“we return as often as we can!”
Reviewed 13 March 2011

We have stayed at Treasure Island condos many times, and the improved snorkeling and swimming cove recently completed has kept the beach sandy. Ground floor, oceanfront is the only way I'll go to the Caribbean! The on site dive shop is fantastic, as well. We've used them for years.

My three young kids (7, 5, 2), wife and I had a wonderful stay at Treasure Island.
Both the pool view and ocean view condos were ideal and while I first worried about being on the ground floor, it turned out by mid-week I was much happier that the kids could run in and out without having to go out of sight to get upstairs.

Debbie, who manages the property, is a rock star. On the first night there, after returning from dinner with three very tired kids the key to our condo broke in the lock. She was out and about but literally showed up with another key in under 7 minutes. (Keep her cell number handy!!)

We did encounter a lot of tiny ants in our kitchen and dining area - not sure if this is a fact of life in the Caribbean or if it's a fact of life having kids who drop food on the floor, etc. It got a little annoying towards the end of our stay but we never complained so a solution might have been available - we didn't push.

All and all, I would absolutely return to Treasure Island. The location was great, rooms were nice and the surrounding area is favorable for a 5 to 25 min walk for good food, groceries or booze.

Coconut Joe’s was great for both dinner and breakfast and I would absolutely try ICOA Fine Foods – salmon bagel and egg benedict were unbelievable. Also try the Sunshine Grill which was outstanding for lunch by the pool there.

We also did Blue at the Ritz – no, didn’t bring the kids. Wife and I did both of the tasting menus and wine pairings. It is a budget buster in every sense but if you’re going to splurge while in Cayman, splurge here…

Dulce de Vita was also great – perfect for a sunset dinner and the ice cream shop on the first floor offered a nice, local business feel.

Learn to take the public buses vs. taxis if you want to save money – the bus acts just like a taxi besides picking up other passengers.

Will write individual reviews on the Turtle Farm (pass) and Dolphin Cove (worth the cost/effort).

Enjoy Cayman!!!! (You will REALLY miss it when you’re back home)

cannot fault the location and size of the condo on seven mile beach. excellent facilities and great swimming cove. only complaint is the lack of daily maid service- towels were replaced daily if we managed to catch the maid and bin emptied if we asked but 6 people create quite a bit of mess and for the price of the accommodation, a higher level of cleaning service would be expected. otherwise, a fantastic and highly reccommended vacation.

We recently spent a week at one of the beach front condos at Treasure Island Condominiums. This is our fourth stay with Treasure Island and I am happy to say that each stay is better! The accommodations were clean and well furnished. Our patio was the perfect setting for afternoon sunsets. The beach has been renovated with a private cove for snorkeling and easy in and out access. The cove is also perfect for those that like to relax on a raft without worry of drifting out to sea. For those that like longer beach walks, the famous Seven Mile Beach is just steps away.

The condo office was very helpful in suggesting new activities and restaurants on the island. I would certainly suggest Treasure Island Condos for one of the best values in Cayman.

The condo was beautiful, with a great view of the ocean and pool. My son and I went snorkeling everyday. We were able to see an octopus and sea turtle. I'll never forget that.
My family and I are already planning for next year.

Treasure Island Condos have got to be the biggest bang for your buck that you can get on 7 Mile Beach! Beautifully land scaped grounds, a sparkling clean pool, and a sandy beach with a protected cove for swimming and snorkeling, all for a lot less than you would pay for similar accommodations at other condos.

We were a bit concerned after reading a few of the negative reviews--upon arrival we realized that our concerns were not warranted. The condo was beautifully furnished and immaculate. The kitchen was well equipped , leaving us no excuse not to cook. The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable.

Treasure Island is located within walking distance of a grocery store, several restaurants and great shopping. A car is not really necessary. In addition, the pool bar has great food, including what is probably the best cheese burger available on Grand Cayman. We also enjoyed the fresh catch.

All in all, we really enjoyed Treasure Island and are looking forward to staying again.

We stayed in the first week of January with our 2 children and grandparents in a 3 bedroom condo and had a fantastic time. We booked a sea view condo on the top floor and it was right on top of the water. We could see the cruise ships come in every morning. There was also good snorkelling right out in front of the condos, we saw lobsters, eels, all sorts of colourful fish and a turtle. We also walked down to snorkel at the Gamma wreck which was excellent. The on site Billy Bones restaurant and bar was great for takeaways back to the room and the Billy Bones staff were very friendly and our kids loved the swim up bar. There was a gas BBQ on the balcony and we used it quite a lot (note fish, chicken, beef and pork seemed reasonably priced at Kirks supermarket, lamb was very expensive). The pool was great as it had a kids pool and a very large main pool with some pool toys and loungers for the kids to use.

We did not have the experience of the previous 2 reviews, as the rooms were clean, with no signs of rats or mould, just the usual insects that you get in the Caribbean (fortunately there were insect screens on the doors). The rooms had aircon and ceiling fans as well. Some of the fittings in the condo were a bit dated, but the condo was furnished in a nice clean beach theme which made us feel like we were on a island holiday.

The beach was nice in front, plenty of sand for lounging, tanning and volleyball, but not the greatest for swimming (probably why it is good for snorkelling). I could walk out to waist deep and still have my feet in the sand, but further out were large boulders and reef under foot). A short walk to the Marriott along the beach was good for swimming in the sea. We also had wi-fi in our condo which was handy and allowed us to check out the cruise ships in port, Liberty of the Seas and some of the other largest ones were in port on some of the days.

Overall, we thought it was very good value for Grand Cayman and the beach front condo was the closest we have stayed to the beach on the Caymans. We have stayed at a few places on Seven Mile Beach including the Marriot and the Villas of the Galleon (the condos are set back from the beach). It was also close enough to walk to the supermarket if we did not have to carry too much back and it was about a 25 minute walk to Georgetown.

Some things to note:
The condos are managed differently to the Treasure Island Hotel, which we didn't realise until we were there, we had to get our keys from the condos office.
I would recommend going to Georgetown on days when the cruise ships were not in or after they have left. It seemed like everyone got back on the cruise ship around 2pm
Also, none of the supermarkets seemed to be open on Sundays and they have some restrictions on when they sell alcohol in the liquor stores (they stop around 7pm during the week). If we needed anything on a Sunday we had to go to the gas/petrol stations.
Diving and snorkelling equipment was not cheap to buy on the island and would recommend you take what you can. Eden Rock and Devils Grotto were great shore dives especially early in the morning, loads of Tarpon and schools of Silver fish in the caves.
Rum Point was also a great excursion.
