“Beautiful spot”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

First time on Grand Cayman. We spent a delightful spring break week in a beautifully furnished, spacious unit on the top floor. It felt quiet and private. There is an unobstructed view of the ocean from the living room and master bedroom. Enjoyed the screened in porch and private balcony too. There is a nicely equipped kitchen (if anyone really wants to cook on vacation?!) The location is great, next door to the Ritz, where you can pop over for a drink or a meal, and not far from the Westin where there is a little shopping as well as dining. The pool is beautiful. Everything on the property is well maintained. Staff were attentive. The beach area was not crowded and we could usually get a beach chair and umbrella any time of day (while our friends staying at the hotels had to get out early in the morning to claim spots). Teens enjoyed the beach volleyball. We had a rental car to get to grocery, restaurants etc. If you're ambitious, you could walk to shop or dine. One of the more expensive options on Seven Miles Beach, but also one of the nicest, it seemed to us.

This was our second visit to the CSC and did not disappoint. We stayed on the top level this time condo nearest the Ritz. The middle floor has a discount for 2 bdrms. I didn't bother looking at other properties because we really liked the uncrowded beach, the size of the pool and the convenient central location. The ritz next door is nice for lunch, and red sail beach sport rentals closeby. The condos are clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable.

We stayed in Unit 21 with our two sons, their wives and our 17 month old grandson. The condo looked just like the pictures on the web site and was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed to make this a fantastic vacation. The pool is gorgeous and there was never a problem getting a chaise at either the pool, the beach or the beach huts. There are tons of beach toys and pool rafts available. i booked the ground floor because of our grandson but I would highly recommend staying on the ground floor even without children as it is extremely convenient to just step outside and be right at the beach or pool. The complex is very well maintained and a great central location.

My only complaints are that the air conditioning did not work as well in the master bedroom as the rest of the condo and the 3rd bathroom is very small. I also had arranged for a crib and high chair to be in the condo and reconfirmed it before we arrived but they were not there. Maintenance said he was not informed but he immediately went and got the crib and high chair and brought them to the condo.

Room Tip: Ground floor units are more convenient for access to the pool and beach.

This was our second stay at Coral Stone Club. We love everything about it! The location on seven mile beach where we enjoy swimming in the ocean and the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen. It's convenient to many great restaurants and Fosters grocery store. Our unit was very nicely decorated and provided everything we needed. There is also a nice workout room with great equipment. One night we always use the outdoor grill. This is a lot of fun as you usually meet another visitor and learn something new about the island. The staff is very nice and accommodating. When we return to the Coral Stone, it feels like coming home! That says a lot! Can't wait to go back next year.

This is a great beach front location about midway on seven mile beach. The sand is perfect with nearby snorkeling....about as close to perfection as it comes. There is a short drive into town but far enough away from the busy terminal. Several restaurants, limited shopping, and a grocery store are all within a 10 minute walk .We all felt very secure on and near the property.

The inside of unit 24 was splendid. This is certainly 5 star all the way. The owners have done an amazing job of providing everything needed for dining in (once you see the prices of the local restaurants you will gain an appreciation of this). We really appreciated that everyone had plenty of space and that each bedroom has its own full bath. Lastly, the housekeepers do a wonderful job of keeping your unit spotless.

The exterior of the property (as are the other properties on seven mile beach) is understated and gives no hint of how nice the interior is. I guess if one has a view like is afforded here who needs bells and whistles!

Last point..if you are looking for lots excitement this (and perhaps the entire island) may not be for you. This is a quite, very tasteful, relaxing atmosphere. This is the perfect location for mature couples and families! Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Choose a bottom floor unit and simply step out onto the beach

Before picking the Coral Stone club, I looked at many different condo complexes on 7 mile beach to make sure we were picking the best location. But my decision was made easier by two factors. First, I was reading the Fodor’s guide and the top reason given to stay at this condo was because there was “more beach per guest than any other place in Grand Cayman” – and since I love the beach, it sounded like the best choice we could make. Then, knowing this property was next to the Ritz Carlton, I asked a good friend who stayed at the Ritz last year if she remembered anything about the condo right next to her hotel. And she told me they always wondered why the beach never looked crowded. And at that point it was clear that if the beach is the same size at the two properties, and the Coral Stone has 300 less rooms, the beach would be much nicer at the Coral Stone. And it was. Bottom line is if you like staying in a large, renovated and beautiful condo, with gorgeous views, with a spacious beach and pool, then the Coral Stone Club is for you. Matter of fact, we walked miles up and down the beach and there were only a handful of properties that had a beach as nice as the Coral Stone, and really, no one had a nicer beach.

We stayed for 6 nights in Condo 29, on the second floor in the building closest to the Ritz. They closed off the 3rd bedroom because we only needed 2 bedrooms and reduced the rate by about $170 per night. We still had three bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed, TV, large closet, spacious modern bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the beautiful beach and water. The second bedroom had twin beds and was big enough but the shower in that bathroom is kind of small. The good news is there was a third full bathroom so our teens used that shower instead. Not a big deal – just worth noting.

