“Another Awesome Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This was our 4th trip to the resort in 1 1/2 years. Need I say more. Once again, the diving, people, food, hospitality, resort layout and overall accommodations proved excellent. I've been diving many years and to many places, but I'm stuck here for now. For me, it all starts with the people. Everyone is very friendly and very professional. I've witnessed the staff four times now treat all guests with much courtesy, and they're always looking to get you whatever you want. It's all on a first name basis from arrival. The food was fantastic, chef Errol served up so many different entrees during the week I was there that I don't think there was one repeat. That's close to 50 different recipes--not to mention the dessert table--unbelievable every day. It's one of the most relaxing places I know I'll ever find. Did I mention the diving--excellent, thank you Warren, Will, Dottie and Heather. Thank you to GM Kimberly and all dining, food and bar staff. I love outdoor bars, and Teresa, Grace and Jose make that place special. Thank you to all of you! I'll be back. Jeff and Matt. Franklin, WI.

Spent a week at LCBR in April. Accommodations are very nice, food is excellent, dive operation is very safe and professional, staff at resort and dive op are all very pleasant and helpful, and the diving is the best. Would we go back? We're already booked for January.

We just returned from our wedding on top of the dock at LCBR and weren't disappointed. This is our 4th visit here and we had a fabulaous time as always! The diving was again exceptional with Sharon and Ben as our divemasters. They made it fun, educational and most of all relaxing! The resort went above and beyond in helping with the wedding plans as well as making us feel special all week. Our ocean front room was clean and comfortable. The food was good, although a little more mainstream since they have a new chef since we have been there. Desserts were average, but there was so much food, we seldom had room for it anyway. Bar staff Teresa, Grace and Jose made the Tiki bar fun!

Room Tip: The ocean front rooms 115,215, 116 and 216 have private decks and are quiet.

The staff at Little Cayman Beach Resort is simply awesome. They learn everyone's name and always greet you a smile. LCBR is perfect for divers. Right on the water with a very short walk to the top-notch Reef Divers dive operation. Rooms are spacious and clean, the pool and bar are centrally located and the food is superb. Everything is better than I expected and I plan to stay here again on my next visit to Little Cayman. I didn't have a room on the water and that was perfectly fine for me. There are beach chairs and hammocks readily available for the awesome water views and time in my room was mostly spent sleeping. I purchased the breakfast and dinner meal plan. Next time I'll include lunch since there really wasn't a lot of time between the 2nd and 3rd dive to head out from the resort in search of other food options. And, the food at LCBR is plentiful and very, very good. The atmosphere at the bar is relaxed and friendly and the bartenders are super. Enjoy your time there - don't pack too much. It's a relaxed, fun and totally wonderful.

Little Cayman Beach resort caters to SCUBA divers. It is the largest of the four diving resorts on Little Cayman. The resort has four spacious dive boats that take you to the best spots to dive around Little Cayman. The divemasters are excellent, giving the best pre-dive briefings I have ever heard. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to decide if I would dive independently with my dive buddy or hang with the dive masters. As an underwater photographer, it gave me the option of sticking a bit longer to take some pictures and not slowing down a group. When we did opt to dive with the group the divemasters were great at finding and pointing out the high points of this water. For divers the vertical walls are fantastic.
The resort itself was also tremendous. The meals are served buffet style. A wide selection each day allowed everyone to choose the food that fit their tastes and lifestyles. We had some vegetarians in our group and also meat and potatoes types; everyone always raved about their meals. The staff treats you like family, noting that when you are happy, they are happy too.

Nice resort. Spacious rooms. We had Ocean view room. AC, large safe, refrigerator, lots of shelf space, iron, lots of hot water shower/tub combo. They have generous supply of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion & body wash). Semi-private balcony. They don't want you to hang stuff on the balcony, but have plenty of drying racks behind the building. Most of the people here are divers. Good rental equipment. Good tank fills - always 3000+ for us. Boat rides are 20-30 minutes to dive sites. Overall water clarity in 50-70 foot range. Average sealife; turtles on most dive. They will do the Keith Tibbetts shipwreck on Little Cayman - if you can get enough people to go (was an extra $30 pp - estimate can't remember exact amount) - unfortunately since resort was full we needed to fill an entire boat (20 people) and came up 3 short - if you are interested talk it up early with other divers. Boats spacious include marine head. Good crew. They pretty much do everything for you. No camera rinse tank on board - they do have special ones in front of the shop away from the equipment dunk tanks. Chips & fruit included for snacks. They issue you one dry towel per day on the dive boat. 2 tank AM dive + 1 tank PM dive. You can dive with buddy or follow the dive master. Unlocked equipment room near dock with lots of hangers. Mosquitos - I averaged 1 bite a night (but mosquitos do have a tendency to like me and at that low level I didn't bother with repellant). Food decent - served buffet style. Lots of choices. Free WiFi also free computer in lobby. Small gym. Fairly loud music from bar until about 10 PM. They shuttle you from airport. Really not a lot to do on island except dive and relax.

