La Vista Azul Resort

We stayed at La Vista Azul during Hurricane Irene. Everything that could have gone wrong did but the staff was always there to help. From finding a restaurant that would open the day after the storm with no electricity to make food for the people that were staying in the resort and providing transportation for everyone because the roads were flooded, to going to the airport to help get us on a flight. They went above and beyond numerous times. The manager Caesar Campbell and Bianca at the front desk, turned around a bad situation. They helped us to find restaurants, gave us advie about the island and laughed with us when times were nuts. It made all of the difference.

Once the clouds parted, the views of the water from our room were expansive and beautiful. There's 2 pools on the roof and small stores in the complex for everyday needs. Its also really close to the beach and the dock for boating or scuba diving.
Overall, a great place. I would stay again.

We travelled with our 2 children 12 and 6, August 14-21, we had a fabulous time , hoping to come back soon! The resort was great, well maintained, security on the property, upgrade to ocean view stayed in building 5 room 306 stunning nearly 360 degree view of the ocean and large balcony (great for drying your wet clothes in the sun) great service daily turndown, towels and dishes, room always cleaned, don't forget to tip, they work very hard! Also, the kitchen comes equipped with utensils but not the ones we needed like a can opener, a large cutting knife, and a flipper, noodle strainer, but you make due with what you have and you'll be fine. They provide dish soap, dishwasher powder, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, soaps and shampoos) The resort also gives you a free cellphone, carry it around, its convenient when you need to make local calls and get directions, you can make free calls to US and Canada at reception. Lots of stairs to climb, not the resort for you if you are in wheelchair or have bad knees. WIFI worked fine, we had 2 laptops and asked for another wireless thingy from reception no problems very helpful. Free snorkel gear and beach chairs in front of the office everyday first come first serve.2 rooftop pools and a jacuzzi, great at night if you like to look at the stars. This resort requires a walk to the beach HOWEVER, I highly recommend renting car for the week (prior to your trip, at the airport people were asking and no cars available, compact car for 4 with Budget $240 for the week), they drive on the left, there are no traffic lights just roundabouts, easy to get around, the car affords you the freedom to go beach hopping, restaurants, grocery shopping (Graceway IGA) prices for food are for the most part the same as North America just no tax on it, the convenience store at LAV has groceries, but they are marked up higher. Tiki Hut and Sharkbite were great and in walking distance of the hotel. Tiki has the 13.95 chicken and ribs on Wednesdays highly recommended yummy! Lets see, the map you are given to get around is vague, the roads are generally not marked well (very small signs in awkward places) or not at all (particularly if you choose to go on a tour of North or Middle Caicos, lots of dirt roads and bush that are considered roads, good idea to bring a compass or like us pull out the i phone, there were times in N.and M Caicos we were not sure which direction we were going) What surprised us most about Provo, the island is QUIET after 5, everything except restaurants and grocery store closes at 5 or 6. As for Beaches, along the hotel strip is Grace Bay Beach, beautiful, the best part if you love snorkeling its right in front of Coral Gardens hotel, you will not be disappointed, snorkel around the circle of buoys you will see every color of fish in every shape, lots of beautiful coral, just steps from the beach! we found our hidden gem at Sapodilla Bay Beach (go left on the first dirt road after the police station), beautiful calm, warm shallow turquoise water perfect for kids, you can go 50-60 feet in and its less than waist deep, there is also jet ski and kayak rentals here, ask for Mark jetski is $150 for 1 hour .*** WARNING DO NOT GO TO MALCOLM BEACH!!! luckily for us we were told by numerous locals to avoid this beach and area, the island is safe, however, in recent years there have been incidents at this beach of tourists being mugged or robbed for their money and clothes. Turks is an island of 30,000 people, Haiti which we all know is a population of millions in dire straights is not far from TCI, few who managed to illegally make Turks there home have nothing and live in remote parts of the bush and have committed these random acts. Just beware, lock your doors and use common sense in remote areas, hence the charged cell phone comes in handy (if you type Malcolm Beach in Tripadvisor you can read a little more) so other than that the island and resort and beaches are beautiful, (or at least they were when we left Sunday morning before Hurricane Irene) and we will definitely be back! Oh and there were no energy surplus or room tax charges after checkout she said if you booked online it was already included in the price, as well as the airport departure tax you read about, its already included in the ticket. Relax and enjoy your vacation, lots of watersports too!

