Even though it's not on the beach it is a short walk 200 meters, which was further than when I stayed at some all inclusive resorts. They provide FREE beach chairs for people at the hotel.
Umbrella's are $. The water out front is deep quickly, so beware with none swimmers but otherwise fantastic. The pool and grounds and staff and morning breakfast were great.
Garden view isn't really any view, even high up because of the overgrown trees so we thought of it as our private view. There is a new IGA grocery store very close that is great for all meals and stocking up of munchies at a reasonable price. YES taxi's are expensive and there is little to no bargining as they're gov't priced per person so becareful and be prepared. Lots of great places to eat close by in walking distance and a dive shop across the parking lot. Paradise scooters just an easy walk and free parking at the hotel. This was a good choice. It also is a smaller hotel, so every one is very friendly and many are returnees.

Room Tip: There is no garden view - just trees that have grown large, but then pool view is just a pool, so go...

We liked this place more for its value than for it's amenities. It is NOT on the beach! Just so you know going in. They do have their own part of the beach, just a five minute walk, with lounges. I would recommend this place for budget travelers. It really is cheap by island standards. The rooms were clean and the pool was nice. Not heated, so it was good during the middle of the day. Staff was ok. A little laid back, not overly welcoming, but not off putting. Just nothing special. It's a nice place to stay if your more there for the diving than the relaxing. They are night next to Dive Provo, who we dove with for 5 days. So the location was great for us. No need for a rent a car. Everything is within a 15 minute walking distance, so you don't have to spend a lot of money on cabs either . Good cheap food found at The Pork Shack, about a 5 minute walk. Jerk Pork and Beef sandwiches. YUM! Across the street from there is a liquor store with the cheapest beer around. Go there to stock up your in room fridge. Its much cheaper then the $7.50 beers at the bar on the hotel. There is also a very pricey upscale grocery store behind the ScotiaBank. But it's good for snacks and stuff. And wine. . Hope this helps.
Peter

Room Tip: Ground floor by the pool if you can.

Thank you for the kind review. We do believe that we are the best value on the island.
Perhaps because you were diving you did not get to experience some of what our resort offers including a fitness room, hot tub, pool table, ping pong table and late afternoon games and activities by the poolside bar. With our spa, hairstylist, ice cream shop and 3 restaurants and 4 bars in our sister plaza just steps from our front door we like to think that we provide our guests with "more things to do" than the majority of the other TCI resorts Congrats on diving for 5 days, our water is definitely the islands #1 asset.

The hotel gets 5 stars for cleanliness and maintenance. The staff is always working to make the facilities better. Location is great for a few shops to visit and the Gourmet Grocery store. It is a short walk to the beach. There is a service to take you to the beach if needed.

Grace Bay is beautiful and there are a few covered pavillions for the guests of Ports of Call. There are many chairs also available to sit in the sun. Can't figure out how a previous guest knew how many chairs were on the beach site. Guess they must have counted the stack of chairs?

Staff is very friendly and helpful especially Ruth at front desk. This hotel doesn't advertise itself as having on site amenities such as concierge services, full breakfast and resort facilities. If you want all that then pay more and go someplace else.

My one disappointment was that the breakfast was the same daily. The owner did mention they were getting ready to add other food such as eggs, cheeses etc. Our room wasn't cleaned a few times till mid afternoon but it wasn't a problem. We did complain about the noise from the a/c unit and it was supposedly fixed but still sounded the same afterwards. We had no screens in the windows on arrival but they were promptly installed after asking for them.

Being an island there can be mosquitos and sand fleas. We had the sand fleas only and they are very pesky critters that seem to appear after it rains. We did have rain a few times. What does one expect on an island surrounded by water?

If you want a clean, friendly and small hotel then this is the one!

A big thank you to the Ports of Call and it's wonderful staff, everyone was so welcoming and accommodating it really made my trip. The resort itself was cozy and the new renovations look great. Location was amazing with restaurants (upstairs),shopping (mamas house), and the diving store all walking distance from the hotel. The resort was also a 2 minute walk from the most beautiful beach I have been on. The resort and island in a whole is a really safe place i was never worried about anything. Definitely cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: If you can book a room with a patio and enjoy the weather at night

What a great time. This resort was located in a great location, just across from the beach, with shops and events nearby! It was a nice relaxing break and the staff were amazing. They provided us with help throughout our stay and always had a good suggestion of what to do, where to eat, or how to get around the island.

