We just returned home from a trip to Tobago; 3 couples exploring the island for the first time. We had read many reviews and received recommendations from the owner of the apartment where we stayed but no mention of Pleasant Prospect. We were directed to go to the Fish Pot which has been highly rated and seemed like the logical choice. When we arrived, they were full and could not accommodate us that evening. LUCKY FOR US! We walked next door to the Pleasant Prospect Café and had the absolute best meals of our entire stay! I had the "Trini Curry Shrimp" which was to die for; perfectly cooked shrimp with a delicious curry sauce served over a vegetable mash. It was outstanding! Everyone in our group raved about their meal; even the one who is hard to please. The food was beautifully presented; so pretty in fact, that we all took photos of our plates.
We tried several other restaurants over the course of the week and never found one that compared, so we went back for a second visit. It was a later time in the evening so we ordered appetizers and desserts. I had the seafood crepe with white wine sauce which was excellent. The ceviche was perfect; best I've ever eaten. The ginger pineapple cheesecake was out of this world and the homemade coconut ice cream was fabulous!
The young women who worked there were lovely, pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. In fact, we found them to be some of the friendliest people we had met on Tobago. Most of our encounters were lukewarm at best. The restaurant itself is beautiful with underwater vistas painted on the walls. The owner/manager was present and checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking.
From what I understand, the restaurant only just opened in August 2013 and many of the locals had very little knowledge of it. We would love to see them succeed since they have what it takes to be the best restaurant on Tobago. Go; you will not be disappointed!

We happened upon the Pleasant Prospect Cafe which was just down the road from where we staying. The open air restaurant had beautiful murals of underwater scenes on the walls. The tile floor was a work of art. Our meal was delicious and well presented on the plate. Menu had variety of choices for the seafood lover or not. Shrimp was especially delicious. We would highly recommend a visit.
