“Great Staff, Not Terribly Scenic”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Stayed overnight in early June, so did not experience all the amenities, but we were pretty happy overall. The beds were incredibly comfortable, but if you have any mobility issues, you may want to ask for a room with a shower. Ours had a tub/shower combo with a tall tub you had to climb into, so might be difficult if you have any physical restrictions. The location is on the waterfront, but unfortunately in a very industrial looking area. Not as scenic as what you might be expecting, however it was very convenient to the Ferry terminal, which was part of the reason we chose it. The pool area was really nice and the staff at the pool bar were just lovely. We had an excellent lunch there. All of the staff were very nice. We especially appreciated the Concierge service which arranged our airport transfer and purchased Ferry tickets for us which were waiting at the Concierge Desk when we arrived. 2 downsides: I made 2 quick local calls to a driver we wanted to take a tour with, got voice mail, so you know they were very short calls, and we were charged US$5.00 for each call.To use the computer in the business center cost $5.00 minimum. I guess they are geared towards business travelers who can write all of this off, but I thought these costs were excessive. On our way back, staying at the Holiday Inn Express, local calls were free and so was the use of the computer in their business center. Ironic that the Hyatt brand has less consideration for their guests than the Holiday Inn!

Room Tip: Ask for a shower if you have any difficulty climbing into a tub, as they were pretty tall.

We have stayed at the Hyatt, Port of Spain, several times in the past and we cannot fault the service and location. There is always a warm welcome on arrival and a quick check in and nothing is too difficult for the staff to handle. The food is excellent and the views of the mountains and ocean are spectacular. There is a five minute walk to the main shopping area of Port of Spain.

Great stay, I enjoyed the spacious rooms with very nice décor. There's a unique glass shower which us very nice, but not if you're sharing the room. There's a nice rooftop pool with beautiful view of Trinidad, it's very relaxing. However, the pool is very very shallow, maybe 3 or 4 feet I think, it's more for kids to swim and play. Also, waterfront restaurant and poolside drinks are expensive. I felt I could've had better food else where. It's a great hotel for business, but far from some attractions if you're using taxi. Overall, a great stay, one of the most comfortable beds ever! Hands down, the best hotel in Trinidad.

Was there for a conference and this is the 2nd visit to this hotel. Staff is very well trained, friendly and the hotel is clean. Everything is in good working condition. Room is great, has a large tv and bed is very comfortable to sleep in. Glass bathroom and glass door of the Toilet is nice, but not practical when you are sharing the room. Wifi is much better now compared to 2 years ago, gym is excellent and Pool area on 4th floor is great on a sunny day; when raining the area get's wet and slippery, especially the stair to the gym and spa on the 3rd floor. It should not be a difficult problem for an architect to design a roof extension to solve this. Also the pool area opens late, it would have else been a perfect location to do early morning yoga exercises. Also when sitting in the pool I noticed a lot of curtains partially loose from the rail (something I also observed in my room, 722). Breakfast is excellent; great variety of hot and cold items,-loved the pita bread- but pricey (ca $32). However it is more or less in the same range of the major hotels in Port of Spain. Waterfront area with view of the sea at back of hotel is very nice, but beyond this small park there is nothing else in this area which is safe to walk to. The restaurants in the hotel are good and the bar has the largest flat screen tv I have ever seen. Besides this, at night there is nothing else to do. Taking a taxi to Movie Town is expensive; a one way drive of 5 minutes costs ca $ 12 and the price double s after 22:00 pm. Hotel has no shuttle service to airport and a taxi ride cost $30. In summary this is the best business hotel if you need to be on business in this business area ( much better than the Raddison across the street), but at night there is not much too do.

Excellent hotel with good location and with excellent service. The price is a bit stiff however you get what you pay for. The only downside is, the lack of activities and a small pool on the fourth floor, which is excellent btw.

If you are traveling for business, Hyatt Regency is the place to stay in Trinidad.
It is perhaps one of the most modern hotels in the island. Take time to enjoy the pool on the 4th floor. If you are up for some Trini style breakfast, walk over to the "Breakfast Shed" and try some of the local food.
