Luckily, this place was incredibly easy for us to get to, making it even more enjoyable for us. From the moment we arrived, we began our 5 night relaxing vacation in a beautiful environment. Loved the hotel decor, modern and clean. Great rooms with fantastic ocean view. Food was very good. We went off property several nights and found some excellent restaurants. The beach and pool were both great spots for sunbathing and hanging out. The ocean water is the clearest I've seen. Simply breathtaking to be so close to the beauty of the ocean. Nearby snorkeling in a National Park is a must. Can't wait to go back!

My expectations were high given the price and the brand name. Gansevoort hotels have a trendy reputation in New York City, so i expected a piece of new York in paradise-like Providenciales island (also called 'Provo'). All in all I was not disappointed, but some details need attention. This hotel is full with young and middle-age couples, honey-mooners, and affluent professional people, mainly for the US and Canada.

Location:

The Gansevoort is in the "newer" part of Grace Bay -some locals call it 'Back-Bay'- and hence farther from the "center" where few shops and restaurants are. This is both positive and negative in my experience. The beach at Gansevoort is arguably the best with a wider stretch of powder-white sand than most hotels. It is the last hotel before a public park. This means no construction can go on by the hotel giving an ever larger "wild footprint" than any other hotels. This is great for the views, walking and snorkeling. The flip side is that you need to rent a car or take taxis to go other places by the shopping center where the "old Provo" buildings are.

Service:

This is the Caribbean and it is really hot. If you are used to 5-6 star service you may be surprised in T&C. Things here are more 'relaxed'. Still, I would expect a bit more attention to detail in the catering area of the hotel.

Rooms:

The one-bedrom ocean view suite is really great. Large with a separate bedroom and a nice kitchen full with all modern utensils to cook, toaster, microwave, wine chiller, juicers, etc. etc. and full cutlery too, including dishwasher, as well as washing machine and drier in separate room. Very handy, specially if you go with kids. Great towels and bed linen -first class-, and all really clean. 2 TVs, DVD player, ipod speaker and free wifi (that actually works from the beach!). The balcony is large with views to die for. Aircon is positively New York top quality that you control.

Swimming pool:

It is a bit like stepping on a fantastic bath. warm (hot) water in the centre of the hotel overlooking the beach. More people seemed to be enjoying the pool than 'the best beach in the world' , arguably. Only issue: no shower! You need to go to the beach, walk 200 yards to the beginning of the beach to shower and then get back. You are always looking at each other with suspicion "did s/he shower?" An easy fix.

Beach:

The greatest. We never left it, except for the incredible adventures we had like parasailing, snorkeling and others. These are waters you have never seen with a turquoise color and so transparent, "it hurts". So beautiful. Snorkeling is great with many fish just there you can see. some will even follow you and become your companions.Literally. They just follow you. I strongly recommend you go snorkeling to the coral reef. There are beds you can rent for hefty $75 a day, or you can use the beautifully appointed sun loungers with an umbrella that the attentive beach Staff will prepare for you, dressing them up with towels for you (tip optional)

Restaurants:

Managed by an external catering company, the Stelle is a good restaurant with T&C prices (expensive) and a limited menu, but all cooked well. The beach bar and restaurant is served by the same group and it is a good addition to your lunch hour. The service here is a bit lacking and they will take very long for certain items. We used them daily for 7 days and it really was slow. But you are in the Caribbean...

Frontdesk and Concierge:

Both professional and up-to the expected standard. Concierge gave us great tips and made reservations for activities, rental car and restaurants. Shut-out to Diane at front desk for her suggestions as well as Brendan in the pool-service, both went out of their way to advise us of few "secret places" to explore in the island. Look them up :)

The Gansevoort , like many other hotels in the island, are condominiums that you can buy and then rent out when you don't use them; so this is fractional ownership type of resort. There are the "owners" and the "guests", and you can tell the difference. So can the service Staff. Many other "hotels" in the area are not hotels as such as they have no restaurant, no room service. I suggest you make sure you understand all this before you decide where to go, a hotel with hotel services or a condo, "vacation rental" style property. The Gansevoort, despite its ownership is run as a hotel.

Finally, T&C is expensive. Food is same price as good restaurants in New York City. Drinks the same. Taxis are pricey and they may decide to pick someone else along the way; a bit odd if you are in a hurry. Unless you need to I would not use the private car pick up from the airport. It is 15 minutes away and they charge you $130, which is much more than a limo in NYC to JFK. Not very impressive service and completely out of proportion prices.

Grace Bay is really beautiful, and we decided to go when we saw it was voted number 1 or 2 in the world by TripAdvisor for years. Fantastic holiday.

Highly recommended.

Dear D0nTravel,

Thank you for the brilliant review. It was wonderful having you and we're thrilled your trip was great. You made a fantastic decision by choosing our oceanfront suite and we're happy you enjoyed all that it has to offer. We don't blame you for spending most of your time on our beautiful and unique beaches. It’s amazing that you had a chance to go snorkeling and explore the fascinating Atlantic Ocean life. We're also glad you loved our refreshing pool and appreciate your feedback regarding the showers. We apologize you felt that our service lacks thoroughness and we'll be sure to relay your comments to the rest of our team. We value your suggestions and we're grateful that you've taken the time to share your experience in great detail. It was a pleasure having you and we hope to make more island memories in the future.

Sincerely,
Jessica, Guest Services

I have to preface this by saying that my husband and I are very picky travelers. Super picky. Having said that, this property far exceeded our expectations. The resort is spectacular and very upscale. The staff is wonderful. They treat you with the utmost respect and go beyond the call of duty to help you with every detail possible.

