“Romantic Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

This was the first vacation my boyfriend and I went on together. The airport pick-up and drop-off was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We spent most of our time by the adult pool, you can't beat the scenery. The pool staff was exceptional. We tried all the restaurants in the establishment, Cabana was our favorite. The scent of lemongrass was everywhere, which I loved. I ended up buying a lemongrass candle as a souvenir. On our last full day, we took an ATV tour around the island, definitely worth it! We spent most of the time on the resort, you can pretty much do everything within the Four Seasons property, but I would highly recommend exploring the island. We also did a catamaran tour the concierge suggested. It was a lot of fun, the boat took us out to snorkel.

Can't wait to go back one day!

Room Tip: we wanted a room on the first floor so we can just walk out onto the beach but was "upgraded&qu...

We were there for 8 days. The quality just wasn't there. The setting and grounds are first class but the hotel stumbles badly in the dining room. Steaks and seafood were overcooked while burgers were undercooked. Breakfast was abysmal. The food was generally cold and overpriced. We visited 4-5 restaurants offsite and all offered better food, service and prices. I'm trying to figure out if it was just this property or if it is Four Seasons in general that is headed downhill. It really was a disappointment. All in it was about $1000-$1200 a day and it wasn't worth half that.

Thank you for visiting Four Seasons Resort Nevis and for your honest feedback on the Resort's food and beverage experience. We are so glad you enjoyed the setting and grounds, but disappointed to hear that your dining experience did not meet expectations. Quality control is always a priority for any Four Seasons and if you have a moment of your time, our General Manager, Sven Wiedenhaupt, would like to call you to apologize and follow up on any more specifics that can better guide us to directly address and improve upon these food quality and service issues. Please contact Sven at sven.wiedenhaupt@fourseasons.com and he would be happy to call you at your convenience to understand more. We appreciate you sharing your impressions with us and we take your comments seriously.

Many reviewers have commented on the hotel property and I have no disagreement with their overall 5 point excellent rating. My goal is to provide feedback on using this property for a group meeting. Last week our company hosted a large group of international employees of which I was one. I have attended many such events around the world and the Four Season staff is to be commended on how well they provide for group travelers. Their team of well trained – experienced professionals deliver a flawless performance across the many complexities of handling a group. To their credit this includes their management of off-property vendors such as taxis, restaurants and water based vendors. The degree to which the Four Season staff is able to interact with these groups is remarkable and you would never know they are not part of the hotel.

Four Season Nevis is an outstanding property for a single couple traveling or a large group. Their staff make a difference: Four Seasons Nevis employs multiple generations of Nevisian families who are proud to work for the company. For those that have struggled with poor service in Caribbean hotels, I can tell you that none of that will be found at the Four Seasons. This group could work anywhere in the world and teach others how to provide excellence on a daily basis.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms on the ground floor are great. You may even catch a monkey or two walking by in...

I stayed here for 1 night while researching FS Nevis for a destination wedding venue. In a short period of time it was clear to see the staff tended to every little detail here in an effort to make everyone's stay here most enjoyable! I for one really liked the ferry ride and I was traveling alone. I quickly made friends and enjoyed the rum punch and great views from the ferry. The ride is 45 minutes long but goes by quickly.

The property is amazing and the spa looked really nice. I wish I was there longer!!

