“Great place, even greater staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

Buccament Bay is a fabulous resort once you get there, and it's really the staff that make it happen. We were lucky enough to stay in a Beach front villa where you had a plunge pool and then the beach right outside.

There are enough places to eat at, with plenty of variety, including a great coffee shop with a selection of tasty pastries/desserts/Ice creams.

For the kids and adults there are lots of activities to join in as and when you feel like, you will not get bored at all.

Sometimes it was difficult to get a sun lounger near the pool and towels could go pretty fast, and breakfast could do with perhaps being in another location closer to the rest of the amenities, but these are only minor things, and once these are ironed out then, this resort will be unrivalled.

Fathmath in reception was great in making sure we were happy and being looked after, she made sure that our stay was exceptional. She organised a day trip for us that was really good, and that was the only time we left the resort as there is so much to stay there for.

Look forward to going back someday soon!

Room Tip: Beach front rooms are the best, but there are not many!

Just returned from an amazing holiday from St Vincent. Buccament Bay was an awesome experience and what made our holiday was Francissa and all the staff at Buccament bay. The food was not great, but the service and friendliness was top class.

We spent a long weekend here and the whole experience was great. The resort is aesthetically appealing enough. There is a second phase of construction that has stopped, which can be seen from points. This was not a major concern for us.
The natural beauty surrounding this resort is amazing.
All the staff were very friendly, helpful and generally attentive.
The food and beverage options were decent. For me the cherry on top was the sushi option a lunchtimes.

Room Tip: The best suites are situated right on the beach and come with a price tag as per normal. Most of the...

We have recently come back from 2 weeks holiday at Buccament Bay with our 3 kids (11,15&18). We had an amazing time, it was so relaxing. The food and service fantastic most of the time. HQ was an amazing concept and great for the kids to get a snack, ice cream or smoothie whenever they wanted. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble so I've just picked a few that stood out.

Ivy, our maid, who greeted us everyday with a smile and left amazing towel animals on our beds!

Vidol and Datney who made sure our towels where on our subbeds and brought us drinks whenever we needed them and Brenton at the bar ready to mix a good cocktail or two.

Ashanti and Oneka at Bamboo and Bay, Corilina in Jacks, who always looked happy to see us and made us feel welcome.

Charlotte, Shon and Kelvin always on hand to start a game of water polo. Worked wonders in the sports departments organising staff v guest football matches and various tennis and boot camp sessions. Not forgetting the Salsa evenings. All of which helped the guests to bond.

Phil who gave our daughter the confidence after a few singing lessons to get up and sing in front of the guests in The Bay, her favourite song - "Do you want to build a snowman" from Frozen. (Even if she is 15!). The kids all looked forward to his singing sessions in the morning, where he greeted them with a smile. They came out full of confidence.

Finally, Sharon and Jenine, who helped our Vow Renewal go so smoothly. It was a perfect day, one we will never forget.

But sadly, not everything was perfect in paradise........we did have a few issues.

We booked a 4 bed villa, and ended up with 2 two bed villas interconnecting, (shouldn't complain as the space was huge!), but when we asked to move we were told that there wasn't any available unless we paid extra for the beach front ones!! Next time we will pay the extra to get the wow factor.

The water sports was non existent, due to a dispute with the contractor. Such a shame as our kids were looking forward to these. I believe this has now been resolved.

After all said, the location of Buccament Bay was stunning and idilic, and the everyday staff were a pleasure to meet. We will be going back.

Room Tip: You need to upgrade to an AC villa with a plunge pool!

I'm airline staff and have been 'hotelling' for the last 35 years. I've just returned from 12 days at Buccament Bay, and it was really wonderful, one of the best resorts I've been to in the Caribbean. The most impressive thing about this resort are the fantastic staff, they couldn't be more friendly and helpful. It really made our holiday.

Our villa was fantastic - two bedroomed with a plunge pool on the deck. Our room housekeepers worked tirelessly to make us comfortable. We ate in all the restaurants, they were all of a very high standard, but Jacks and the Indian restaurant 'Safron' were our favourites. We loved the Coffee shop, especially the ice cream sundaes ! Thanks to Ashantie for always looking after us and making us smile.

We loved sitting on the beach, they have lovely sun loungers which are made up for you with towelling covers. Big thanks to Lionel and the beach boys who took such good care of us come rain or shine.

All the staff from reception to our pool boy, were fantastic - you made our holiday. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort and would go back in a heartbeat.

Love to you all, Susanne , Richard and Gareth Forward. xxxx

Just to clarify things, I've no incentive or connection to Buccament Bay in any way. So this is based on my experiences of over 40x years of travel around the world.
Buccament Bay is not perfect...(where is?)...but comes very close. I've just had dinner with my wife and young son in "Jack's" restaurant and I could have been in any sophisticated big city restaurant anywhere in the world.
To explain, consider the interior design was excellent, with 'big' lighting and space to move. Decor throughout the resort is also very high, but Jacks really confirms the quality because unlike most high end destinations in the Carribean, the designers plans for this place have actually been executed to a very high standard. The little details add up, and the end result is an intangible quality worth paying for.

But, I don't just mean it looks great, the quality extends to the staff. Anyone who has travelled knows what I mean when I say the result seems effortless. This is actually very hard to achieve because everyone has to work as a team, pushing together in the same direction at the same time. To achieve the quality feel I've experienced so far at Buccament Bay requires a super slick crew in all areas. The details count. Those marginal improvements mean the customer feels the difference. One of my favourite hotels (The Farmhouse, Guernsey, Channel Isles) has no more than 8x rooms (I think) and the level of personal service means you feel part of the family. This is the first time, I've ever stayed at any large resort/ establishment where I've had the same feeling, and this mostly due to all the excellent staff who work hard and are clearly well trained. Every one could easily fit in a top hotel / restaurant in London, New York, or Paris. They should be congratulated and proud of the work they do. They are slick, sophisticated and work well as a team.

So, a glowing report so far.
Well, there are some simple improvements that would help.
Our Garden Villa is very well equipped, especially the large number of crisp towels kept well topped up in the bathroom. It's just a shame there is only 1x simple towel rail ( big enough for just 1x towel) to hang them all on. Thus, any number of damp towels hanging on whatever space we can find.
The water sports are slightly meagre. Windjammer Landing is only a few miles away on St. Lucia, but boasts much better provision in this regard. I acknowledge St. Vincent is smaller and has less facilities, but to operate at this level means you have to invest is all areas. Simple roto moulded sail boats cannot compete with mixed motor sports and high quality Hobie Cat sail craft. So a clear could do better on this point.

Finally, (on part 1at least) I must put to bed this question of the winter storm damage.

Forget it. This is a non issue, unless you are looking for a reason not to come. A limited part of the site is well shielded behind high quality boarding that actually looks part of the overall design of the site. All the public areas are extremely well finished and functioning without any problem. The level of detailed finishing is top end, and at the time of writing, I cannot think of a better place to come, relax, and shake off the troubles of the world.

Part 2 will follow shortly.
