“Can't wait to come back!!!!”
Reviewed 28 March 2011

We came to Treasure Island over spring Break and I must say it was the best week ever. My husband and I came with my mother, his mother and my husbands mothers sister. We also brought our kids and grandkids and it was a perfect place for my family to come stay and feel welcomed and safe! We stayed in the ocean front condos #101 and 102. The kids could play in the sand, snorkel in the cove, or swim in the pool. We saw as many different fish in the coove as we could have anywhere else. The whole staff at Treasure Island was awesome, everyone right down to the cleaning staff went above and beyond what they needed to make our stay feel like we were home. The food at the bar so good and they all treated us like we just lived there. If you have a family and planning a trip Treasure Island is the place to go!!! Thank you Debbie for every thing.

Stayed oceanfront with our 4 person family. Lots of room in the 3 bedroom condo. Great deck looking right on to beach and water. Beautiful sunsets. Condos are great once you settle in and understand that the furnishings are subject to the tastes of each owner. Ours was reasonable and we were comfortable. It was unit 302 and it is in need of some TLC and updating. Many small things did not work like bathroom fans. Did not take away from the experience but there were annoyances. Beach is quite private as it takes a small trek over a rocky beachfront to connect to bottom of the seven mile beach stretch. I count this as a positive.

One thing to note is that the hotel attached is not the same owners. It is really run down
with lots of things hanging over the balconies like work clothes and other laundry. A little scary when you first pull up until you realize it is a seperate hotel although with the name Treasure Island.

Condos are seperate but the hotel does have access to pool and beach. When the cruise
ships are in port there are many cruise ship employees that decend on the pool side bar for sunning and free wifi. Not a major issue and provides some local flavor but you wonder why
you are paying 500/ night when they enjoy your property for free. Lots of other locals also use the beach and amenities as the complex had no way to control the issue.

Thank you for submitting your review of your stay. The Treasure Island Condominiums has just implemented a beach tag system so security can easily identify residents and guests as well as those who do not belong at the pool or beach. Thanks again for your comments and we look forward to your return to the property in the future!

Condo was great-full kitchen, living room, great balcony. Swimming pools were nice-swim up bar was great. Iguanas all around. Great snorkeling off the rock barrier. Only complaint is that Trasure Island beach is small and rocky. To get to Seven Mile Beach we had to walk on a 20 yard rocky section. Once you get past that it is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend the place-you'll love it!

We stayed in a 3 bedroom 3rd floor Ocean Front for 5 nights and the condo was furnished above average and very clean. We had a TV issue upon arriving and it was quickly fixed by office personnel. Although the beach in front of the condo isn't the "best" part of 7 mile beach the walk to the nicer more turquoise water is 250 feet further down the beach. We had no complaints about the condo. The swim up bar could use a face lift but the pool was clean. Just a warning....the Treasure Island Hotel is very different then the condo's...Condo's are nice/clean and much newer. There is a huge difference between the two. I loved the Cayman's and would love to make it back for a longer stay!

My husband, our 8 year old son, and I stayed at Treasure Island Condos in mid-February. We stayed in Unit 329 which was a three bedroom ocean front unit (as opposed to "ocean view") which was right on the water. It was much more space than we needed but we wanted to be right on the ocean. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews so I wanted to write this one to "comfort" others who might feel the same way. We loved our condo and had a wonderful vacation. The unit was large with a lovely kitchen, dining room table that sat six (and could have sat 8), couch and loveseat, master bedroom with king sized bed and large double sink vanity and separte shower/toilet, second bedroom wth two twins and bathroom with shower, and third bedroom with queen. All bedrooms had lovely celing fans and extra linens. The kitchen was well-equipped. The pool was beautiful and on most of the 9 days we were there, my son was the only one in the pool! The beach was spacious and uncrowded. No need to claim chairs or sit right on top of your fellow travelers. The contained reef was nice for our son to snorkel around in with no worries of current or waves. I snorkeled out on the other side of the reef and it was very nice. One of the nicest things about the location was that if you wanted more 'action", you simply walked about 100 yards around a little bend and you were right on top of the beginning of the Seven Mile Beach strip, all kinds of water sports rentals, etc. We walked over to the Marriott and snorkeled around there to see more/different fish. The beach is absolutely beautiful and I took daily walks all the way down to the public beach. It was fun to walk past all of the various hotels and condos. Amazing and beautiful.

