“A destination the defines vacation”

After reading some the reviews associated with this location, I was a little concerned about the experience. However, it was all placed at ease when the hotel greeter met us at the airport to confirm our arrival and assist us within our taxi. This might not typically seem like a big deal but when you're travelling with a party of fourteen (14) transporation arrangements are very important. When we arrived at the hotel we were definetly greeted with a ice cold juice drinks to sip while we checked in. During our visit the staff at the Ritz were truly exceptional and worth every cent! We were greeted everyday and provided assistances with towels, rentals, and directions (on the property an off). We dined at the Blue restaurant on site and while the food was excellent (try the ravioli if it is still available) the price (of course I realized this after five glasses of wine) was extremely high--but if your budget can support it its worth a visit. The rooms on the ocean side of the hotel were spacious and the access to the beach will save you a long walk through the hotel from the resort side.

This hotel and their staff really made life simple for us during our stay and I would highly reccomend staying here! Another tip, there are some local food spots off the resort that can save you lots of dough if you consider trying this out. The ones we eat at were Deckers, Legends, and Aqua!

We had never stayed at a Ritz Carlton before because we were concerned it might be stuffy - but our trip May 3-10,2011 to the Grand Cayman Ritz Carlton proved to be one of the most fantastic stays we have had! If you go just after the end of the high season (usually April 15th) - the prices are 50% less! Rooms at this hotel are split between a large wing (cheaper prices usually) with resort view which does entail a small walk to the beachfront - or ocean front (which is what we selected). When you stay ocean front you overlook the beach, lovely grounds, and get to see a gorgeous sunset every night from your balcony! When we arrived we were thrilled to find we had been upgraded to the penthouse level (top floor). The staff is outstanding and they remember your names - and the food is fantastic - their champagne Sunday brunch is outstanding with 3 types of caviar, wonderful food, and endless desserts. Our package also included 1 day use of a beach cabana. We much prefer this hotel to the Westin (which is a short walk further down the beach).

Room Tip: book a package thru a travel agency

Stayed here for several day's with my Mom and brother right before Christmas. Had a gorgeous waterfront room, and the people just couldnt have been any nicer. Even got upgraded to concierge level! Beach was beautiful, sunsets to die for...swam with stingrays and dolphins...a once in a lifetime experience!

Room Tip: know someone...lol!

We just got back from a week long stay in an ocean view Club Level room at the Ritz. What a great trip! We have no complaints about the trip whatsoever! From the moment we arrived, (greeted with Champagne in the Club lounge!) until we left we were treated so well!
Laura and Mercedes in the Club lounge were so helpful with reservations and suggestions for our trip. The entire staff of the Club lounge were great and would get you anything you wanted! I would recommend the Club level for anyone traveling with children. Great food presented four times a day! Easy to feed the children, they served cereal, fruit, yogurt, quiche for breakfast.. Soups, sandwiches and salads at midday and Sushi, cheeses and other heavy appetizers every night, Champagne and wine presented at lunch, dinner and dessert. We saved so much money by eating in the Club lounge for most of our meals.
Our 6 year old son really enjoyed the kids activities at the Ambassadors of the Environment! Their staff was incredible! We also enjoyed the nightly movies under the stars by Periwinkle restaurant. We had an amazing meal at Blue...the tasting menu was the way to go for us!
All in all, great trip made better by choosing the best hotel on the island to stay at. It was our second trip to Grand Cayman and choosing the Ritz Carlton was the best decision we could have made. One final bit of info, you are charged a daily service charge that is meant for tipping the pool and room attendants. They also add the tips to all of the food and drinks at the pool Bar Jacks.

Its a very nice hotel, please stay on the beach side adn understand you can go down the road to other nice places to eat. The hotel will do as little as possible and try to give you a so-so room

Push to get something out of them

MM

Just got back and couldn't wait to write this review. We spent the last 8 days at the Ritz and left feeling like part of the family. Our family of 3, my husband, myself and our 14 month old daughter decided to try this hotel after reading the family friendly reviews, not to mention got a pretty good package. We were certainly worried about the costs due to some of the reviews but after our vacation, we decided that you get exactly what you pay for. From the moment we stepped foot in the lobby to the moment we left, the staff was nothing but friendly, bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable. This is especially important when you are traveling with a toddler. My daughter didn't want to leave the restaurants b/c she was having so much fun with the staff. The most expensive part is the food. Plan on spending at least $60-$70 per meal when budgeting. You can venture off the resort and spend 50% less but we found staying around to be more convenient with our daughter. Barjacks doesn't have great food, but the views are amazing. 7 is great for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's also the only indoor spot to eat with A/C and no mosquitos. We learned (too late of course) that there is a package that includes breakfast, I highly recommend going with this b/c breafast buffet is $28 CI so $30+ USD per person. If we had known, we would have gone that route. Periwinkle is good and offers an outdoor movie for the kids which is nice. Note that we did try the other hotels breakfast just to compare, both the Marriott and Westin were terrible. We left both feeling unwanted, nothing compared to the Ritz. We concluded that we picked the best hotel on the island, we will not stay anywhere else if we return. We were thrown off when our daughter became ill with a fever, the Ritz specifically Alice was amazing. She ran to get us to the best hospital, made sure the cab driver waited for us, and she called the hospital to check in on us. She made us feel so safe, we knew that they would help us with anything that we needed. Thank you so much Alice. Finally, you are also have the nicest, cleanest beach on 7 mile @ the Ritz. The other hotels were filthy. The only thing I would do differently next time is bring someone to help with the baby so we can have a break to enjoy more of the resort amenties. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

Room Tip: The best, most family friendly staff event.

We figured with the resort fee of $45 per room (had 2 rooms with adult children) would cover the beach chairs, parking, wi-fi, etc and it did. Meals are very expensive- do yourself a favor for breakfast, go to "Eats Cafe" just 1 block away (in West End), for lunch walk down the beach to the Westin for on beach restaurant at half the cost. Many close by restaurants for dinner. The hotel itself had great, spacious rooms, very comfortable. The staff are top notch and very informative- ask for dinner recommendations. Great beach & facilities.
