“Fabulous Wedding & Ultimate Resort Vacation”
Reviewed 15 December 2011

The West Bay Club was the location for my daughter's wedding and a wonderful vacation for 20 family guests. Having vacationed at many luxury Caribbean resorts, we can say that we've never enjoyed a property as much as The West Bay Club. We have definitely found our new "home away from home".

Roxana, the WBC manager and wedding coordinator, did a fantastic job arranging everything for this destination wedding and the result was a fairytale wedding come true. The staff at WBC is outstanding - you get the impression that you are visiting their family home. The rehearsal dinner was held in the evening - poolside at WBC and both the food and service from their Atlantic Grill restaurant was superb -- it was a memorable night for everyone. The beach wedding ceremony was lovely with a bamboo arch and flowing curtains. And as the sun set, the beautiful white tents glittered with lights, music and dancing on the beach. As the evening progressed, a huge bonfire on the beach complete with s'mores (gourmet chocolate!) found us all gathered around in a circle to reflect on the joy and magic of this very special wedding.

RESORT
Beautifully decorated suite (we had room 504) - luxurious furnishings with 2 huge terraces looking out at Grace Bay Beach and its gorgeous white sand and turquoise water. If you view the photos on their website, they really look exactly like that! And everything is immaculately clean.

The food at the Atlantic Grill is excellent (we ate nearly every meal there and a continental breakfast is included), the pool is lovely and the grounds are immaculate. One of the nice things about the poolside chairs is that you can hang out at the pool and socialize or choose a private area to read and relax -- all on really comfy teak loungers with plush cushions and towels. Truly heavenly!

The concierge is excellent and can arrange great dining, water sports or tours for you - everything you ask for can be arranged. There are even complimentary bicycles for your use at the resort.

The beach is wonderful beyond words. At the more secluded end of the island, it is never crowded. The talcum-powder white sand and calm turquoise sea is like a postcard vision - it's my new screensaver (so I can dream about returning to the West Bay Club). The beach attendants are fantastic - they do everything to make your day perfect. They set up your lounge chairs, umbrellas, arrange activities and bring delicious rum punches! The array of free water sports and equipment is amazing - beach toys for the kids, kayaks, catamarans (they will take you out for a sail or you can take the boat out yourself!), snorkeling equipment, and the best floating lounge pads I've ever floated on! Snorkeling is right off the beach and national marine preserves/reefs are located both to the right and left of the resort - a short stroll away!

I know my family intends to return to The West Bay Club - we'd love to go every year! For a special occasion, a family reunion, a wedding/honeymoon or just a relaxing vacation, The West Bay Club is the perfect place.

Room Tip: The suites all have huge ocean view terraces - worth the extra cost to upgrade from a studio. Also...

I did months and months of research, having never been to the Caribbean at all. My husband and I arrived on 11/22 for a week's vacation, over Thanksgiving, at West Bay Club. We could not have been more pleased. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The service is so kind and friendly and helpful. We had a studio room with a kitchenette. There wasn't much of a view, but the room itself was lovely, clean, comfortable, roomy. The guys on the beach were so sweet- every morning set up our chairs for us, got us snorkeling equipment, even gave us lessons on how to drive the catamaran. The hotel is on a beautiful part of the beach, an easy walk or bike ride to the grocery store, a quick walk to a great snorkeling area. It's been 2 days since we've been back in NYC and I am already working on a plan to go back.

We just returned to Atlanta from a 7 night stay at the West Bay Club 11/19/11 to 11/26/11. The suite we were in and all of the property was beautiful. The suite was state of the art with all the conveniences you would expect and more! The beach was so pretty with crystal white sand and turquoise waters, and the pool area is most inviting. The Managing Director, Dane Underwood hosted a cocktail party for guests on Wednesday and he was very informative and helpful about the island. We plan to return to the West Bay Club again next year! Having been to Cabo San Lucas, Punta Cana, Grand Cayman and Barbados, this was by far our favorite!

We really enjoyed this hotel and would stay there again. We had a three bedroom luxury suite on the third floor. The rooms exceeded my expectations- very spacious, comfortable furnishings and two great balconies with gorgeous views of the ocean. It really was a one bedroom luxury suite connected with a standard two bedroom suite. So we had two kitchens, two living rooms, two washer and dryers and 3.5 bathrooms. One balcony had a table with four chairs, a lounge chair and two additional chairs with ottomans. The other balcony was a bit smaller with a table and four chairs. The king beds were very comfortable. Two bathrooms had a step in shower with one sink and the other had a separate tub and shower and two sinks. All the bathrooms were nice and spacious.

