“Feels like home”
Reviewed 11 January 2013

We spent 5 nights at Carib Sands. Our one bedroom unit was very spacious with brand new appliances and even a washer and dryer (we were in the newer building). We were on the ground floor with direct beach access, steps away from the pool. The staff were great. One of our rented bikes had mechanical problems and they got it fixed even though they had to stay late.

The only think I could have wished for was a screen on the sliding door out to beach.

Let me start with the obvious - Carib Sands is a beautiful property located right on a private beach on the south side of the island, which is the calmer side most of the time. The ocean is a beautiful turquoise and different shades of blue. Iguanas are plenty and you will definitely spot a few either walking to the pool or by the palm trees on the beach. This is truly paradise.

The rooms are well stocked and face out to the ocean. We had modern furniture stocked with all kinds of modern appliances and utensils. Everything was functional and we were very happy buying groceries from the market and cooking breakfast ourselves.

Location - this place is close to the airport (5 mins), close to supermarket (5 mins), close to liquor store (5 mins), close to other hotel bars and our personal fav bar - Coral Isle (5 mins), close to most of the caves on the island. Highly recommend renting a car.

Customer Service - Reggie helped me tremendously through the early part of the booking process with immediate call/email replies to my questions. Kathy, the property manager, took ownership from thereon and she was simply amazing. I think I had a 100 different questions, and she was quick in responding to them and extremely polite. She also helped me plan a surprise anniversary dinner for my wife which we will remember for many many years to come! I'll leave the details out, but in short - she arranged for a sunset dinner on the patio of a private apartment close to the beach, arranged for flowers, setup a guided footpath with lighted candles on the beach and she herself along with her colleague Sue personally attended to us with wine and food from the next door Captain's Table! In fact for dinner, she worked with the Chef at Captain's table to present me with 7 or 8 different menu options for this private dinner on the beach. Kathy and Sue - thank you for everything! You guys truly created some beautiful memories for us.

I also should mention that there is no room service as this is not a true hotel - more like an apartment rental - but excellent food options are literally in walking distance; very safe environment. Even though the hotel was packed, we didnt see more than 2 people at any given point of time as people are generally gone for diving. You will feel that you own the place. It is the single best part I liked about the Brac - it is so remote and wonderful and relaxing.

We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Get room facing ocean; Work with Kathy if you want to make any arrangements or if you want to setup...

My husband and I stayed at Carib Sands for a week. The hotel had everything we needed: full kitchen, right on beach, and centrally located. We had a dive package with Brac Scuba Shack, whose boat is docked right in front of the hotel. We were very pleased with Brac Scuba Shack, They cater to smaller groups and provide great service. The diving was incredible.

This resort is just the place to stay if you want to relax on your patio, pool or on a beach chair with minimal people around. We stayed here as a second choice and actually glad our first choice did not work out. We scheduled 5 days of diving and this place is conveniently located to both dive shops on the island. We were able to schedule a massage on the dock that provided amazing sound of the waves crashing on the shore just beyond the dock. Schedule a massage with Elaine through The Beach Spa. She comes to you and can set up in the room or on the resort's double deck dock. The room was well stocked with everything we needed to cook our own meals. The grocery store had everything we needed, but with any island the prices are a little high. We stayed in the newest building that had a full wall of windows out to the sea which was about 50 feet to the shore. We opened the door with view of just a single palm tree and heard the waves crashing while we cooked dinner or napped on our Patio. The beach and property was well manicured each day to remove any trash that would wash up on shore. The furniture was modern and island style. The beach combing was great and found many treasures just outside our door at the waters edge. Snorkeling in the lagoon provided viewings of huge tarpon, sting rays, variety of fish, turtles and occasionally a reef shark. Safe to snorkel day or night. Go to the Captains table next door for good food and conversation with the locals. The pool was okay...we did not use. It's gated for safety if you have kids. A bit too much chlorine.

The taxi is expensive, so if you plan on seeing the island, rent a car directly from airport. The rental agency is just down the street from the resort if you decide to rent one mid stay. The resort office can also assist you in arranging a car.

The only negative thing we could think of was the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and pillows were flat, but would not deter us from staying there in a future visit.

Loved our stay and will book another stay here on our next visit!!!

We appreciate your review of Carib Sands Beach Resort. We strive to meet all of our guests desires. Now we can offer even more for the relaxing stay with us. The Beach Spa is a mobile spa service we now offer to our guests. Relax on the second floor of the dock with an hour massage or choose one of the many spa treatments in your own condo. No need to go to Elaine she will come to you. "Laid Back on the Brac" just got better!!

I stayed here 2 days ago. I live in Grand Cayman and after a very stressful week I decided to get away and explore Cayman Brac.
I booked last minute and get a very good rate.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the airport. The unit was very clean, modern and has a nice patio. We were given a room in the 1st floor and it was perfect just to walk out straight to the beach.
The beach is not as nice as others (rocks and weed) but the pool is huge and located seaside.
I sat in my patio to read a book and it was just serenity and peace… just what I needed it.
The island is fun to explore and it’s funny how busy Grand Cayman looks compare to this island.
I will definitely be coming back to the Brac and to this hotel!

Room Tip: Low floors have direct access to the beach.

Great place for peace and quiet ! Perfect place for snorkeling and diving . Clear blue sea in a tranquil setting :) apartment was very well equipped and very homely. Lovely sitting on the balcony looking out to sea . Close to the airport and short walk from another hotel, bars and local shops . We hired a car and went for a explore around the island, more snorkeling spots, caves and the rugged coast line . The perfect getaway holiday :)

Room Tip: If you don't mind a few stairs have a first floor room :) better view from balcony being higher...
