had an amazing time. We got a great rate on a 1 bedroom suite with a $100USD resort credit. The rooms were spotless, large and comfortable. I was a bit concerned about what the bed would be like as I am a bit picky about where I sleep, but it was heaven! The pillows were so amazing and I haven't slept as well since the Sunshine Suites. The hotel staff are great from the maintenance staff to the bar staff to the manager making us feel like we were guests in their home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for amazing value in the Cayman Islands.

Room Tip: Try to stay on a side without the bypass as it can be a bit "loud". There isn't much t...

My brother had told me about the Sunshine Suites and told it was a great place to say. I have now thanked several time for this. The room was always very neat and clean with more fresh towels and smelled really fresh. The staff at the front desk were more that helpful with any questions I had for them and took care of an air conditioning problem we had very quickly. The highlight of the Suites is its small restaurant!! The food was outstanding! Service was great. Be sure to try the fish taco and the Pain killer. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet they had every morning. We chose to pay for the $8.00 one. The food was good and made it so we usually did not have to eat lunch that day. There may be more expensive places to stay but this place it hard to be no matter how much you pay somewhere else!

Many thanks for your lovely comments. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we do hope we see you back again soon.

We just wanted to clarify the breakfast situation as it can be confusing.

We offer a complimentary Continental Breakfast daily for all guests, however for US$6.25 / CI$5 per person, you can get the "All you can eat" hot buffet breakfast which includes items such as hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages & gravy, fish of the day, delicious french toast, fresh fruit, breads, cereals etc. This represents the best value breakfast on the whole island!

See you soon and thanks again for choosing to stay with us.

The Sunshine Team.

My wife and I honeymooned in late October on Grand Cayman and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunshine Suites. We got what we expected from being so close to gorgeous Seven Mile Beach, which is just a stone's throw from Sunshine Suites - right across the street
and between the Ritz and the Westin. The beach is incredibly clean, accessible, and inviting.

We've traveled internationally and stayed in too many hotels. If you're sick of the typical front-desk/concierge/uninspired restaurant situation, you should consider staying at Sunshine Suites. The front desk employees, led by Trina, are exceptionally helpful and willing to
solve problems for guests. We're not the pickiest people, but we were pretty bummed out by Hurricane Rina storms raining on us periodically through our recent trip, and they went above and beyond to set us up with activities, rental car, etc. We really enjoyed talking with the
staff and they helped get us into Island Mode to properly chill out.

The food at the Sunshine Grill is so well reviewed for a reason. It's outstanding, flavorful, and reasonably priced (for Caymans...). They make great Painkillers and other cocktails at the bar, the fish tacos are incredible, and the burgers are big and juicy. Darrin, the restaurant manager, is one of the kindest people we've ever met in our travels. Chatting with him seems like you're talking to an old friend or relative.

We were happy with the tiny kitchenette in our studio suite. The room on the small side, but just what we wanted for our honeymoon. We would prefer to cook for ourselves than eat out every night, so the type of apartment-like room was worth every penny.

Aside from the friendly staff, the comfort of the room, the solid food/drinks at the restaurant, the grounds are also exceptionally clean. You're within a few blocks to bars and shopping, so it's really an ideal spot to stay if you plan on shacking up on Seven Mile Beach.

Cheers to everyone at Sunshine Suites - we really enjoyed our time with you.

The Sunshine suites is a clean, well maintained hotel located a block from the crystal clear waters of the world famous 7 mile beach corridor.

You can pay twice as much and stay at the toney Ritz Carlton. Or you can stay at the SS, cross the road and swim and tan on the same beach that the Ritz sits on. You can even refresh yourself at the Ritz’ outdoor bar or visit Eric Ripert's fantastic restaurant. But I digress...

SS's strong suit is its low cost and hominess. The rooms are cleaned every day and air conditioned. It’s quiet. They also have a better than average kitchen that prepares burgers, wraps and other things. Most stays include a complimentary breakfast which will fuel you for the whole day.

After breakfast you can grab a couple of beach chairs and cross the road to famous 7 mile beach. Snorkelers can swim out about 50 yards for a nice view of coral beds and reef fish.

The location on 7MB is convenient to go downtown via one of several local buses, or you can walk to many great places to eat. Or take a nice walk to the other side of the island. Tour operators to stingray city and other dive and snorkel trips are located in the strip mall adjacent to the property as is a sushi joint, a sports bar, a liquor store and another restaurant. In short everything you need for a nice, relaxing stay.

And be sure to try the "pain killer" rum cocktail at the bar. Wash it down with a nice Caybrew!

This place has the feel of an inn rather than a big resort. It has lovely landscaping. The rooms are bright, have more than the usual hotel room lighting and outlets, which is helpful for computers and cell phones. The rooms have small kitchens and are brightly decorated. The staff were all very pleasant. The Sunshine Suites has wi-fi access, plus a room with computers available for guests to use. They also rent bicycles. The Sunshines Suites is conveniently located nearby shops and restaurants and has easy beach access across the street. They have complementary gym membership with World Gym, which is not within walking distance and to our disappointment did not have yoga classes so we did not make use of it. Rooms come with a complementary breakfast in the pleasant Sunshine Grill. The coffee, juice and piece of fruit are good, but the cereal, mini-muffins and toast were a disappointment. The full breakfast, priced at $6 (Cayman) or $8 (US) wasn't worth it. All in all, a very pleasant place in a convenient location.
