This hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed at and my experience there was pure luxury. The hotel staff were kind, helpful and understanding. The hotel itself was clean, well kept, very luxurious and had beautiful, new furniture.
The hotel has over 20 floors, with four elevators on each floor (as far as I recall) , all of the leisure items are located on the 4th floor, consisting of a pool, a spa and a gym. There is also a large conference room available for use by guests upon request.
You have the option of either a city view or a sea view ( City is better to me because when you choose sea, it just looks blue with the occasional few boat and ships passing through, unless you are on a low floor and can see the pavement with people walking)
Room service is available 24-7 and only took 5 minutes with my breakfast at 10 am. When you are finished eating you have to leave the food dishes outside your door(the hallway) and any member of staff passing picks it up, which I didn't like because it removed the 'fanciness' I guess, but the food is amazingly delicious.
When you go downstairs for dinner, lunch, etc. You either dine inside or outside. Inside has some very cold ac so I suggest you bring a light jacket, while outside is the temperature of the island which can be very hot if not used to it.
In the end I was very sad to leave and return home but I throughly enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and would go back any time I can. I recommend this hotel to anyone who likes luxury and relaxation.

Room Tip: If you choose city view then the higher you are the better, if you select ocean/sea view, then the l...

Christine from the hotel claimed the driver was waiting. But, the airport meeting area is narrow and specific. A reservation was made and confirmed in advance. Yet, no driver and no call from a driver looking for me.

I waited for 15 minutes. I watched those after me on the immigration queue with checked luggage - I had only hand luggage - leave. I resigned myself to a normal taxi.

This is one of the fundamental logistical requirements of hospitality service that one expects from a hotel, especially after hours of travel and nights at 35,000 feet. The Port of Spain Hyatt failed this test badly. In my view, longhaul travel is made bearable by logistical fluidity. For a hotel, their part of the process includes airport pick up/drop off, rapid check in/check out, efficient meals, 24-hour business centre type services, and fast internet. No matter how nice the property, how wide-ranging the breakfast, and views, if the fundamentals break down, the hotel is a failure.

What exacerbated this was no concierge available until 11am the following morning! No one was thus there to take responsibility. Instead, "mis-communication" (between whom I do not know) was blamed.

The Hyatt is obviously trading on its new and pleasant aesthetics, location, and lack of competition. But, in terms of global position, it will sit in the nadir whilst the basics are neglected.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in September 2013. Conference for him, leisure time for me.

The hotel itself is lovely. The room was large, very comfortable, and clean, and the wireless worked consistently. We had a room on a higher floor that overlooked the water, but, as expected for a working port, the view isn't all that great. The public areas of the hotel were very nicely appointed with many places to hang out and read. The pool is small but pleasant enough when it isn't crowded. The pool area has a good number of lounge chairs, tables, etc, and towels, all of which is comfortable, but the grounds are on the bleak side and they tend to blast music during the day. The hotel itself isn't in walking distance of much but the Breakfast Shed, so I would not choose this for a vacation stay.

I found all of the staff to be very professional, sometimes perhaps a bit too professional to the point of being stiff! The bar staff were good, and I really liked how the waitress got excited when we ordered a choka platter rather than typical hotel fare. She also recommended a few good places in town to get doubles. Speaking of choka, the breakfast buffet had a different choka every day, and that breakfast buffet was my favorite part of the stay! Excellent! Bottom line: this is a very comfortable, upscale, well-managed hotel for a conference, but probably not a good vacation-base.

There is no doubt that this is the best hotel in Trinidad.

The rooms are beautiful and the service is topnotch: everyone is smiling, formal (not in an awkward way!) and spotless.

Restaurants are good, quite up to international standards. The breakfast buffet is a perfect mix of local and american. As expected it's expensive.

More reasonable (and authentic) breakfast or lunch can be found next door at the Breakfast Shed - a must just for the local experience.

The infinity pool is beautiful, if a bit small (a minor complaint).

Also, parking is not included in the rate and costs a bit expensive. Then again, if you're able to afford the nightly rate you can definitely pay for the parking!

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE IN PORT OF SPAIN TO:
- Stay
- Eat
- Lounge around (Limm'n)
- Enjoy Security and Safety

The Hyatt has ALL the ingredients of high end island hotel

We enjoy the
BREAKFAST BUFFET 10 out of 10
- selection was excellent
- some local food and some Canadian / American selection
- good variety of fresh fruits, hot items, pastries, everything you could want
- coffee was good and quick on refills (important when I was still waking up)

PATIO 10 out of 10
- The live music in the evening was Excellent (singer and musicians were extremely talented)
- After a full day of activities/meetings: it was extremely relaxing sitting on the patio enjoying the sea breeze and a light meal

ROOM 10 out of 10
- Very Comfortable: Mattress and Pillows made for a great rest
- Huge Shower
- Beautiful View: our room overlooked the Ocean
- Wifi was good

HEALTH CLUB 7 out of 10
- Above average hotel gym BUT some cardio equipment was not working properly

ROOM SERVICE 4 out of 10
This was our Biggest Disappointment: We were in a hurry so we ordered a sandwich and salad at the pool and had it sent to our room
* We told the staff we were on a tight timeframe and could they deliver it quickly. It took an almost an hour to get a sandwich

Room Tip: Get a room that is on a high floor that overlooks the Sea - nice view and very quiet

I've stayed at Hyatt's worldwide this Hyatt has the best customer service and friendliest staff of any of them. I was greeted with a glass of sparkling wine (juice or water for those non-drinkers), a very friendly and helpful desk clerk and a bellman who expalned everything to me as we walked through the lobby to the room....where each restaurant was and where the live music was and what was 24 hours etc.

They have a fantastic pool and fitness center.

The hotel is comfortable, big rooms great wireless internet. A good location right on the water and close to plenty of restaurants and bars. BUT do not walk around, take a taxi.

I would highly recommend this hotel for any business or leisure traveler.

Great service in Waterfront Restaurant, friendly parking valets, efficient and smiling front desk staff make this a welcome place to stay. Pool is very nice-with poolside service and a nice view over the water and the Port of Spain. Rooms are spacious, bed is comfortable, and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a water view if you can.