Even though the room was nice and comfortable—it was not my favorite thing about the resort—my favorite thing was the beach! Just stunning! The beach was very wide and uncrowded. In addition to palapas that were set a bit back from the ocean, the beach staff would set up umbrellas closer to the water. We actually preferred the palapas though because they were a bit bigger so provided more shade, and they were also taller than the umbrellas. There were complimentary beach activities- hobie cats, paddle boards, kayaks and snorkeling equipment. The water was nice, although a bit on the choppy side when we were there. We also enjoyed the delicious watermelon they brought out to the beach each day around 11. There is sea grass, but we saw a couple of stingrays while snorkeling in front of the hotel. And the sea grass was in the deeper part of the water, so it would not deter me from getting in the water at all. There was some seaweed on the beach (we were there right after a tropical storm that did not really hit Turks and Caicos, but I think just brought in some waves and the seaweed.), but they raked it up each morning. It was also a 10 minute walk to Coral Gardens for some great snorkeling (better than I had expected!).

We liked the location of the hotel—on a wider and quieter part of the beach, away from the main resort area. We were walking distance to the Gansevoort, Coral Gardens and Windsong for some variety. But I would recommend renting a car to explore the island and visit different restaurants.

The pool was never crowded—actually there was usually hardly anyone there. I didn’t spend much time there because I prefer the beach—but the terrycloth covered pool chairs were very comfortable. We also liked that there was an awning over part of the pool so you could be in the shade while in the water if you wanted. My husband also enjoyed the hammock.

All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The concierge was helpful with making dinner and activity reservations and with giving us directions. The guys at the beach were there right away to set up the chairs and towels. They offered to take us out on the hobie cats too. We enjoyed the free cocktails (mmm rum punch!) at the manager’s party too.

I do have a few minor complaints, but these wouldn’t stop me from staying there again. The hotel used to advertise free bottled water on the beach—so I was expecting that. When I asked about it, they said it was available for purchase only. I checked their website and they had updated it to not include that, but I was still disappointed because we had to make another trip out to the store for more bottled water. One of the twin beds was very noisy every time you moved. We saw a large roach one day—they sprayed the next day and we didn’t see any other bugs in the room for the rest of the trip. The continental breakfast was ok, but the juice was often warm, occasionally the milk didn’t taste right and we came across a couple of stale bagels one day. They played hip hop and pop music at breakfast every morning. Personally I like that music, but I would have thought they would have played more islandy music instead- I think that would have provided a better ambiance. There was a mistake on our bill—drinks purchased by people in another room were charged to our bill (the room number was similar, so I can see where the mistake happened), so make sure to check your bill carefully.

Room Tip: Request a high floor for the best views.

Imagine that you're plunked down on a Caribbean island with nearly perfect weather. Some days you have the beach almost to yourself. After swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying a daiquiri or two, you return to your luxurious accommodations, which look like something out of a major design magazine. This is an accurate description of our recent stay ( returned last night) from The West Bay Club.

Sure, there are other resorts that are trendier: The Gaanesvort next door, stuffier: The Regent Palms, The Somerset, or down-on-their luck: Coral Gardens, but for the money and amenities offered, it would be hard to surpass the quality and surprising- in off-season, anyway-affordability of The West Bay Club.

The only downside? The location is a bit isolated, so you will need a car or have to rely on taxis to take you to some of Provo's amazing restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a room from the second floor up. We had a ground view luxury one bedroom which detracted fro...

We stayed here from 11/11/11 to 11/16/11 and it was everything we hoped for. The property itself is very pretty. Our room was spacious enough, with a great shower and plenty of closet space and a small built-into-the-wall kitchenette. The building must have been built well because we heard no noise from outside.
The gorgeous beach is just a few steps away, and staffed by very friendly and helpful people who get your lounge chairs set up with towels, deliver drinks from the beach bar and offer suggestions, in a very low-key way, of things to do in the area.
Snorkeling is available a few minutes away. Swimming is wonderful. The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. It was a perfect way for us to spend my birthday, and we'd go back in an instant.

My husband and I looked into other hotels in Turks and Caicos and the west bay club was the best price for the reviews we saw on tripadvisor. It was worth the stay because it's location is perfect. It's in grace bay beach but in the corner - which makes it quieter and cleaner. The sand is powder white and turquoise blue waters! The breakfast is usually included with your hotel stay and it was good- nothing fancy. Just bagels, toast, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juices. If you want eggs, you have to pay for them but the prices are very reasonable/ inexpensive.
We also rented a car from Avis at the airport and it is really easy to get around the island. We are americans and had no problem "driving on the other side" of the road- just remember to keep to the left. I recommend renting a car beforehand on a travel
Website-- also just print directions to the hotel beforehand. They didn't have any maps left at Avis and if I didn't print the directions- we would have gotten lost. The west bay club and all other hotels are on one strip- 8 minutes from the airport.
We also went to the carribean food & wine festival for lunch on Saturday. It was a great experience. The people of Turks and Caicos island are very nice!