We stayed at La Vista Azul (LVA) during August 12th to 17th. Ths staff welcomed us in a warm manner and made us feel like home. They were very kind and booked all the excursions for us; answered all the questions from us. We stayed at 5-303 (Ocenview). Initially, our room was the courtyard view; however, we upgraded with $22 per night, it was totally worth it! The view from the room was beautifl and relaxing. The balcony has comfortable chairs and la chaise; they were perfect for early mornings and nights to relax. Our room was studio (we are newyorkers) so it was actually just a perfect size for us. We also liked there were washer/dryer in the room. We cleaned all of our clothes before we came home, so pack light! The pools were nice. One is for adults only and the other one is for everyone. Many times, we were the only people at the pool. Overall, we truly enjoyed our visit and stay at LVA. Here is our recommendations for you:
-Beach: 4-7min walk to the beach and it is beautiful! There are many hotels on Grace beach area, but where LVA is there is usually no one around you. We prefered this way anyway.
-Food:Restaurants in walking distance- We loved the Sharkbite. Tiki Hut was also good, Magnolia has good reviews but we couldn't make it there. There are some magazines at the hotel reception and in the magazine, there is a buy one get one free rum punch coupon @ the Sharkbite. Supermarket is a bit far away from the hotel, but there is 2 small convenience stores at LVA. You can buy pretty much anything you would need during your stay unless you are willing to cook at LVA. We brought packaged oatmeals and cereal bars with us and just bought cheese, crackers and some fruits at the supermarket. We ate out pretty much everyday for lunch and dinner. Food prices are not too bad considering everything has to be brought in, but be ready to spend some $ if you want to try everything.
-Cab vs. Rent a car? : Cab rides are quite expensive. We went Yoshis Sushi restaurant (this place is also pretty good. ) at Salt Mill and it was $18 for 2 people one way. LVA also has a few car rentals, but reserved quickly. We did some excursions and the staff came and pick us up from LVA. we love to walk, so we learned our way around by walking. We didn't rent a car this time, but next time we probably would because we would like to go to different areas of the island. If you are staying just around the hotel, I think you are okay without a car.
-Excursions: We did snorkeling tour (1/2 day) by Island Snorkeling Adventure. The captain and crews were fun and kind. We went to 2 coral reefs (one was 1960's recked ship coral reef, very cool) and conch diving. They provided drinks, conch salad (from the conch you dive to get) and boat was comfortable.
We also did "Glow Worm Tour" by Silver Deep. this is a limited tour because glow worms mating rituals happens only during 3-6 days after full moon. The captain and crews were again very nice and fun. They provided snacks (pizza, fruits, drinks etc) If you are staying in TCI around full moon, you should try it!

This resort had the most beautiful setting i have seen. Everything was new, great , great office staff, excellent housekeeping staff, very clean, quite, beautiful views from every room. The resort isn't right on the beach but the ocean reviews were to die for from the rooms, you can hear the ocean waves crashing, there are also shops available right on resort grounds perfect for quick runs for something to eat, wear, or drink, and there are 2 beautiful pools 2 relaxing hot tubs. Great location walking distance to many many attractions, and restaurants. The hotel provides great taxi service if you don't want to rent
a car. The hole island is very safe the natives of the island are very nice and welcoming. This is a 5 star resort hands down you too will love every minute of your stay. we have been to many other islands in the carribean, and stayed at many of resorts this one by far is the most beautiful upscale one we have stayed at.... After a taste of this high end resort i can never down grade my resorts ever again!!! (Loved it, Loved it, Loved it,).

Room Tip: The best views are in building 4 or 5 second floor and up, beautiful garden views on the 1 floor roo...

From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed by the friendly hotel staff, who were very helpful throughout the week we were there. I stayed in room 4206 which faces the ocean and has a great balcony for sunbathing. Having a full kitchen was great for the meals we chose to cook for ourselves. The pools and jacuzzis are immaculate and situated with scenic views and breezes from the ocean across the street.
There's an excellent cafe steps away where we often had breakfast and lunch, with hotel vouchers which gave us a discount during their promotion. Several restaurants and bars are walking distance so you don't need a taxi and can stay in the neighborhood if you prefer. The Turtle Cove Marina, where you can arrange to go out on a sailboat is a 5 min walk away as are beautiful quiet beaches (with snorkeling options) that go for 12 miles. Our morning walks were nothing short of spectacular.
We rented bikes and a car and the hotel helped us secure both. One evening the hotel staff arranged for a local nightclub owner to send his humvee stetch limo to pick us up and return us to the hotel - free of charge. It doesn't get much better! I definitely plan to return.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are well worth it!

This was a perfect choice: great location, fantastic views of the ocean and we will return.
Easy access to the several beautiful beaches, explored different ones everyday, snorkeling was close and fabulous. Hotel staff was extemely accomodating and everything was provided free for our beach excursions. Parking for rental car (which I highly suggest you do), was very convenient and few steps to the room. I stayed in unit 4301 which was a perfect location with gorgeous views especially in the evening. Located close to the upper level parking at peacefully end of the resort. There are two pool areas, one which is family friendly, while the other one is adults only and that allows great options for all guests.

Room Tip: Any ocean view room would work. Ours was great.
