“It was the verandah that we most didn't want to leave!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

St Vincent is a friendly and interesting island, well worth the extra effort to get there and White Sands Villas is an excellent bolt hole. Our little cottage looked out over the inlet with the boats at anchor from the most wonderful verandah, which we basically lived on. Hiring a car is a good idea, but, as we wanted a relaxing holiday, we decided to use the dollar vans instead, a few minutes walk along the beach and up the hill. All of 2 $EC to get into town. Kingston is a scruffy friendly town with plenty to buy in the market. We made the decision to eat out at lunchtime and in at night, just to enjoy the verandah and the sounds of a Caribbean night, some nights also with fire flies. The Botanical Gardens are definitely worth visiting, but do go when there isn't a cruise ship in. We took a trip up the Windward side of the island with Sophie and Guy, a lovely, interesting day out, we especially enjoyed Guy's family's flower farm. It was also sad to see all the damage caused by the Christmas Eve flooding; as one Vincey we met from the north said, 'we had Christmas last year, but not a Happy one'. Sophie was always at the end of the phone (which she supplied) and made us feel at home. She suggested that we spend some time on Bequia aw well, which was a good idea as it was interesting to compare the island. We really do hope to return.

We did not stay at White Sands, but the managers, Guy & Sophie, gave us a tour of the windward side of St. Vincent. We were staying on Bequia, and took the ferry to St. Vincent for the day. Sophie met us at the ferry, showed us some of Kingstown, and then took us to the botanic gardens. We particularly enjoyed seeing the parrots there. Then we saw Fort Charlotte, which has a great view of the area.

Then, we went to White Sands, where Guy joined us for the drive up the windward side of the island. One of the places we stopped was where Guy’s family grows flowers for export. We went as far north as we could go on the windward side. Then, we turned around and came back, and had lunch at Ferdie’s Restaurant in Georgetown. On the drive back to Kingstown, we took more of an inland route, so we got a different view from our drive up.

Guy and Sophie spent the day with us, and dropped us off at the ferry for our trip back to Bequia.

In all, we thought it was a day well spent, and we saw a pretty good cross section of St. Vincent. Guy and Sophie went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves, and saw as much of the island as possible. We certainly recommend their tour to anyone who wants to see St. Vincent.

White Sands Villas was a great relaxing place to stay. Sophie was fantastic at making us feel at home, and the extra services she offers were very welcome - she was able to stock our fridge with some items prior to arriving, airport pick-up/drop-off, calling the local taxi service (Iston aka Jack Sparrow was great too), and arranging for massages in our villa. The rooms were very well appointed with upgraded kitchen etc, and the air-conditioning was a must for us for comfortable sleeping. If you plan to cook dinners yourself, then everything should work out. However, we ate out all 3 nights there (short trip I know) and required a taxi each time to the local restaurants ($20-$25 USD round trip) which was really the only downside.

I've been to St Vincent about a dozen times but this trip was the most memorable. My fiancée, Tracie and I with Tracie's daughter Christie, arrived quite late (thanks to Liat) but we couldn't have found a warmer welcome. Sophie had arranged to provide us with a few basics like milk bread etc and come the morning we awoke to the most amazing view form our balcony, the sun was shining and we were all very happy to be there. The cottage was extremely well equipped and clean and the accomodation was very comfortable. I think Sophie and Guy have a little paradise here and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Thanks again guys for looking after us so well, and well done Guy for winning the rugby match between SVG National Team and HMS Halifax. I drank a little too much of the sunset rum but it was a lovely day. Christie and Gabriel especially enjoyed Sophie's homemade banana cakes.

A lovely trip to Tobago Cays thanks to Fantasea Tours and our beautiful wedding day at Buccament Bay Resort highlighted a fantastic holiday. We very much look forward to staying at White Sands again soon.

I've stayed at White Sands Villas several times over the years and have never once been disappointed. The hosts, Sophie and Guy, are very attentive, friendly, professional, and welcoming, making each stay absolutely delightful. They have also arranged various tours so that I could get a better impression of beautiful St. Vincent and what all it has to offer to its visitors.

The cottages are all charmingly decorated, with everything one can possible want and need on a vacation in the Caribbean. Location wise, I would say it is one of the best in St. Vincent, as it is central enough to get to Kingstown, the airport or the ferry terminal within a reasonable time, yet you really are away from all the hustle and bustle and can enjoy peace and quiet. An added bonus is of course the waterfront location, with one of St. Vincent's only white sandy beaches nearby, great for taking a dip in the mornings or cooling off in the afternoons. I can only recommend it further!

We had an amazing visit to St Vincent. Sophie and Guy were wonderful hosts at White Sands Villas. The villas have stunning views over the ocean and harbour. They were extremely clean, spacious and great value. Sophie and Guy took us on a sailing trip to the nearby beautiful island of Bequia. We did lots of exploring of the island and the rum shacks and met some local characters. They were extremely helpful and friendly and knowledgeable about the island and its history. Can't wait to go back. It's a beautiful place to stay!

Our visit to St. Vincent was amazing, and made even more perfect by our stay at White Sands Villas. Our studio villa was right by the sea and the owners, Sophie and Guy, made our stay a true Caribbean experience by generously giving us an insight into the local area, history and culture. We went on a jaw-dropping sailing expedition with them and explored all the best rum shacks where we met some of the local characters! Our stay here was everything we wanted out of our trip to the Caribbean (and some), and in the end White Sands Villas was so much more than just a beautiful place to stay.
