This is definitely a very, very laid back place. There's hardly any nightlife on this side of the island, at least, the grounds at best were ok. The pool is the best ammenity of this place and there is only one "restaurant" on site. Food is pretty good but there is not a huge selection whatsoever. Staff is very friendly but one thing to be very cautious about: after about midnight there is NO ONE on the grounds. There is no security, no guards, no cameras, nothing protecting you from the outside world. The room was pretty good so I can't complain there, it was not very modern, however. It served its purpose. Beach is beautiful but there is nothing particularly great about this hotel. They do provide transporation to the Ocean Club East but honestly, it is pretty much the same situation as Club West with a few more rooms and an extra pool added in. There were hardly any guests, not sure if because of the time we went or if this is how it usually is. Four girls with barely anyone else to talk to, we enjoyed ourselves but I think this is more of a couples or family oriented place where you would want to keep to yourselves.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

I do want to make a correction. Ocean Club and Ocean Club West both have hidden security cameras throughout the properties. In addition, there is onsite security. Ocean Club Resorts takes security most seriously. As far as armed guards, you will not see them anywhere in the Turks & Caicos as you might on another island.
It is most concerning when a guest’s expectation is different than what we offer. Ocean Club Resorts are the perfect place to relax. Intimate in size, the resorts were developed with “elbow room” in mind. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the pool - it does offer chaise lounges away from other guests. Ocean Club West offers the one restaurant, beachfront Seaside Café with the only Conch Bar on island. Ocean Club offers the beachfront Cabana Bar & Grille and the fine dining Opus Restaurant that has a superb bar and lounge area. Ocean Club West is one of the most convenient resorts on Grace Bay Beach and is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and a grocery. Although Turks & Caicos does offer nightlife, it is not what the island is known for. We are always happy to make any recommendations. If you ever change your mind as to what you and your friends may want in a vacation, we would love to have you return.

My husband and I stayed a week at OCW and rented unit #413 directly from the owner, Bob. (VRBO.com listing #243678). The ground floor location is perfect - just steps from the gorgeous pool and ocean (where we spent our days), and most convenient to the nice grills by the pool (where we cooked most nights). The louvre windows throughout the unit make for a lovely beachy breeze throughout the day and evening, and the screened porch was so nice for lounging (on the chaise) in the morning sipping coffee, and for eating dinner by candlelight. We could tell that the owners have put a lot of thought into comfort - plenty of plush towels, very nice coffee maker and washer/dryer, and a great selection of books and DVDs. We NEVER found ourselves lacking anything we needed in the kitchen, bathroom, etc.

We loved being at OCW because it was the perfect combination of luxury and laid-back island attitude. Perks such as daily beach towel service (never had to carry bulky towels to/from the beach), a full-service restaurant between the pool and beach (loved ordering drinks from my lounge chair!), and readily available chairs/umbrellas (never had to go "reserve" one early) were such a treat for us. But I also never felt like I needed to be dressed up or in anything other than my beach-wear and flip-flops anywhere on the property - a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere throughout the resort, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Also, you can easily walk to the grocery store, gift shops, various restaurants, etc.

Highly HIGHLY recommend Ocean Club West and especially unit #413!

To start with the basics, if you're going to T&C, you're going for the beach and/or diving. There's almost nothing else noteworthy about Providenciales. Grace Bay Beach is as flawless a beach as you're likely to get within a direct flight of the East Coast, and OCW has possibly the best location on the beach in terms of width of beach and relatively uncrowded and readily available loungechairs/umbrellas on the beach. The layout of the gardens, pool, beachside restaurant and tennis court is pleasing and user-friendly. The accommodations are condos, and I gather the furnishings and upkeep of the condos vary depending on who owns them. We had 433, a spacious upper level one-bedroom in Sea Drift, which was lovely and had plenty of space for a married couple (jn the bedroom) and an adult daughter and her friend (pull-out couch and roll-away in the living room.) I would recommend the upper level units (each of the buildings has three stories) for their view of the ocean. The service is lackadaisical but friendly. The food at the Seaside Cafe is quite decent. The pool is nice, although it seems a sacrilege to use the pool when one has such a spectacular beach equally available. Most of the other resorts on Grace Bay are taller behemoths relative to OCW. I wouldn't waste a lot of time agonizing as to which one to stay at, as the experience is ultimately about Grace Bay Beach, and unless you are into hyperluxury all of the Grace Bay resorts will provide the same essential experience. Personally, were I to return to Provo, I would see no reason to seek out anything different from OCW - it provided exactly what I was hoping for in an understated but thoroughly comfortable vacation on a postcard perfect Caribbean beach.

Room Tip: Upper level

We are currently staying at the Ocean Club West and are having a great time. The beach and location of OCW is great. Unlike other islands we've visited, here we don't have to wake up early to reserve chairs at the beach. The beach and pool never feel crowded. We are in a 1 bedroom unit with ocean and pool views. The room is spacious, with A/C, free Wifi, laundry, flat screen tvs. But the unit seems a bit dated/tired. The staff are warm and helpful. We also feel much safer walking around. There are excellent restaurants but be sure to make reservations - they book up quickly. Taxis are expensive. I'm finding mosquitoes to be a problem - bites all over my legs but no one else in my family has been bitten. Next time we might try a slightly more luxurious resort but have no major complaints about OCW.

