The villa was spacious, well equipped and close to the beach. My only criticism is the linens and pillows are low quality and uncomfortable, the ac in my son's room never worked and the house could have been cleaner. I also thought the rental car we were given was poor quality. Had I know I would have just rented my own. Godfrey was very nice and took good care of us while we were there.
We sail and love sailing the Grenadines, and the view from Las Tortugas's pool and the house patio allows a very stunning and breathtaking view of the Grenadines. So relaxing, it's out of this world. Met Godfrey, the caretaker, and his wife, who made our stay even more enjoyable...so friendly and helpful. Imagine sleeping and waking to all the doors and windows opened, WOW!! What a feeling. The beach below is rightly named, Paradise Beach. Will definitely visit again and again.
This property is absolutely outstanding. The locations and views will be hard to match anywhere else, with your own private steps to the beach you couldn't ask for more!! We traveled with two babies so having our own infinity pool was priceless, splashing around after the beach tired them right out.
You really feel at home and we have never stayed anywhere so warm with such an amazing backdrop! Also some really cool local food places on the Island to go try. Really is a place that dreams are made of.
Nestled up the hillside overlooking Paradise Beach sits this amazing villa Las Tortugas. The views are breathtaking. It's a short walk to the tailor shop, where you can also rent a vehicle for your stay, and more importantly closer to one of Carriacous many great bakeries, the aroma of which makes you salivate as you pass by.
Paradise Beach is gorgeous. You can stroll to Banana Joes for a cold beer or hang out at Off the Hook, an extraordinary beach bar run by Curtis. Here you can rent sea kayaks, play beach volleyball, eat one of Colleens delicious dishes or just hang out and listen to the music as the day goes by.
The Villa is meticulously maintained and beautifully appointed with everything you need for a getaway. The pool is perfect for cooling you down as you while away the day on the pool deck. The terrace is perfect for enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner and offers vistas looking north to Union Island. The two master bedrooms are perfect with doors that open to the terrace. We didn't use the air conditioner because the constant trade winds kept us cool and comfortable. The game room and pool table in the lower level was excellent as well.
All in all I would highly recommend Las Tortugas for a getaway of 4 to 6 people .
We really enjoyed our stay here.
Private, beautiful view, toughest decision of the day was whether to stay by the infinity pool, or walk down to the beach. The water was crystal clear and the beach was clean and quiet. Not a commercialized island. Decent restaurants or just grill at home. If you are looking for beauty and relaxation, this is the place. If you are looking for shopping, night life, clubs and five star dining; this is not the place. All you need for clothing are swim suits, shorts and t-shirts. We over packed and really brought some of the wrong clothing. Godfrey was charming and very helpful. We really had trouble leaving and want to go back! Loved it!
We tried to book this villa last year but was unable to get the dates to work with flights from the UK etc but after speaking to the owner (Paul) a few times we hoped to be able to travel in 2017. This we did and have to say Paul and his family were brilliant in helping us with the booking of the villa.
Once booked we sorted out flights (via British Airways) to Grenada (via St Lucia) and had to stay overnight before getting our connecting flight to Carriacou the following morning.
This was made easier by once again Paul and Karin helping us with suggestions for our overnight stay and advising us to book our internal flights early as they do get booked up very quickly.
We arrived to be met by Godfrey who quickly sorted out our hire car (a real must) and took us shopping etc. When we first arrived at the villa and the large doors first opened we (four adults travelling as two couples) just stood there open mouthed - the views are stunning, really stunning!!!
The villa is perfect for two couples with bedrooms at either end of the balcony, both have complete en-suite facilities and are very large, comfortable with plenty of space for clothes etc. There is also a safe in one of the bedrooms.
Las Tortugas is a beautiful villa with lots of creative touches which makes it more like staying in a home as opposed to just a holiday rental.
The free internet was brilliant with really good connection and download speed considering the location and this really helped me keep in touch with my business while I was on holiday.
We never ever got bored with simply looking over the bay at the boats coming and going and with a pathway running down to the beach it was just perfect. The island itself is very unspoiled (and long may it stay that way), the people are really friendly and make you very welcome. We always felt very safe and secure everywhere we went on the island.
We catered mostly for ourselves during our stay only eating out a few times during our stay. This was not a problem and we all enjoyed sitting out in the evening with a nice drink eating and simply relaxing.
We are all well travelled and have stayed in many different places and villas over the years - without doubt Las Tortugas is one of the very best.
Pros: amazing views of ocean and islands from everywhere on the property. Night views are clear due to no light pollution. Comfortable amenities include billiards table, separate patio/pool area, full kitchen.
Excellent air conditioning in 2 bedrooms, each of which also has a desk and full bathroom (showers, no tub).
Great lizards (one was in our bathroom, easy to catch and remove).
Total privacy without neighbors.
Huge patio area for relaxing, eating, etc.
Fun, paved path down to narrow, soft-sand beach with bars/restaurants and water taxis.
Godfrey, the property manager, is a congenial, fun, entertaining expert on all things Carriacou and attends to any needs associated with the Villa. He met us at the airport and arranged the rental car and saw us off at the airport at the end of our stay. His role was integral to our experience.
During our December stay we had a constant breeze (sometimes full-fledged wind) that kept the Villa comfortable. Very few mosquitos, no Zika on the island.
Solar hot water, can be variable, depending on clouds.
Insects; as expected in tropical settings, the sugar ants were in kitchen and both bedrooms/bathrooms. We put ant poison out and noticed fewer ants approximately 3 days later. It would be best if put out a few days prior to guest arrival.
Rainwater catchment tanks are below bedrooms, so whenever a good rain shower falls, it sounds like a fountain below the bedroom (we first noticed this at 3am!).