The condo is also perfectly located for walking around. It was about 20 minutes in one direction to the downtown and 15 minutes in the other direction to Camana Bay (shops, restuaruants and movie theater). It was a quick walk (about 10 minutes) to a huge grocery store (Kirk's) were you could find everything you could possibly need. There were plenty of restaurant choices within a 10 minute walk. We didn't need a car at all. We rented one to drive to Rum Point on the other side of the island for the day, but otherwise, not necessary.

Don't miss going to Billy Bones. It's the restaurant/swim up bar on premises. They have amazing pina coladas and absolutely delicious fries!! The rest of the food was really good too.

We made our reservations through Cayman Condos (www.cicondos.com). They were great. They suggested Cayman Shoppers (www.caymanshoppers.com) and we were able to place our order for groceries ahead of time. When we walked in, Eddie from Cayman Shoppers had all of our stuff in the refrig and put away. It was great! Debbie in the on-site condo management office was very helpful and gave us a tote bag, map, and guidebooks on arrival. She was also helpful in getting me hooked up on the wi-fi that was included with the condo.

In the interest of full disclosure, here are the "negatives" (although I don't think they even rise to that level). This isn't the Ritz Carlton so don't expect that. If you want your bed made daily, turn down service, mints on the pillow, a spa and gift shop, this isn't the place for you. We were fine with the housekeeping and having a washer and dryer in the unit was terrific. If you want to be able to "live" on the beach for a week, I can't imagine it gets much better than this. Like any house or cottage type property, we saw a few tiny ants one day on the counter but I wiped them off and that was that. No big deal. We did have to find a housekeeper once when we were about to run out of toilet paper but she apologized and gave us six rolls (the tp shortage is why I gave the service 4 stars instead of 5). As other reviewers said, the Treasure Island hotel is owned by a different company and it's clear that the hotel is not anywhere near as nice as the condos. It looks like the rooms are a tad dumpy but I didn't go in any. The hotel has two pools that are separate from the condos. I really didn't see many people using them. By the time we left, one was closed for cleaning. All that said, the hotel is in the "front" (aka on the road, not the beach) of the property and the only time you dealt with it was when you went through the lobby (nice outdoor lobby) to leave. Really, that's all I would say by way of negatives. Not much.

All in all, we had a great stay and were very pleased with the accomodations. So, despite what others might have said, have confidence! You will be happy you stayed here and have a wonderful vacation. We've already recommended the condo to two sets of friends.

We have stayed at Treasure Island condos many times, and the improved snorkeling and swimming cove recently completed has kept the beach sandy. Ground floor, oceanfront is the only way I'll go to the Caribbean! The on site dive shop is fantastic, as well. We've used them for years.

My three young kids (7, 5, 2), wife and I had a wonderful stay at Treasure Island.
Both the pool view and ocean view condos were ideal and while I first worried about being on the ground floor, it turned out by mid-week I was much happier that the kids could run in and out without having to go out of sight to get upstairs.

Debbie, who manages the property, is a rock star. On the first night there, after returning from dinner with three very tired kids the key to our condo broke in the lock. She was out and about but literally showed up with another key in under 7 minutes. (Keep her cell number handy!!)

We did encounter a lot of tiny ants in our kitchen and dining area - not sure if this is a fact of life in the Caribbean or if it's a fact of life having kids who drop food on the floor, etc. It got a little annoying towards the end of our stay but we never complained so a solution might have been available - we didn't push.

All and all, I would absolutely return to Treasure Island. The location was great, rooms were nice and the surrounding area is favorable for a 5 to 25 min walk for good food, groceries or booze.

Coconut Joe’s was great for both dinner and breakfast and I would absolutely try ICOA Fine Foods – salmon bagel and egg benedict were unbelievable. Also try the Sunshine Grill which was outstanding for lunch by the pool there.

We also did Blue at the Ritz – no, didn’t bring the kids. Wife and I did both of the tasting menus and wine pairings. It is a budget buster in every sense but if you’re going to splurge while in Cayman, splurge here…

Dulce de Vita was also great – perfect for a sunset dinner and the ice cream shop on the first floor offered a nice, local business feel.

Learn to take the public buses vs. taxis if you want to save money – the bus acts just like a taxi besides picking up other passengers.

Will write individual reviews on the Turtle Farm (pass) and Dolphin Cove (worth the cost/effort).

Enjoy Cayman!!!! (You will REALLY miss it when you’re back home)
