I live in Cayman. We booked this hotel because we were having renovations done at our home nearby, and told them at the time that we might have to change the reservation if the job did not start on time. We found out two days before the date of the reservation that we did have to move it.
Katie, the manager, says she isn't the one that took the booking and is not bound by what we told them when we made the reservation. They would not refund nor change the reservation.
Normally hotels waive cancellation penalties if you defer (not cancel) the reservations whether for flights or other unforeseen problems, but not Sunshine Suites. I think this unusual and is a short sighted policy: they still lost a 3-4 day booking, by putting short term profit ahead of customer service. They would not give a discount for not staying at the hotel.
I would recommend against booking with them because of this: flights into Cayman are relatively infrequent and occasionally there are overnight delays in Miami or other gateway. With this hotel, and their policy you WILL be stuck with the charge anyway.More
