Travellers hoping for good food in relaxed surroundings in Scarborough better cross their fingers...hard. If you're hoping to do that at dinner and pay reasonable prices, well good luck: Scarborough is mostly about take-out chicken chains and actually eating at the restaurant is a novel concept here.

Ciao offers excellent Italian thin-crust pizza, pasta, good salads, wine and great Italian beer and you sit on the veranda, which provides an educational view of the Scarborough night scene (I've never been there before dark. It really is Italian and the atmosphere is pleasant and informal but plan on a reservation if it is a weekend evening or the height of the tourist season. There aren't that many tables (maybe 7?) and just showing up could mean that you have to wait. Or sit at the bar and have an Aperol or a spritz. It can get busy but you never feel overlooked and people actually seem happy to see you.

Dessert might be home-made tiramisu or a gelato from the noisier cafe/bar next door. I loved the Carib beer gelato.

2 people, beer, huge salad to share, foccacia, pizza, service charge: about TT$250. You can park out front. Ciao is a 5 minute walk from the port administration building.

Great pizza. Thin crust and choose your toppings. Service was outstanding. Parking terrible. Downtown parking area is best choice then walk. But it will be worth it. Then try the gelato next door. I even tried a taste of the beer gelato.

I can't believe I had to go all the way to Tobago to find such good Italian food. The pizza was amazing and the fettuccine Alfredo delightful and tasteful! The owner went out if his way to chat with us! Very good service and great food! Will def return back when we visit again from Miami! I spent 300 TT for two glasses of wine, meal, coffee and dessert!
