“A Wonderful Week In Paradise”

What a wonderful oasis! If you want to get away from it all this is the place. The hotel was just the right size for my wife and me. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and didn't want to leave. The staff is professional and friendly. They make you feel like world class travelers and a long lost relative. They also give fantastic tips on places to visit on the island. My wife loved the spa and I loved using the kayaks! Finally, we loved waking up with the beach only 30 yards away! Oh, the beautiful water and skies!

This really is paradise and seems to attract a young sophisticated crowd.

Just returned from a 5 day stay at Gansevoort T&C with my wife and 18 year old daughter. We are extrememely well travelled and have been to many beaches, resorts etc but this place is like no other. Nicest/widest beach on Grace Bay, white powder sand and still turqoise waters......but then it gets better. Brilliant hotel setting, gorgeous pool and impecable staff, all very well trained and only looking to satisfy your every whim. Impossible NOT to relax and unwind. The GM (Grant Friedman) is one smooth operator who clearly shows he's got what it takes to make The Gansevoort highly memorable. His staff is very competent at running a top-knotch resort and succeed greatly at making sure you will enjoy your holiday. Thanks to Jean-Francois, Raymond, Jill, Kanzy and Caroline who understand what the service industry is all about.

I have never been to the same resort twice but this one is a no-brainer. We will be back.

If you're looking to run away to the beach a few days, this is the spot! In fact, 3 days was not nearly enough time spent at this cute and trendy property. I can't wait to go back! And be sure to enjoy dinner at Bagatelle. The food is dee-lish!

One MUST DO -
While in Turks and Caicos go to Parrot Cay! The beach there is like no other in the world! The Parrot Cay hotel has a boat shuttle - with a small fee of $100 per person, the ride is about 45 minutes AND so worth it. The beach located on this property is the brightest blue/green ever and is shallow for miles. While there, be sure to borrow a kayak or go sailing gratis! You won't regret it!

My husband and I just returned from spending 8 days at the Gansevoort Hotel (7/13-7/20/09) and had a wonderful time. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, it is very posh in design and all the rooms overlook the ocean. The hotel was clean and well taken care of. The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Te general manager sent a bottle of champagne to our room to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! Jamal and the beach boys staff always had chairs and umbrella set up on the beach and we never had to wait. The beach is one of the best in the caribbean and the water is the perfect temperature. The staff at the hotel was extremely accommodating when it came to getting a cab and helping us find things to do on the island. The manager Jean Francsis was also very helpful to us one evening when he arranged for someone to go to the pharmacy for my husband one night when I had a migraine headache and he personally brought the aspirin to the room for me (I was so greatful).

Now for the low down on the island:

Cabs: 30 dollars per day (15 dollars each way).
Food: It's expensive because your in the caribbean (remember they have to import
everything). I liked the restaurant Coco Bistro and
Bagattele (Hotel Restaurant). Da Conch Shack was fun on Tuesday night
because of the music (order fried food only).
Snorkling: there is a reef off the beach near the hotel or you can take a tour. We had fun
snorkeling right outside the hotel.
ATV: went on "Froggs ATV tour" for 2 hours and had a blast.
Music: Jazz on Friday nights at "Hemmingway's restaurant"; Saturday Night music and
BBQ on the beach at Gansevoort (really fun).
Spa: We had the "Fusion Massage" at the hotel spa; it was wonderful. i haven't had
such a good massage in a long time.

The hotel was set up in a way that there is a lot of privacy. It is a hotel that is targeting couples and is very good for singles over age 30 also. There were 2 families there with small children and they played by the pool (not much for kids to do it's more for adults).

The only thing I did not understand at the hotel was there is a government tax on the bill which is standard but there is a "hotel tax" as well, I don't know if it is part of the gratuities or what it goes to.

The worst part was leaving and coming home.

Overall 5 stars awesome hotel!!

We usually stay at 5* resorts and last time stayed at the Amanyara. That was unbelievably good, but has got way too expensive - $1500 a night. The Mandarin Oriental in Dellis Cay will open sometime "soon" and should be a good bet.

Some points about our 5 days at Gansevoort TC:
* The hotel is pretty - in a modern uncluttered dark wood style
* The rooms are great - we had a 1 bed suite with a big terrace overlooking the ocean and a full kitchen.
* The beach is good - away from the other resorts and towards the end of major development, so quite quiet. I can't understand why the staff take reservations for the best stops around the pool and beach - surely it makes more sense to allow guests to use loungers for the time they need and free them up for others when they walk away. Perhaps it's a way to get tips, but it isn't good service
* The food is good - although the menus are repetitive.
* The service is quite a let down from other 5* resorts, eg beach staff made lots of excuses as to why the hobie cats coudn't be used (a different excuse every day), the "customer services manager" didn't understand how to take guest feedback, or how it could help improve the hotel, the room service staff got our orders wrong, etc.
* This hotel isn't inexpensive - even during low season!

We had a stay at Parrot Cay last time - their service was also poor, the rooms were nowhere near as good as Gansevoort's, but their beach was better and more private.

Would we go back? Probably not if we can get better rates for the Aman or the MO opens.

I just got back from 8 nights at the Gansevoort. It was just amazing in so many ways.

The service was top notch. Everyone went out of their way to making sure we were happy. From setting up dinner, to renting a car, to fun activities, to setting up a spot on the beach for us, to anything else, the staff was fantastic.

The rooms were so nice. I dont think you can beat the view. The remote shades over the window to the beach was a nice touch. The shower was super. The upkeep was really nice. When we got back from the days activities, the maids had come and cleaned up nicely. When we got back from dinner, turn down service always made our room ready for bed.

Oh yeah. Hands down the BEST pool ive ever been in.

I think the hotel is modern, chic, and mellow. Perfect for a 30 something couple looking to get away.

In terms of any negative reviews I have, there were a couple minor things.
- Our bathroom door broke and it took 2 calls to get them to fix it
- the key cards kept not working. We had to go to the front 3 times to get them working
- sometimes the maids would forget a towel
- room service forgot to bring us napkins and utensils once
- took the waiter a half an hour to say they didnt have a certain menu item while dining on the beach.

In my mind, those minor service issues were greatly overshadowed the overall positive experience I had at this hotel. I would strongly recommend it.
