At one time Woodford Cafe used to be a must-vist every Saturday for lunch for their delicious, moist & falvourful Pelau. However, I can't tell you honestly when the last one was as great as it used to be. They must have changed Chefs! There is never consistency anymore and the service is getting sloppy & disappointing - probably because the servers are very very young and change too often. One Saturday we walked in the main door and was greeted by a hostess who then took us back outside to fetch menus and told us we had to go back around through the back/side door and when we asked why - she said that the front entrance was to be used only by people going to the bar! Unbelievable idiocracy! Also, the variety of the menu was recently reduced and it is becoming terribly boring to have the same selection year after year. What about changing the weekend specials monthly? Unfortunately, I will have to downgrade my original 5 rating to a 2 until the food quality, variety and service improve significantly.

We had the Chili Cheese Fries, The Shark and Bake, Jerked Chicken Alfredo and The Stewed Beef with A Baked Potato and Lentil Peas. It was fantastic!

“Great place!”
Reviewed 14 November 2008

Great menu selection, the food was all done exactly right and was very tasteful. LOVE their pitchers of beer! It's called a table topper and is a lot of beer, kept cold because the base is ice filled. Pleasant atmosphere too. Downstairs from the casino at Movietowne.

“A total farce”
Reviewed 14 August 2008

We had dinner at the Woodford Café on the recommendation of our hotel, to try some local Trinidad fare. It is located in Movietown, a busy mall just outside downtown Port of Spain, and on Saturday night parking was a bit difficult. This is a supposedly a popular restaurant and bar with a lively atmosphere, but we were underwhelmed by the below-average to average food and indifferent, slow, and unreliable service.

We started with some fairly good Honey BBQ wings (should be noted that BBQ wings are difficult to screw up), but our “main” course of stewed oxtail took over an hour to prepare (not sure if the server forgot to enter the order) and was mostly fat and bone, with very little meat. The local side dishes (with the stewed meats you pick two from a broad list) were ok, but the poor service and lousy meat made the meal truly forgettable. Especially when we paid $25 per person for such [-]. To top it all off, we got no apologies from our server for the long wait for our food, and empty water glasses were removed from the table (instead of refilled) as we waited for our main course.

There are definitely better places in Trinidad at far lower price points than the Woodford Café. Save yourself time and money. Go elsewhere.