The condo units next to the Ritz are fine but be aware that the Ritz does have corporate events, with music, you can see all their hundreds of chairs, we even saw a wedding on their beach. We were fine with the music because they stopped playing by 10, but it is probably quieter in a room on the opposite side of the Coral Stone. It was not a problem – we’d be happy to stay in the same condo again, just noting it in case you want it very quiet.
The kitchen was modern, with new appliances and was incredibly clean. Actually the entire unit felt brand new, so the recent renovation they advertise is totally accurate. There is a large living room/dining room combination with a screened in porch overlooking the beach. A ceiling fan helps keep the porch cool. There was a really comfortable table and chairs on the porch and of course, no bugs, because it was screened in. It was nice to have both a porch and an open-air deck!

The beach is quite wide at the Coral Stone Club. There are little 7 or 8 huts (palapa) on the beach and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Never had a problem getting a palapa or a chair. No need to run out at 7am to get a chair. There was always one available. Lots of young kids at the pool, which is fine but just know there are a lot of kids. Some of the more mature properties cater more to adults. It wasn’t a problem but there were a lot of kids. If I have one criticism of the resort, it’s the actual lounge chairs. They’re not terribly comfortable but certainly adequate. It’s probably the only thing I was mildly disappointed with. The ocean is turquoise blue, crystal clear and you float for hours. So very relaxing.

I’ve been to many islands in the Carribean and was reluctant to try the Caymans because I knew it was modern and more crowded than other islands we traveled to. And it was crowded, by quaint island standards ( we go to Anguilla and St John a lot ), but the water was so blue, and so clean, the island so relatively safe, the people so friendly, the accommodations so lovely, that I found that I really appreciated Grand Cayman and can’t wait to return. Loved the fact that most of the hotels are 20 minutes from the airport, loved the fact you could walk to many restaurants (try Eduardo’s and Sunshine Grill), loved the fact you could walk out of your condo and be on beach in 30 seconds.

The Coral Stone Club was a wonderful place to stay, as you see from all the other reviews. One thing I’ve learned from TripAdvisor. When every single review is positive, you can be pretty sure you are making the right choice. Next time in the Caymans – we will be back at the Coral Stone Club. Can’t wait.

Room Tip: Second and third floor rooms have better view but first floor rooms have walkout access to the beach...

This was our second stay at Coral Stone Club (December 2012). Travelling as a couple without any kids, we wanted a one bedroom, but didn't find anything we liked, so last year, we took the two bedroom option at Coral Stone Club. Great location, nice condo, wonderful staff. We booked again for this year and are not sorry. Corina and Valerie go out of their way to help you with anything small question or problem that arises. Evan, Coralstone's maintenance man is on-site and right there if you need anything. We love the beach there, as it's uncrowded. We've stayed in two other places on Seven Mile beach, one condo Villas of the Galleon which we did like, and stayed at several times, and one large hotel, the Westin, which we liked well enough, when we had rooms right on the front of the property right on the beach, but those rooms are really limited and you can't always get them. . We stayed there 3 times. We really didn't like having to eat every morning, noon and night in a restaurant. The beach at each was great, but got crowded in the case of the hotel, and in the case of the condo, had no pool or hot tub, which we like to have. The only possible downside to Coralstone is when families with small children don't supervise them. Even though they are told not to have very small kids in the hot tubs (under 8) we several times saw unsupervised little children in them. Parents either sleeping, reading or not visible nearby. Kind of scary. Also, some families let their kids fill pathways and the beach with dozens of beach toys, and they never picked them up. Inconsiderate. If you want full service, you have to go to a hotel. But we prefer cooking many of our own meals, as we are vegetarians and get tired of ordering the same, one thing on any given menu that is not fish or meat. Rent a car in Cayman, and be sure to go to the Mastic Trail! It's actual forest on such a small island, with great birding and hiking if you like that sort of thing. Bring sturdy closed shoes for it, as some of it is lava rack. Snorkeling is fantastic at Smith Baccadere past the downtown. And if you want souveniers that are not made in China, you can go past Smith's a bit and on the left there is a place called "Pure Art" where we found lovely gifts made by the artists on Cayman. (There is also an art gallery on West Bay Road in the 'pink' shopping center, where they have only Cayman artist's prints and originals.) Queen Elizabeth Botanical Gardens is a beautiful day trip, and again, you will see many local birds and beautiful flowers, and the Cayman Blue Iguana running around. Over the years we've tried The Lighthouse restaurant, which was good, Eduardo's which was excellent, Al A Kebab which is close by and basically nicely made fast food, Ragazzi's which is fantastic, and the Brick House for pizza which is good. A place called Eats is up the street and across the way, and it's good diner food. There are tons of restaurants on the island and if you are not vegetarian, you'll probably like most of them. We shopped at Fosters and once at Kirk's. Both have anything you would want, although surprisingly, we could not find Twinings English Breakfast Tea to save our lives!

The two units we rented on the 'two bedroom' plan (there are only a few that do that) were different from each other: One was a bit dated, and had too-soft bedding in the master (unit #9) and the other also needed some updating in the kitchen, and needed a better TV in the living room (unit #29). But overall, both units were lovely, with one open patio off the master bedroom, and a screened in patio off the living. You will not like the hurricane doors unless you are a large athlete -- you have to learn to use them from the housekeeper. Oh! Bev was our housekeeper, and she was a gem! She is warm and friendly and does a good job. She even ran out to the beach one day to tell us a schedule of a christmas market which we had asked about, and she had not been sure! If you can, ask for her by name.

Another great vacation on Grand Cayman. We'll be back to Coral Stone Club.

Room Tip: Look at the units on-line and choose the decor and location you want. 2nd floor units are great. B...
