The end justifies the means - is so true with this site

I would not recommend for kids or unfit persons or anyone with injuries.

I was going to say elderly folk, but my guide was a resident of the area and appeared to be a senior citizen and made the trip with ease.

Make sure and wear comfortable clothes, good shoes, a change of clothes, towel, water, snacks, mosquito repellant, and some muscle rub :)

You walk though virgin jungle to get to the site, pass through streams, see wildlife in abundance.

I could see myself living in this part of Trinidad - so clean and beautiful.

The hike to get to Paria is always quite challenging, regardless of whether it's been a hot sunny day or a typical day in the rainy season. However, when you get to the end and see the amazing cascading crystal clear water, it makes the suffering (maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit!) all the more worth it! This is a definite must-see for any nature enthusiast (or not!) who wants to enjoy Trinidad's natural beauty!

To get to Paria, you must take either the three hour long journey from Brasso Seco in the heart of the Northern Range or use the spectacular coastal route from Blanchisseuse village - a trek that takes one and a half hours of sometimes challenging walking.
Every moment on this popular pilgrimage is a revelation.
From Brasso Seco Village you will encounter an astounding array of birds and floral varieties. The walk takes you through time as nature has put a halt to all but the trail you're taking. Nothing compares to it.
The coastal route is breathtaking. Formations that are as unique as could be found and a series of beaches and vistas provide you with a memorable experience.
Then the waterfall is indeed a Force of Nature. The sheer volume of water cast from a cleft above makes you wonder if nature was giving up all her waters to the crystal clear pool below.

Remember, it's a hike you're going on. Have your food rations in abundance, water, drinks and energy bars. A camera is a necessity. Your clothes must be comfortable and designed for the journey. Good supportive footwear is important.

YOU MUST GO WITH A LOCAL GUIDE. This hike is not for those unfamiliar with the route.