I have been wanting to visit this property for many years having travelled extensively around the Caribean, and this year it happened. A week away with me and husband, away from it all. It's a gorgeous place. Typically exotic and affluently made but with that Caribbean gentle relaxedness that is so appealing. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable, with (for once!) plenty of storage, a bugbear of ours normally. Bathroom was similarly well-appointed - shower and fixtures (two sinks plus a separate toilet and its own sink) all working easily, extremely clean, PLENTY of towels (ahhh!), plenty of soaps etc and a pleasure to use. The staff at this resort cannot do enough for you, and their soft smiling charm was so lovely. Food quality was very good, although at the three restaurants they have, the menus were a) small and b) unvarying. Apparently there should have been daily specials on, but we heard about one, once. Pool areas were comfortable with again great service, sun lotion if you needed any, and delightful staff. We went on the beach once, and were covered in bites several hours afterwards. We didn't go to the beach again, and guess what - no more bites. It wasn't the end of the world as we're fairly happy by a pool, but for sand lovers it could be an issue. The golf course is insanely beautiful. And well managed. Expensive but frankly Nevis isn't cheap and if you can afford the trip to this hotel you probably won't worry about the cost of golf. We walked the grounds every day and it was just gorgeous.
And for the negatives...well. It's very simple. When we got there, we soon discovered that there was only one beach bar for early evening/sunset drinks - and the management in its wisdom closed it at 5.45pm unless the restaurant it was attached to was also open. But it wasn't open every night. We asked the management why they would make such an odd decision and they said it was for 'operational reasons'. We suggested they might keep it open for 'customer reasons' - for why would we travel all the way to Nevis to sit indoors and have a drink or to sit on a bland terrace away from the ocean? And it played terrible Italian elevator music - when we would have thought that a little reggae might be more in keeping. Apparently the GM likes it like that.

Eventually we did get to speak to the GM. When he met with us he immediately told us he'd googled us and our business, and then proceeded to interrogate us about how much we earned and how profitable we were. Profitable enough to afford to stay at your place, mate. Will that do??

The other biggest problem with this resort is their love of corporate groups. We called them the Special People. For while the resort was lovely, there was clearly an awful lot more being done for the corporate groups than for the FITs (Financially Independent Travellers) as the hotel staff called us (to our faces). We realise that sometimes groups have special dinners or drinks and so on, and that this happens worldwide. What we don't normally see are large key sections of a resort being closed off without warning or even the courtesy of a room notice sent round, with lavish buffets etc being laid on for these groups, right under the noses of the FITs, who were on some occasions during our stay summarily and rudely turned away from when they casually asked what the event was for and whether it was open to all. It gave a distinct impression of a two-tier service, and unless your employer sent you there on a jolly, you wouldn't be receiving top-notch service. Fairly myopic behaviour unless you want to alienate all your independent visitors.

We spent two weeks in April at the Four Seasons. We are international travelers who spend a lot of time at resorts. This is by far our greatest vacation to date. The staff is outstanding! They go above and beyond to cater to your every need. Phaedra in guest relations took care of us from the moment we stepped on the island. Lydia at the Coral Grill is the best server in the Carribean. I highly recommend you do a sail on the Caona with Fitz and Lennox. The golf course was in great condition and provided us with a challenge and an awesome view. Dale must be your taxi driver and will
be at your beckon call. The perfect place to relax. Sven you are doing an amazing job.

This resort provided a great vacation experience from arrival to departure. They pick you up at the airport and drive you to a private ferry with drinks and amazing views. The trip is about 40 minutes and when you're arriving at Nevis the view is beautiful! They meet you on the pier and whisk you away to your room for immediate relaxation - avoiding the front desk delays.
The beach was nice..the water was very clear and you can see the bottom; they also have several water sports you can partake in. I've seen some reviews that are negative on the beach but my husband and I loved it and we've been to several areas in the Caribbean. There are 3 pools - 1 for adults only that was very quiet and relaxing.
The gym had very nice equipment and a steady supply of water, sports drink, flavored water of the day and chilled towels. Perfect after a hard workout!
Food was delicious; a little on the expensive side but very worth it. You're on an island and it's the Four Seasons - so it's to be expected.
It always seemed as if the resort was more empty than it actually was. There would be times we were walking back from dinner and wouldn't pass a single person. There were always more than enough pool and beach chairs. And no issues getting dinner reservations at the restaurants on-site.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to go back...I highly recommend this resort for a family (small or older children) or couple.
