This is a great place to have a drink. There are sometimes bands playing music and there are both locals and tourists to mingle with. The only downside to the Salt Raker is the mosquitos there seems to be a lot more here than anywhere else on the island. I woke up the next morning covered in mosquito bites, so make sure you bring some spray if you go, although they do provide it sometimes. Otherwise great music, food!!! Would recommend.

The Salt Raker is a relaxed and comfortable inn with the ocean in the backyard.
Manager Erica makes you feel at home. The rooms are lovely and spacious. The bar is a great place for a meal and a beer as well as a chat with the locals.

Visited January 2013. Nichola618, GAnne and others wrote reviews that convinced me that Grand Turk and the Salt Raker Inn were right for me. And they were spot on.
The menu in all restaurants in Grand Turk have limits, based on what produce has been shipped in recently and on how the weather has been for fishing, etc. If this bothers you, then Grand Turk is not right for you. The pace is slow, there is rarely lively activity after 8 PM, except at Salt Raker on Friday nights (see Nichola618). If this bothers you, Grand Turk is not for you.
Scuba is very, very good. We dove with Grand Turk Divers. They were great. Of note for GT Diving, management was very fair and flexible with us in terms of scheduling our dives, and their rental gear was top notch, best rental gear I've ever used. We also rented bicycles from GT Diving, standard single speed beach cruisers, wide tires, fully appropriate for island. The bikes were great, when we once got a flat tire, they drove a new bike to us in 10 minutes.
Snorkeling is a bit of a disappointment. Not much good shore snorkeling. Excursions by boat are available, we did not take one, people rave about the snorkeling on Salt Cay and also speak highly of the excursions to Gibbs Cay and their stingrays. Salt Cay is not normally a one day trip, it is father away is often an overnight trip.
If you are at all active, rent bikes for the duration of your visit and use them to get everywhere. Head towards the lighthouse, turn right after the Arches but before the horse farm at a dilapidated red guard house. This will take you to a beautiful beach and the decaying, overgrown Coral Reef Hotel. A beautiful and creepy and unique experience.
Other items of note. Sunshines Cafe, on the old Airport Road just south of town has great goat curry and other dishes that are different for traditional island fare.
Jacks Shack, south near the Cruise Terminal is a lively place when cruise ships are docked. It is a beach bar, with playthings in the water (rock climbing float and trampoline), beach volleyball, and the best jerk chicken on the island.
Cool Beans for Ice cream.

If you're looking for a 5 star exclusive resort, then this is not for you. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, and to totally relax, then this is the place for you. We took our 9 year old son for a long weekend, and Erica and her staff could not have made us feel more at home. The rooms where large and comfy, and Erica had just redecorated the rooms. My son felt so at home, and he can't wait to go back. We went to another island and stayed at an all inclusive resort with all sorts of things for kids, but my son, just wanted to go back to the Salt Raker. Best relaxing vacation ever, sitting off on the hammock looking out to the beautiful blue sea, it was what you typically think of, for an island getaway. Friday nights they have a great band playing, so don't plan to go to bed early that night, because they will keep you awake.

Room Tip: Ask for the upstair room with balcony, you pay a little extra, but well worth it.

This is a traditional Bermundan House that has weathered all sorts of weather.
The rooms are clean and basic, Erika the hostess has a work ethic off the radar.
Nothing is too much trouble and she is kind and generous in nature.
Zeus her husband plays the Ripsaw on Friday nights along with Mitch and the High Tide band - good for a Caribbean wriggle! In season he as been known to grill the local Conch in a tasty vegetables.
The beaches are deserted with clear aqua waters.. The dive wall is ONLY 5 minutes from the shore and fantastic..
Rustic basics - great value for money to chill in the caribbean and still have money to do activities..

Room Tip: Ocean View
