Owner description: Dark View Falls are two spectacular waterfalls, one above the other, cascading down high cliff faces and plunging into natural pools. The waterfalls flow all year from a tributary of the Richmond River. A natural Bamboo bridge spans the tumbling river, luring you to the two majestic falls. Facilities at the site includes restrooms, gazebo, viewing platform and changing rooms.

If you arrive in Cumberland Bay by boat, ask at Joseph 'Loghy' to organise the balade to the falls. You have to take a taxi, normaly a van for 10 pax, and drive north the long of the coast for about 30 minutes. After you have to walk for 5 minutes for see the first fall but the best is the second. You arrive with a 10 minutes walk, just the last part of the trail you have to walk in the bed of the river. Just make attention but Rasta Josef have all the time a hand for help you. You can take a natural shawer, cool water!

Dark view falls is a very popular tourist destination in St Vincent, for good reason. It is easily accessible by road, although it is way up the leeward highway just outside of Fitz Hughes. Although a little rugged, it is easily traversed by almost every tourist. There are two falls. in the upper one you can swim in the pool. Bring your bathing suit. There are stairs up to the higher falls, and you will want to swim there. I go there every year. It's really quite a beautiful place. A lot of tourists go there. I was watching the European yatch tourists struggling with their footing this year, feeling that I was much more like a local, with far superior abilities, and then slipped on a river rock, and fell to ground, my pride hurt more than anything else. Some rocks are very slippery, but I've never seen anyone slip and fall like I did. It's a beautiful place that is well worth the visit. It is much easier to access if you stay at Richmond Vale Academy, in which case it's a 20 minute walk. I highly recommend Richmond Vale Academy. From there there is so much wilderness to explore, and you need to be there if you are hiking up the volcano. That is a very long hike, difficult to do if you are starting from Kingstown.

I loved the bamboo bridge! Once over the bridge, it's a short walk to the lower falls. There is a small pool you can go in beneath the falls but the water is cold. Getting to the upper falls involves steep steps and crossing the stream on wet, slippery rocks. Flip flops are not a good choice of foot wear!

Such a lovely and non commercialized place to visit. Highly recommended if traveling in SVG. Short walk to the first set of falls. There is another pathway to more falls, some stairs some walking on rocks. Bring water shoes. There is a little snack shack that had the best salt fish ever. We also had BBQ chicken which was very good also. You can bring your own snacks (bring drinks), but do try the food. Bathrooms and change rooms are also on site.

Forgot to post some of the pics from Dark View. It was certainly a nice hike and not too long. The rocks seem a lil intimidating but its really not that bad. Definitely you want to want to wear proper shoes. And if your native you can choose to go barefoot. The water was certainly crisp but refreshing You get used to the coldness after a while. A lil hennessy helps..lol.. Certainly missing that experience!