If you are thinking of booking your stay to the Turks and Caicos Providenciales with The Ports of Call, you are making a fantastic decision! I went with a group of friends and had the experience of a lifetime.

1) Perfect location. This resort is about a 3 minute walk from the beach and there is also a 8 person shuttle that will take you to the beach at a moment's notice. Tristan will drive you to the beach, he has a great attitude and fun personality. Our group liked walking because the weather is magnificent and as I said before, the walk is short. I appreciate that this resort is not directly on the beach because it makes for a quiet and peaceful oasis to relax in after a day of adventures.

2) A big thank-you to the staff. The hotel manager Kendra and assistant manager Martin were welcoming, accommodating and gave us many suggestions on how to spend our time on the Island. They asked us all the right questions and suggested an activity for us to do everyday. Martin provided us with a map of the Island and provided us with fantastic restaurant suggestions. The staff at The Ports of Call understands the meaning of hospitality!

3) The resort: The public spaces were open, clean and decorated beautifully. The wind is able to flow freely through the lobby which makes for a beautiful breeze whenever you're in that space. The business centre was nice, equipped with 2 computers and fast internet connection. There is wifi in the public areas and it provides a strong connection. There is a kitchen area where breakfast is served. This area is well kept with high-end finishings. There are 2 microwaves, a tea kettle and coffee. My group went to the Gourmet IGA grocery store (about a 2 minute walk from the resort) and bought food there. We kept our food in our fridge in our room and brought it down to heat up. The bar area was great to sit down and have a drink. I suggest to all guests to sit down and have a rum punch, the bartender makes them right! The pool at hot tub at this resort are pristine. At night it lights up in different colours, very pretty.

4) The resort: The guest room, it was open, spacious with all the amenities that make for a comfortable stay. My room had 2 beds, the beds were comfortable and clean. There is a sitting area with a nice sized couch, a table for 2, a coffee table, a fridge and ice bucket. This was a great space to relax in between going to the beach and touring the Island. The windows are large with white california shutters. We left our windows open at night to feel the breeze come into the room. The rooms are air conditioned but we opted to not use it, since the breeze made for the perfect temperature. The washroom was large with modern, high end fixtures, good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner, a hairdryer and lots of towels. There is a coffee maker in every room. The room was decorated with white and accents of bright green. Wifi was strong and I never lost connection.

5) Best value on the Island. If you haven't been to the Turks and Caicos before, you should know that it is a pricey island to visit. Don't be intimidated by this! Choosing The Ports of Call is the best decision you can make. Save on your room and have more money to spend on the Island. Afterall, the entire Island is a beach and you won't spend too much time in your room anyway.

6) Enjoy the Island. There is so much to do! Go snorkelling (there is a snorkelling shop that will rent you scuba and snorkelling equipment for a great price right beside the resort), rent a car or vespa and tour the Island. The locals are friendly and helpful, I always felt safe. Try out the Caicos Bakery for some croissants and quiche. Go to The Potcake Place and volunteer to walk a potcake puppy along the beach! Check out the Fishfry if you're there on a Thursday for some amazing food, great music and Junkanoo dancers. Go to the beach! Take in the turquoise water that meets the skyline in the most breathtaking way you could imagine. This will be your perfect island vacation to get away from the craziness of the city. I highly recommend it! The people are fun, the food is great, the beer is cold, the drinks are strong and the weather is better than you could ever ask for.

Once again, a big thanks to The Ports of Call Resort and their staff for making my trip an unforgettable experience. Their attention to detail made everything feel effortless. The resort is the best value on the Island and I will be choosing The Ports of Call Resort again and recommending it to my friends, family and coworkers.

This is a great hotel with a great location. We did not have much interaction with the staff so I can't comment on that but overall the people are nice. It is literally 1 block away from $500-700/night resorts. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shopping.
The beach they say 3 minute walk - it is really a 3 minute walk and you share the same beach with the expansive resorts.
We always explore the islands and get a car on our trips so it was not a deal for us. However if you don't want to do that, this place is great for you.
Supermarket 2 mins away and you can get fresh fruit and drinks from there.
Hotel does encourage you to get your drinks and food from outside and enjoy it anywhere around the hotel and by the pool.
Free WiFi (I don't know if others still charge for wifi anywhere else. I'm an platinum SPG member and always get free wifi. They advertise this as a amenity so I wanted to mention)
So have fun here... This is the place to go on Turks and Caicos...