I am writing this review to echo many of the other reviewers, as I noted that many of the reviews we read were months to a year old. It's always nice to hear how things are shortly before you're about to visit. Having never been to Turks and Caicos, we extensively compared prices and descriptions provided in the TripAdvisor reviews. We're so happy that we listened; the studio that we stayed in at Ocean Club West (534) was perfectly adequate, and because we stayed during the Christmas peak season, we knew we were paying a premium on the room. We had a kitchenette which we used for breakfast and snacks. We asked to be in a "newer unit", based on reviews, but were told they're all relatively new so they couldn't help us. I don't know if that is true though, based on what I have read. The screened-in porch allowed us to sleep with the sliding door open every night, and the only problem we had with the unit was the shower water pressure. Perhaps because we were on the third floor, but in order to take a hot shower, we did so under a trickle of water. I thought it was because of the time of day during my first one, but I attempted to switch it up with similar results.
That said, the resort grounds are kept beautifully and the pools and ocean areas both offer plenty of seating, fresh towels, and friendly staff there to serve and help you however they can. We did an excursion which we were able to book right there at the resort, and it worked out perfectly. We used the shuttle to head over to Opus restaurant for dinner, which was also very convenient and the rest of the meals we pretty much walked to or made in our room.
Again, echoing the other reviewers, this wasn't at all a bargain vacation, but we knew that going in. As our winter getaway from the chilly northeast, OCW allowed us to escape from the moment we stepped out of the taxi until the goodbye when we printed our boarding passes. Courteous, friendly, and accommodating, we relished every minute of sunshine and ocean breezes that we could inhale while on the gorgeous island.

Room Tip: All rooms have a screened in porch. We didn't opt for an "ocean view" room, but I don...

This was our second visit to OCW. No question we have found our home away from home. Though we've traveled to Providenciales for the past 7 years, we really appreciate the low key, unpretentious atmosphere of this property. My husband and I (50s) were traveling with our 25 year old son. OCW upgraded us to a renovated 2 bedroom unit, 735. There really is a striking difference between the older unrenovated units and the newer ones. Always ask to be in a newer unit. The staff couldn't be nicer, always a good morning, how is your day. The location, central on Grace Bay beach is wonderful. Walk in either direction, supermarket, a stones throw from the hotel. Weather was a bit changeable this week. Quick moving rain squalls each day. No worries, they pass quickly but not like it use to be....global warming perhaps?
What was most enjoyed was the wonderful people that we met. We can't wait till next year!!!

Room Tip: Always ask for a renovated unit.

After researching hotels/resorts in Turks & Caicos, we finally decided on Ocean Club West based on a number of factors - location, accomodations, price and other Trip Advisor reviews. We booked a 2BR beachfront as my wife and I were traveling with our 1 year-old and my mother-in-law (to celebrate her 60th birthday). Upon our arrival we were assigned room 122 (Sea Angel bldg), which honestly did not meet our expectations EXCEPT for the fact that this unit had the most comfortable matresses. The unit, while rather nice overall, seemed to be very worn.....especially the bathrooms. There were a number of simple maintenance items that seemed to have been neglected (lights missing from the ceiling fans, rusty fixtures, missing caulk/grout in the bathrooms, extremely stained grout (which was white/light to coordinate with the white tile throughout the unit), etc. In addition, this unit is next to (the back of) the Seaside Cafe so there was noise and extra traffic, which could be heard in the unit. So after our first night we decided to see if another unit was available. We're not usually ones to complain but considering this vacation was intended to mark a few special occasions and not to mention this isn't a bargain vacation, we figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. The front desk staff was extremely nice and offered us a few other units to look at and we ultimately moved to room 222 (Sea Breeze bldg). Hands down, this unit was much nicer and met our expectations. The interior furnishings seem to have been well maintained and the decor was tasteful. The best part of the unit is that it faced the neighboring property (rather than the Seaside Cafe) so the ocean could be heard from both bedrooms, and of course the living area. Needless to say we relished in the sounds of the waves crashing and the ocean breeze blowing....morning, noon and night.

As for the rest of our stay, it was great! The staff at OCW was very nice. The location of the resort is perfect in that you are within walking distance of a lot and considering that we did not bring a car seat we walked everywhere (except for the transfer to/from the airport and going to the OC resort one night for dinner). We went to the grocery store "Graceway" several days (yes, food is as expensive as other reviewers have cited) and went to several restaurants. Caicos Cafe (3 minute walk) - delicious food, casual outdoor dining and it was amazing how the place transforms once night falls. Coco Bistro (8-10 minute walk) - also a great meal for our date night, definintely a bit more chic but still casual, charming outdoor garden setting and the coconut pie (according to my wife, and mother-in-law) was delicious! Seven (@ Seven Stars Resort; 5 minute walk) - we went here on our last night; the food was delicious and this was probably the most "formal" dining we had on the island. We were hesitant to eat here since we had a child in tow, but the staff was assuringly hospitable and they made for a nice evening. We also went to the French bakery (next to Caicos Cafe) and wish we had gone there sooner; everything is baked fresh (& delicious) and the woman at the counter was so nice and friendly. Our remaining meals were spent in our condo or at the Seaside Cafe and Cabana Cafe (@ Ocean Club).

We walked along the beach (checking out other resorts) and also rode bicycles one day, and I have to say that we feel we picked the best resort.....for what we were looking for (beachfront 2BR with a great beach, nice pool and within walking distance of a number of restaurants, shops, etc.) and within a reasonable price range. Now having stayed at OCW, we have an idea where we might buy a vacation property once we win the lottery. :)

Room Tip: 222 - Sea Breeze
