My wife and I went there late August for our anniversary. We are Scuba Divers and opted for the diving package, as we saw the reviews were really good. I have to admit, when we first pulled up, my first thought was "oh oh. This could be bad" as it didn't look like much, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

The good:
AMAZING STAFF! - So incredibly helpful! Anything we needed, they took care of. Called about our diving, they connected us, called about renting a car, they called and made arrangements for us to be picked up and taken there, called about Stingray city, they called and made reservations...I could go on and on. Always polite and caring.

Very clean - room and grounds were spotless.

Air Conditioning - Why would I mention it? Because that thing worked and worked stupidly well! Could get the room as warm or as cold as I wanted. And by cold, I mean meat locker cold if I so wished.

Food - The restaurant which looks like a little shack is rated one of the best on the island and for good reason. Even the locals come there for the fish tacos which says a lot.

Inexpensive - Compared to everything else, this was a bargain.

Close to everything - Not too close to Georgetown (5 min drive) which is good in order to avoid the cruise ships mayhem, but not too far either.

Full Kitchen in room - Including coffee pot, microwave, oven, stove, fridge...everything you need.

Great Scuba Diving - They had our package with Divers Down who picked us up every day and brought us back. The people from that shop were amazing and had some of the best Scuba Diving of our lives (posted videos on YouTube. Search for khenakara.

The bad:
Considering the price, the bad isn't that bad, but had to be mentioned:

Not on the beach - and no view to the beach from any room. It's just across the street, so not a huge walk.

Small rooms - Not tiny, but not big by any means.

Hammocks were old - Hammocks hanging outside are old and very basic. They need some new ones bad!

Conclusion:
We loved it! We opted for the diving package as we are both scuba divers and it was still cheaper than other hotels on the beach. Considering how much time we spent in our room, it would have been stupid to spend more somewhere else.
All we want is comfort, clean, and friendly staff which we got here in spades. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the sunshine suites from Saturday-Thursday. We had a great time. the beach was very close and right across the street, it was like a private beach basically. there were sometimes chairs from the hotel already on the beach but otherwise we carried our own from the hotel. the food at the grill was delicious. all of the staff there were extremely helpful and very friendly and chatty. if we needed anything, they brought it right to our room. The reason we stayed here was because it was considerably cheaper than the rest, but everything was clean and nice. rooms were quite small but totally fine as we were rarely in them. We were able to walk to almost every restaurant we went to at night which was great, no $$ spent on taxis. I personally prefer luxurious and spacious hotels and rooms, but this was doable and clean. I recommend it for a vacation on a budget!!!

Rooms were inexpensive w small kitchenette. Was very well kept. The staff were very pleasant. It was easy to access transportation and the beach. Absolutely a great value.

The Cayman Islands were a great choice. A clean, safe, beautiful island. The food was terrific. The beaches were gorgeous. The people were very nice. One of our best vacations.

We were very pleased with our stay here. Quiet hotel, not like a crowded resort. Staff was great. Rooms are not over the top fancy and but our suitcases were the ones staying there more than we were. The beach is right across the street and by no means an inconvenience. They provide chairs and towels. I bought noodles to have at the beach and there is limited umbrellas but you can buy one at the store and they are not expensive (although we never had to).. The Sunshine Grill at the hotel is great. The pool is great. the grounds are beautiful. There is a great liquor store about one minute away. Also a cafe and sushi restaurant within a one minute walk. Seven mile beach is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The best thing for me was how accommodating the staff was. We stayed at the hotel for three days before leaving to go stay on Cayman Brac island. Out plane wasn't till 4 and they were accommodating by letting us check out at 1 instead of 5. We came back to the hotel after a few days in cayman Brac and we were able to check in early and check out late when we left. I would definitely stay here again!

We got put here by the airport after not getting on our flight and got to stay two extra nights in beautiful Grand Cayman. The place was clean and nice, friendly staff. The beach was a short walk across the street and it's near the best place I've ever eaten, Eats Cafe. The beach was busy, but we stayed in Bodden Town the whole week so it was a big change. However it was nice getting to see and stay near 7 Mile Beach. The water is a lot more calm and pretty, the snorkeling is just so so, but atleast here you could walk out into the water with soft sand. If I wanted a cheap get away or maybe something in town for a few nights next time I go, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the bottom floor and it was nice to just get out and go.

We stayed here in August 2013. There is nothing bad to say about this place. At all! We like people and when we stay somewhere, the staff is just as important to us as the place itself. I booked our trip over the phone with Isabel. From that point on, I knew this place was going to be something special. She was so helpful, so friendly, and called us back when we left a message. She exuded "sunshine" from the telephone. When we arrived and met the others at the front desk, I knew we had picked the right place. lThe staff are some of the most pleasant and helpful folks you would ever want to meet. At front desk, we met Isabel, Claudine, and Renoir. They love their work and it shows. They always greeted us with a welcoming and friendly "hello" (oder "guten Morgen") and were always smiling. They were helpful with finding directions, recommending places to visit and/or eat, making reservations, or just talking and having conversation. They are part of what makes this place so good. Same goes for staff in breakfast room where complimentary small continental type breakfast is available. Always greeted with a "good morning". Housekeeping staff also very friendly and helpful. Same for Sunshine Grill where you will meet Cyrstal, Karen, Brianna, Kayla and more. They too, are all about smiles and conversation and great service and a few laughs. This place is a gem. We met people who came from other resorts to eat here or to check out the resort and they stopped and asked us about the place. Well, we couldn't say enough. They could tell we loved this place so much, they asked if we were related to someone who worked there. They were sorry they had not booked there and now with talking in person to someone, they were convinced they had made a mistake, but there is always next time, we told them. We can't wait to go back and hope that we will bump into some of these folks again as they were just as important in making the place as wonderful an experience as the resort itself.

We were unfortunately slightly mis-sold the sunshine suites (Kuoni)

The accommodation was good and staff very helpful, clean and tidy etc but there were things we would have expected for a 3.5/4 star hotel, that weren't available or up to spec

Noisy air con, slightly dodge shower and hob not working 100%

However that being said we loved our time here and our room. Its a great location to get around, and really near the beach (7 mile)

There are free deck chairs to take along to beach, pool is clean and very close to the sunshine grill, which is handy.

reception staff are helpful.

The people staying seem to be on the "older" than us side, 40ish, but that suited us as we didn't want lively party, we wanted chilled and friendly which this place most definitely is!

Room Tip: double check quiet air con, and probably further away from the restaurant and pool area would be mor...
