“not a great hotel to stay in”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

I was supposed to stay a full week but checked out early. Called for wake up call three days at night and had to come down to front desk because clerk was blasting music on computer. Came in one night security guard in back hallway on phone and not paying attention at all. Food was not good at all had trouble with hot food. Only one small restaurant and some days didn't even have potatoes. Front desk daytime really helpful but could not make up for the four rooms i changed to get a good one. Pool party kept me up till 230am and had to call security to threaten to call police to stop noise. Came to book from church and would warn anyone to find a better hotel with more to offer. Flew back to states with two other couples sick from food at hotel

Room Tip: Book another hotel with more to offer

Three wonderful days in the very nice warm weather , with very nice friends from Québec city.
We were from walking distances from the Botanical garden of that city and we also visited the zoo which enjoyed very much. Spend the whole afternoon walking and we didn't suffer from the heat.

Room Tip: Very nice and big room

I went for a wedding in Trinidad this hotel was mentioned to me by the someone. The halls were so musty to the point of "what is that smell". The room was not bad with the musty smell though. I could see there was not much work done in the cleaning of the bathroom. The best thing for me at the Carlton was the bed. It was very soft and comfortable. Front desk staff was ok.

I stayed at the Carlton Savannah on two occasions for 2014 so far. I can safely say that on both occasions it was definitely a worthwhile experience. The first occasion was for New Years which I rented one room. The staff was more than accommodating and so very helpful! The second time I stayed was for my birthday in March which I rented two rooms at a quite unbelievable rate! The front desk service was exceptional! I requested that one of the rooms be turned into a living area where I could have hosted a party with my friends and the bed to have been folded up into the wall which they did at no extra cost to me! I also requested that both rooms be superior suites on the 12th floor away from other guests on the floor so as to not disturb anyone which the hotel staff and front desk staff was more than happy to oblige! I could not have asked for any better service. The rooms itself are spacious and gorgeous! Bathroom facilities are impeccable! No complains! Excellent stay! Will recommend to anyone!

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms on the 8th floor since those seem to have the most maintenance problems! However...

For the same money, in other places you get 5 stars. Here you get 1.
I was first given a room on the 10th floor (“deluxe" rooms). Air conditioning was not working. Second room given was better. Still, traces of wear and tear are evident all over the hotel (stained rug, scratched furniture, stained headboard, unhinged closet doors, etc). Towels smelled bad some days and some were coming apart.
I had a training event in the hotel. On the first day the training room had problems with the air conditioning. Second day we were put where their “fancy restaurant” used to operate. It was not much better. I definitely would not recommend this hotel for business events. Service is deficient.
Service at the restaurant is very bad. Every time I ate there I had to get up and go to the bar where staff were chatting to get the bill. Nobody smiles. One day I was having breakfast and a hotel employee started vacuuming around me! It was 8:00 am. On Sunday , fruit was brought to the breakfast buffet only when I asked if there was any.
Two days, after work, I asked for a beer to have by the pool (17:00). “Sorry sir, we cannot serve alcohol as we are doing inventory”. No more comments needed… Other guests were bringing glass bottles (!) bought outside to consume by the pool.
BTW, the pool has a bright green glow by the edges of the stairs…yes, it is algae. The pool and the surrounding area are in terrible state.
In short, a CATASTROPHE. The hotel has ONE restaurant, which is not delivering. No more services. Service is uninterested and not cordial at all. Decor must have been nice, but it is falling apart.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I had a nice stay at this hotel. My room was clean. Had ac, cable etc. I ate breakfast in the restaurant which was good, eggs and toast and some veggies.

I think what this hotel needs is a little touch up. That's all. There's some paint scrapes, a cracked table in the lobby and some minor water marks here and there. Things that could all be fixed in a weekend.

Otherwise this hotel is great and has friendly staff.
