“Nice Beach, Solid Hotel”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Hotel is nice size and has very friendly staff. Grand Cayman is a solid location but the island doesn't offer more than a beach with some beautiful water. I recommend getting up early and reserving chairs in the front row as the chairs fill up quickly with hotel guests. Blue Tip golf course is only 9 holes, but is a nice break for a few hours.

This one of the most relaxing and beautiful vacation places I've ever been to. This place is just amazing. Not too crowded and has a certain caliber of guests. Certainly you can expect to pay a premium for this luxury but it is well worth it. Water is crystal clear and beaches are amazing. Staff is superb and on point as well.

My husband and I stayed at the Ritz for our 30th anniversary. This hotel made this one of the best vacations we have ever had. We were called by name over and over. Thanked for staying at their hotel, and ran into a staff member outside of the elevator ( can't remember her name) and she noticed my sunburned legs. When we got back to our room she had left fresh aloe to help the burning. We were surprised with fruit and champagne and the last night we were there they left chocolates and a personal note. The club level staff went above and beyond over and over. Club level completely paid for itself. Wonderful tasty healthy food which which added something different every day. We enjoyed Seven for our anniversary. Wow! It was fabulous. The friendliness of the hotel was spread to the guests and it was amazing how often guests shared where they were from as they were enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Perfect strangers would look up, smile and say hello in passing. Will definitely be back o the Ritz Grand Cayman!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 831. Perfect pool and ocean view! Easy walk to beach.

Lovely place to stay - fantastic views and amenities, staff very helpful and views to die for, Was lucky enough not to be paying, but the price of a few cocktails did push the mortage up - never mind. Sit by the beach and just chill

Stayed @ the Ritz as they were part of American Express Fine Hotel program for our anniversary.

As with any ritz, the service was very personal (no less than 5 staff members remembered and called us by name each day). I still regard the Montage properties as one of the best hotels for service compared to ritz, four seasons, intercontinental, waldorfs and rosewood etc..

One thing to note is they have 2 buildings connected by a 'gallery' / indoor bridge. You can stay on the laguna side or the beach side and easily walk to one another.

The spa silver rain had a very nice decor in the general entrance area as well as in the mens spa itself. Nothing fancy in terms of the showers (no body spray, rain shower etc) but does its job. The hot tub was large enough but during both of my visits the steam room nor the sauna was turned up so i had to turn them on manually. The steam room could also use a good scrubbing to get rid of the mildew smell and build up near the steam vents or at least spray some eucalyptus spray. They also had mens la prairie face, body lotion and face soap available for use. The cold towels were a nice touch as well. (In vegas most of the nicer hotel spas will have the spa attendants bring buckets of ice with water bottles or fresh juices which would of been nice here along with magazines for lounging around.

As far as the beach goes its marvelous. They have chairs with individual covers that can swing completely forward or backwards to provide adequate coverage during the sun. The beach itself also had plenty of water toys to lay out or ride but no man made corals so little to no fish and not worth snorkeling. The cabanas and beds were a bit overpriced as it was only for the cost for use and not a minimum. I would of gladly paid for a $400~600 drink/food minimum .

The pool near the beach side was very relaxing with prompt service.

in terms of dining we at @ blue (best restaurant possibly in the Caribbean) , taikun (sushi) and at seven for breakfast (twice) , pool side bar. if you don't mind walking outside the ritz we also highly recommend fish tacos @ sunshine suites or Indian @ gateway to india.

Overall had a great time and would return. The best service came from the house keeping and the restaurant staff from Seven & Blue.

We visited to celebrate an anniversary in April.
Rooms: upgraded to a suite (resort side), we were very impressed by the size and quality of the room. Had all the amenities you could need. Walk to beach a non issue for us.
Beach: beautiful water, great beach chairs (with adjustable canopies), great food/drink service at beach. Chairs just to close together, severe lack of privacy. Tables & pads in water were a nice touch. If you want to sit in the front row better get there early.
Food: amazing! Blue is a legitimate Michelin worthy restaurant, brunch was also very special. Very expensive though!
Service: Everyone we encountered was well trained & very friendly, our needs were constantly anticipated. Providing personalized service is clearly a focus of the Ritz. Our anniversary was acknowledged at every meal, chocolate strawberries were delivered on our first night as as well.
We had a fantastic time, our only complaint was the crowded beach chair area & noise level of some of the guests who were there to party.

We usually travel to the Caribbean for vacation, as stated on previous reviews. Our main purpose is being pampered and relaxing on a great beach spot. We returned to this resort because our great experience in 2011 (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g147367-d302259-r121085792-Ritz_Carlton_Grand_Cayman-Seven_Mile_Beach_Grand_Cayman_Cayman_Islands.html).
As we promised, we returned and spent now 10 days on this beautiful and luxurious resort. We found renovated rooms and better buffet breakfast at Seven, even with vegetable freshly squeezed juices, although more expensive (92 USD for 2, tax included). Overall, the service was top notched. The weather in April was great, the beach glorious, but the sea was somewhat rougher a few days.
Nevertheless, on our first 3 days there were some unexpected issues related to the service that broken our previous enchantment. At check-in we weren’t recognized as loyal and returning guests, different from what happened with other guests checking-in at the same time (this, isolated, could be a minor issue…). On the second day, a beach attendant didn’t replace the broken sunbed at our request, alleging that there weren’t any more available. We found some available and we switched the sunbed on our own (at a Ritz-Carlton!). On the third day, housekeeping forgot our room, and we found it at 4:00 pm the same way it was when we left it at 7:00 am. We called Guest Services. When we returned to room 40 minutes later, we found that there was no light in the shower. We had to wait more 30 minutes to have the lamp replaced and only then we could shower. We reported all these issues to the management that tried unsuccessfully to repair the damage done to our vacation. All these issues isolated could be forgotten, but they happened consecutively during the first 3 days and didn’t allow us to really enjoy our precious vacation.
We must emphasize that the service is essentially extraordinary. Even the housekeeping service was flawless from that time on. But we are beach lovers that spent 8 hours each day at the beach during the entire vacation. And we found an inconsistent service there, even after our claim. There was a great downgrading after our previous stay. It’s true that there is a big problem with new sunbeds; it’s hard to find one without a dysfunctional canopy and more than a half had already lost their canopy. Furthermore, the complimentary service was almost absent: during our 10 days at the beach we had 2 watermelon slices, one juice cup and 2 refreshing cold towels… On our previous stay we had juice or fruit twice a day and cold towels daily.
When we choose to stay on a top brand resort for a beach vacation, we paid for it but we expect to receive some attentions in return. Unfortunately, this Ritz-Carlton failed this time with these beach lovers and hasn’t reached our expectations. We had a better beach service on our previous stay and on other resorts elsewhere.
It’s painful, but we can’t rate the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman with 5 stars anymore. We hope things improve at the beach and we will probably return someday.
