“Laid Back, Friendly Service on Island time”
Reviewed 30 March 2012

Clean, well manicured villa complex directly on the beach. Beach is one of the best I have seen anywhere, ease of life wonderful for a beach resort. Food is acceptable but be prepared to jump in and assist with the service as the staff is not trained in "U.S. time". Highlight of the trip was the interaction with the villa owners which spend a good amount of time there. Would recommend a snorkle/conch excursion and restaurants Caicos Cafe and Coco Bistro both within walking distance. The cost is what keeps me from rating Ocean Club as "excellent", over $800 a night is in the Ritz Carlton range but unfortunately it's a standard price for the islands. The air conditioning did not work the first night and we had to change villas for the evening. The lock box was also not functioning and had to be replaced which cost me a morning at the beach. One would hope management would make some kind of compensation for the inconveniences but they did not.

Room Tip: try for an ocean front unit

My wife and I Spent 5 nights at O.C.W. earlier this month, celebrating our 40th anniversary. The resort met or exceeded all of our expectations. We booked the most inexpensive room available, the island view studio, and were pleased with the accomodations. the unit appeared to have been refurbished recently. we requested and recieved a 3rd floor location which i would recommend if you can handle the stairs. We really enjoyed the full screened balcony, and were pleased with our decision to go with the most inexpensive room. The in room wifi (complimentary) worked great and there is also a business center off the main lobby that has computers and printers. It was really great to be able to print our boarding passes there allowing us to skip the counter check in(bypassing a long line) and go straight to the security checkpoint. The grounds ond pool areas were very well maintained and even though the place was full during our visit, there were always plenty of lounges, umbrellas and towels available both in the pool area and on the beach. Speaking of the beach, you will have to look long and hard to find a better one than what you will find in front of this resort It was also nice that you did not have to mess around with towel cards or sign ins to get them. We were most pleased with the friendlieness of the staff from the front desk to the maintenence staffs. We have travelled to many caribbean locations over the years, and found the people here (both in and around the resort) to be among the friendliest we have encountered. As other posters have mentioned, the location of O.C.W. is probably one of the most convenient in Provo. During our stay we had dinners at CocoBistro, Caicos Cafe, The Upstairs lounge, and Cailco Jacks, being able to easily walk to each of these places. We also took advantage of the Grace Bay gourmet market which is also very close.
As you have probably gathered, we had a great stay at O.C.W., and have made a promise to ourselves to return again next year.

Been to many other islands in the Carribbean but this beach was the ultimate - 21 miles of clean white beach and not crowded. The colour of the sea was like none other, no undertow and no fast drop off. No fighting for a beach umbrella or chairs (have had to pay "under the table" at other places). Clean, well maintained and safe. All the amenitied you need. Within easy walk of most restaurants. Friendly people willing to fulfill your needs at the resort. No loud music at the pool. A week was too short. We highly recommend this location and will return. Don't come for the shopping or night life - its is more laid back and you are on your own (they have TV if you really need your fix). Make sure you make reservations at restaurants off site well in advance - not much hope of a walk in after 6.

Room Tip: Room facing the pool was ideal

Just returned (March 10 - 16) from staying at the Ocean Club West. What a beautiful resort! I was with my family (ages 21 - 81) of 6 and we had a 3 bedroom suite on the 3rd floor in the Sea Angel Building (132). Amazing view facing the ocean! It was a 2 bedroom connected to a one bedroom and was a perfect setup for us. Everything was provided (foil, Ziplocs and cutting board recommended if you plan to cook) from coffee pot, stove, oven, microwave, fridge, washer dryer, ironing board etc... Having the porch screened was so wonderful...no bugs at all! If you have any specific questions please feel free to send me a message. We took a taxi from the airport that fit all 6 of us...it was about $15 per person and about a 12 - 15 minute drive. While there we used the bikes, went shopping in nearby shopping center and the gourmet grocery (prices are out of this world, but hey....it's paradise!). Also walked to shops and restaurants as well. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and one night we took the shuttle to the other Ocean Club resort for dinner. The beach was gorgeous with towels, beach chairs and umbrellas provided. We also spent time at the pool which was always kept immaculately clean. This time of year the ocean and pool were a bit cool, but easy to take once you got in. The resort was always so quiet even though there were children there they were never a distraction. Service was awesome and everyone was very friendly to us. We found this vacation hard to top and hope to be able to go back someday soon. We would most definitely stay at the Ocean Club West again!

First time to TCI and the Ocean Club West for my wife and I and it won’t be our last. OCW is a fantastic resort located on beautiful Grace Bay. The resort offers everything you could want and the staff is incredible. Not a single complaint about the island and OCW. Will defiantly be visiting both again.

Tons of water sports and activities or you can just chill out on the beach. While the Seaside Café was great for most meals the resort is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops or you can take the bikes if you prefer to wander a bit.

One bit of advice – if you are leaving TCI on the weekend make sure you get to the airport early. The place is not designed well for a large number of people so when we left of Sunday afternoon the security lines were huge. Took a good hour plus to get through.

TCI is gorgeous. Ocean Club West, was a great place to stay, had a big kitchen and the rooms were clean and the staff was nice. There's also (as with most of the resorts) beach chairs, towels and umbrellas provided. I would suggest bringing bug spray, we got multiple bites on our feet/ankles while walking on the beach. You can also use the amenities at Ocean Club East, which is a short walk down the beach away. I like west better, solely because it's closer to restaurants, shopping and the grocery store. Which reminds me, BRING cash. The only atm is at the grocery store and not everywhere accepts credit cards.
The Caico Cafe, is by far the best restaurant we ate dinner at while visiting the island. We found most of the resort restaurants, while nice atmospheres, lacking in food quality. Also, you can drink the water in TCI, we did and no one got sick.
Renting a car is not necessary, but if you want to see the other side of the island is a good idea for a day of 2. We didn't make it to turtle cove, but would've liked to see the snorkeling over there. We did get to Da Conch Shack, which was a great lunch spot.
Also, highly recommended is an excursion. We did a snorkling, conch diving one. It was amazing. I recommend trying to talk the price down.
The island basically shuts down on Sunday nights. We tried to get dinner at 10:00 and nothing was open except Danny Buoys. Not that i'm complaining, Danny Buoy's is the most fun hangout spot on the island (with the best bartender, James, please tell him i said hello) but not what we were looking for in terms of dinner, although the food wasn't bad, actually it was much better then expected.

Room Tip: I believe most rooms have screened in porches. Ours faced the water, highly suggested to try to get...
