We stayed from 3/1-3/6/12. The room was modern, sleek (pictures attached). It had a beach view from terrace, but we knew that the lower price (still over $400 after taxes/service) was less important to us. Room has kitchenette and laundry along with a second terrace view of pool. Service was excellent and continental breakfast was good. Small gym, but it does the trick if you need to work-out. Pool is excellent for kids.

Crowd was generally in 30-40 range. Beach was beautiful, with free water sport options available such as Hobie cat, paddle boarding, and snorkel gear. About 10 minute walk to the right (east) was Coral Gardens with excellent snorkeling, but it was not crowded.

A better snorkeling location was Smith's reef. It is about a mile walk to the left of the hotel (west) and it was fairly quiet. We saw a turtle and small shark (picture included), but snorkeling was great - saw Queen Angelfish, starfish and plenty of other colorful fish along with a couple of small schools of squid.

Not many shady spots, as opposed to the numerous umbrella spots at the hotel, but definitely worth the visit. If you drive as we did, go west and stay on beach road and make right at Green Bean Cafe. Take to end of road and then turn left. Go to end of road and continue down small alleyway (picture) and parking is right there.

We also went out to Malcolm Beach. It is a nice deserted location, but a bumpy road to parking lot. No shade as well.

Couple of good dining spots - Coco Bistro, Coyaba (excellent and pricey). O'Soleil/Magnolia - not bad. Hemingway was mediocre.

Car came in handy, especially for restaurants.

Turks and Caicos is quite stunning and we didn't even go to other islands. It is pricey however.
West Bay Club was overall worth it for us.

Enjoy!

My friend and I stayed for 6 nights in a one bedroom suite with an oceanfront balcony at the WBC. After scouring reviews for hotels in the Grace Bay area we decided on the WBC because of great prices and good looking pics on their website. We are so happy that we decided to stay at the WBC vs. Reef Residences or the Coral Bay Club because the beach around their hotels was narrower and the hotels were right next to each other - more crowded than at the WBC. Our room was spacious - modern appliances in the fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, free wi-fi, giant flat screen, comfortable bed and very roomy bathroom. The oceanfront balcony was awesome! Service was excellent - William and Eduardo were so friendly and helpful at the beach. Even though it was high season, they made sure everyone had umbrellas and chairs. Housekeeping did ring our doorbell even though we had our privacy sign up, but other than that we had an excellent time at the WBC.

We stayed a week this February in a one bed deluxe. Our last visit was a year ago May. Again, no complaints regarding the condo, it was nicely appointed, with a very large balcony with sitting and dining area, and the view was gorgeous. As all others have said, I think it is the best value on the beach, and the best location as well. Housekeeping do a great job and the grounds are pristine. Yes, the breakfast and get boring after a while, but that was not a great concern for us. Yes, the pool is on the smaller side, but the whole condo complex is smaller than most. Again, not a concern as we spent most days touring to other beaches. We would not hesitate to return - maybe this fall.

Room Tip: deluxe rooms on higher floors for the view

I just came back from the West Bay Club in a first-ever trip to Turks and Caicos. This was an annual girls trip with five other moms from my town. We are pretty picky about where we stay and always stay at very nice places (ie: The Ritz). We absolutely loved WBC. We had the three bedroom penthouse and it was awesome. Each bedroom was very spacious and had its own large full bath. The shower in 503A (the bedroom with the balcony) had awful water pressure and although they tried to fix it, it didn't get any better. That however was our only complaint of the rooms. The penthouse (which was really two units connected (503 and 503A) had a full kitchen, dining area, living room, as well as a laundry room with a 1/2 bath, a bar area with wine fridge and another washer/dryer in one of the bedrooms. The balcony had plenty of furniture and overlooked the gorgeous ocean.

The staff was very accommodating (Stormin Norman even found my diamond necklace that fell off my neck and returned it to me). The rooms were cleaned wonderfully each day with a second set of fresh towels delivered at the end of each day so you could take a shower before dinner and have fresh towels.

The pool was very pretty (not huge), but plenty of seating around the pool with additional more private little alcove type areas and two hammocks for a late afternoon snooze. The hotel itself is not huge so it is a very short distance from your room to hitting the sand on the beach which is a huge plus if you forget something in the room or just want to go back and have lunch, snack or grab an alcoholic beverage of your own.