We found this resort via a friend's suggestion. We booked it thru a travel agency that we have used before, and got a great deal. We were picked up by the free shuttle at the airport and were driven straight to the resort around mid-afternoon. Check in was smooth even with the 10 other people checking in, and we dealt with all the paperwork in one fell swoop. We then were given our keys and went to our rooms where our luggage had been set.

The room was large and had two chairs and a table for writing and using the free wi-fi, a large clothing cabinet with a free safe and 8 hangers, a 6 drawer dresser, night stand with alarm clock, and two queen size beds. Both beds were firm and fairly new. We slept great, as they were firm but not hard. The A/C unit was far enough from the sleeping area to allow us to keep it on low cool and not have cold air blown directly on us, the small fridge was useful, and the bathroom was spacious. Shower water pressure was good, tho the temp was hot almost right off the bat. The toilet seat needed replacement as it was loose, otherwise no maintenance issues. Enough counter space for both of our toiletries, and the complimentary toiletries were helpful, esp as they gave us two of everything. The daily maid service was mop floor, make bed, empty trash. We didn't want our bed made, so they didn't, but the mopping left our floor wet and slippery and could be a fall hazard.

The diving set up was good. There was enough space for 18 divers, but after the first day, we usually ended up with only 12. The two crew members alternated guiding anyone that wanted to be shown the site, and they were the boat captains as well. We had Reggie and Dottie, both had a wicked humor, usually bawdy, and kept us entertained. They waited a decent interval to make sure that no one would be offended by the humor, before exchanging jokes.

The routine was to take your camera, fins and mask to the back, sit down and they would bring your gear and help you don it, then help you stand up to do a stride into the water. After the dive, they helped you up the ladder, you sat down, and they took your gear from you and brought it back to the middle of the boat to exchange tanks. I needed more help, and they brought my gear to the rear, where I then donned it sitting and then just rolled in, and then doffed my gear in the water and they took it back to the seat without my having to get out of the water with the gear on. they were both really helpful, and no complaints or grumpiness, one of the best attitudes we have seen diving.

The sites were good, and usually small, so that you could concentrate on finding interesting creatures and not on swimming long distances. Viz was usually about 50-70 feet, tho some days and sites weren't as good. There were interesting creatures to see, tho not as many as I have seen in other places. However, one of our dives was just full of anything a diver could want, small or large. Everyone was happy with the diving on our boat, not complaining about anything.

Diving was on the boat at 8AM for a two tank dive after breakfast, and then back for lunch and then out again around 2 for a one tank dive. The first dive was 110 feet for 50 minutes and the others were 60 for 60, which is a bit more regulated than other places we've been but not really an issue. Meal times are the restricting variables. Breakfast doesn't start until 7, so there was a feeling of pressure to get in early so as to not have to shove down the food and still have enuff time to get ready for the dive and digest. The lunch was 12:30 to 1;30, so that dictated the morning dive timing. Too long, and you were back too late to get lunch at a comfortable pace. Normally we were back after lunch started, and that was following the dive time rules. The dive sites aren't that far away, which made it pleasant as well.

The meal times could have been better. If they started breakfast at 6:30 allowing divers to eat with more time before going on the AM dives, then put lunch from 12:30 to 2, with the dive pushed back to 2:30, which would still be enuff time to get back to relax and shower b4 dinner.

There were always veggies, mostly cooked in butter, a chicken, meat and pasta dish, and later in the week a fish entree. The meal plan we chose was B,L, and D which was convenient. Buffet style, with as many visits to the buffet as you wanted. Plenty of water, punch, coffee, tea, and hot choc all day. The desserts were all freshly made, but if you don't like cake and pies, you won't be eating dessert most days. There were choc chip and granola raisin cookies 3 times, but otherwise it was rich pies and cakes. The meals seem to cycle so that if you stay longer than one week, you will see repeats. Luckily there was a plain option of make your own salad or sandwich for lunch, thereby avoiding the rich entrees that don't mix well with diving, and breakfast always had plenty of fruit choices, cereals, juices, milk, yoghurt, and toast options. The food was tasty, tho I am used to more plain fare at home, so tried to avoid some of the more richly prepared entrees.

Servers were always happy to get or refill drinks, and friendly. However, they need to give a little more time to diners before taking their plates away. Everyone I spoke to felt like they needed to defend their plate, lest it be taken from them. I'm sure they were told to clear old plates to allow the diners space on the table, but you literally put down your silverware and a server would whisk away your plate, sometimes asking it was ok, sometimes not.