The rooms are new, modern, and chic as is the entire architecture of the hotel. The infinity pool is very stunning, with just the right temperature for this time of year (July) to cool you down.
Because we were celebrating our 10th year anniversary, the hotel Manager Grant had upgraded us to a suite overlooking the wonderful turquoise water. It was picturesque. The suite was an apartment, fully equipped with microwave, refrig, dishes, utensils, paper goods, and a washer dryer (more than what a couple needed !) It was the size of an apartment that was comfortable for at least 4 people, with a separate living room/dining room area. The terrace had a lounge chair and a dining table with a candle on it. Perfect if you want to have dinner overlooking the beach from your huge balcony. They had even sent up chocolate-covered strawberries with a nice bottle of champagne to our room upon arrival. Very classy touch. The bed was so plush that I just did not want to leave. Showers/bath tub extremely unique- water coming down from the ceiling...as if you are taking a shower in the rain. Very neat.
Turndown service every night with bottled water and yummy chocolates on your pillow.

Breakfast buffet is complimentary every morning with your stay. Lots of different healthy options, including an omelette station. Complimentary coffee stations next to the restaurant should you choose to have caffeine before a work-out in their gym or our walk on the amazing beach.

The beach is one of the best we've visited. The guys at the beach were very helpful. Become friends with them, very informative (thanks Robert and Luis). We walked 2-3 miles down the beach to other resort areas and were so glad we picked Gansevoort. The other beach areas were extremely crowded , with lots of loud and obnoxious people (especially at some of the all inclusive areas). You cannot compare Gansevoort with other resorts. Gansevoort is in a class by itself. We reserved their beach beds a few times during our stay and it was heavenly.
The music is appropriate for this resort. Relaxing and chill/spa music in the mornings. A bit more upbeat during the afternoon, and lounge-type at dinner. It was extremely relaxing.
Excellent quality WiFi at the beach and all over the resort.

I spoke to one of the managers regarding complimentary shuttle service to and from shopping areas or the airport as another reviewer had suggested. Unfortunately, it is not under the control of Gansevoort. The government of Turks and Caicos prohibited them from offering this service. The taxis are controlled by the government and therefore, it sounds like it would take away from their revenue.

We ran out of time with all the activities we had planned so we didn't use Exhale Spa, but it looked amazing from the outside and prices were reasonable.

In sum, this vacation was blissful. My husband and I rarely visit the same city/country twice. But we will definitely make an exception for this resort. We will be back to Provo and we will definitely stay at Gansevoort. Congratulations Gansevoort for a well-run and stunning property.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1406 and it is amazing. Splurge if you can. You wont be sorry.

Daphne the concierge booked nine different reservations for us before we made the trip. Met her in person when we got there and loved her. Received bottled waters from hotel at the airport when we landed. Complimentary rum punch upon walking into the hotel. Complimentary bottle of wine in the room at check-in. I found every staff member I encountered (and there are lots) to be extremely attentive, professional, and friendly. Breakfast buffet had salad with fresh and varied options, make your own omelette, fresh fruit, etc. Dinner at Stelle was on par with Coco Bistro (boyfriend preferred the steak at Stelle). Couple's massage at Exhale was great; modern, spotless, and relaxing atmosphere and very skilled massage therapists (I had Nadisha). We went swimming in the middle of the night in the ocean, and again another night in the beautiful pool and had it all to ourselves. Lunch on the patio was also extremely delicious (grouper and pizza) and Kimberly gave us awesome service. Andrew at the bar was very fun, pleasant, and easygoing. I personally liked the melodic house music they play, but what can I say, it's my favorite kind of music. I even mentioned it to my boyfriend, it was very nice. We walked from our room to the Fish Fry and caught the very end of it, but I was just glad to get to hear local live music. Wendy, the hostess, put a bunch of great breakfast foods in a to-go box the morning we left (it was 6 am and breakfast wasn't open yet). Icing on the cake. Thank you, Wendy! I'm going to stay again the next time I vacation here. It was PERFECT! THANK YOU!

Thank you for the rave review. It was a pleasure having you and we're elated your trip was seamless from check-in to check-out. We strive to provide impeccable service and we're ecstatic that Daphne was able to book a room that best suited your needs. It's the little details that make moments the most memorable and we're glad you enjoyed the complimentary treats. We're also thrilled you loved Stelle's delectable Mediterranean cuisine and our breakfast buffet. It's wonderful that you had the opportunity to experience Turks and Caicos' island life by visiting Coco Bistro and the Fish Fry. Additionally, great tunes can liven any occasion and we're happy you enjoyed both the local music as well as ours. We look forward to providing another superb vacation upon your return.

My husband and I have been here just a little over 24 hours and we are here until this Friday the 4th. We came to relax, and we were expecting the hear some steel drums and Caribbean music. We are extremely disappointed in their choice of mood music. Other guests and hotel staff has agreed that the music should be more Caribbean based, but management seems to think otherwise. We would like to be able to enjoy this resort without feeling like we are still in the city.

Room Tip: Be sure to get ocean front, not ocean view. Ocean view is a view of palm trees with peeks of the wat...

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights for our honeymoon this June. We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The people treated us wonderfully, and the size of the hotel being a boutique hotel made you really feel a connection with all the employees. The location of the hotel is perfect. The A/C was nice and cold in our room. Our view of the beach was amazing. Breakfast every morning was idyllic. We really were both blown away by how perfectly everything went at this hotel. I would highly recommend the Gansevoort Turks to anyone on a honeymoon. We also saw a lot of "babymooners" here. It's the perfect location for romance and privacy and wonderful service!

Room Tip: All the rooms have beach views so you really cannot go wrong here!