The only thing we didn't love was the restaurant. The Continental breakfast which was included in our package was great (fresh fruit, warm hardboiled eggs, toast, bagels, danishes, etc...), but the lunch we had immediately upon checking in was just adequate. The turkey in the turkey club was spongy and the nachos were made with an airy kind of chip instead of tortilla chips. So on future days we just opted to dine elsewhere..."Somewhere on the Beach" is a short walk on the beach and was great. And the Gansevoort Hotel next door was good for lunch as well.

So other than the water pressure in one of the showers and the restaurant, we loved WBC and highly recommend it. It's my choice for our girls trip again next year.

Room Tip: 503 and 503A connected to accommodate 6 people (could probably have a 7th because the sofa in the living room was comfy).

We just got back from a week at the West Bay Club. It was our first time at this resort and 2nd time on the island...we loved it! We stayed in unit 409 which is a 2 bedroom luxury suite on the 4th floor end unit. The suite was very well appointed. The furnishings were all updated, comfortable and modern and were perfect for the 2 couples. Our views from the main unit (master bedroom and living room) were amazing. The view from the 2nd bedroom (409A) was disappointing (overlooking a parking lot). Both bathrooms were nice although the 2nd bathroom didn't have anyplace to set our toiletries. But the beautiful shower made up for the lack of space. The master bath was spectacular. We thought the beds were soft and next time will bring our own down pillows.

The beach at the West Bay Club is beautiful. We liked that it wasn't packed with people. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The beach staff were all fantastic...especially Eduardo. They brought us fresh watermelon and were there to help us with anything needed. The snorkel gear they provide is good gear - no need to bring your own. We had a blast on the kayaks and going out on the catamaran with Eduardo. They arranged for a fantastic 1/2 day snorkel trip on Island Vibes...we had such a blast. Snorkeled then ate fresh conch ceviche, drank a little rum punch and listed to Spliff's great island music. We heard from others that this is the most fun snorkel boat.

The concirege staff was amazing especially Renee who booked all of our dinner reservations. Thanks to Renee, we always had great tables and she steered us right in terms of restaurants and entertainment. If you plan to eat at the nicer restaurants, I suggest booking your dinners in advance if traveling peak season.

Our fave fine dining restaurant was Anacaona. We had heard it was overpriced but we thought it was absolutely by far the nicest place on the island and priced the same as all of the other fine dining restaurants. Service was top notch. The food was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Ask for outdoor table close to the beach. We also loved Grace's Cottage which was very romantic and lovely menu. Again ask for outdoor table. We had been to Coco Bistro years before and enjoyed it this time but not quite as much as the first time. Food was good but not over-the-top amazing. The service was great though. Mango Reef was a disappointment. The service was awful...probably just caught them on a bad night. Magnolia's food was very good but the place has a lot of goofy rules which they spell out on their menu. We found it stuffy but again the food was good. We had pizza one afternoon at the Gansevoort which was great. Its a 2 minute walk from the West Bay Club beach. Da Conch Shack is a great place for a fun super-casual lunch or dinner. We also loved The Shark Bite for a fun casual dinner. We sat outside on the patio and had fun feeding the fish. They had a great cocktail menu and excellent burgers.

I went horse back riding with Provo Ponies and would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves to ride. They allowed us to canter on the beach 3 times and we were shoulder high in the water with the horses for about an hour....amazing! I'll definitely do that again. That was a highlight for me. Only about a 15 minute drive from hotel. Go in the morning if you can....best time to ride in the water with horses. I rode Romeo....loved him!

One thing we did not like about The West Bay Club was the pool. I guess if the pool had been much nicer, the place would have been priced out of our range. The pool is very small without much character. We feel this is where the West Bay Club falls very short. Also the breakfast that is included is average at best. We got tired of hard boiled eggs, bagels and yogurt. They ran out of fruit by 9:00 a.m. every day we were there. So we ordered off of the main menu which is very limited and not great food. But it was adequate. The staff at the restaurant were all amazing and provided great service.

Given the great price of The West Bay Club, we would go back. Anything nicer was almost double the price. The Gansevoort is beautiful but much pricier. The West Bay Club is by no means a sub-standard resort....just lacking at the pool is all. We hope to go again in 2013.

Room Tip: The higher rooms provide better views. If you want the views of more action, ask for a room facing the Gavensoort side. We loved our view from 409 which was unobstructed....gorgeous. No noise at all from AC, other units etc.
