After visiting several of the islands and staying at various other resorts, I would have to say that the Somerset on Grace Bay is by far, one of the best beach resorts. Their location provides easy access to other resort restaurants as well as a short distance to shopping or Grace Bay restaurants. The staff members were friendly, accommodating and attended to any requests we had in a very timely manner.

The large suite where we stayed was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and we were provided everything we needed to relax there, before or after our walks to the pool, beach or any other water activities. Although we rented a car, there was only a few times that we actually used it, and only to go into "town" to shop.

The only negative aspect of the entire trip was the outside (not Somerset staff) excursion solicitors. At various times each of us were approached to Parasail, Hobe Cat, and Snorkel, etc. This caused some confusion with us and Somerset staff. Somerset staff should approach all new resort guests immediately to give them an opportunity to book these excursions through them.

All staff members at the desk, pool, beach, and throughout the facility helped make our stay a memorable one. This would definitely be a resort I would highly recommend to everyone.

Room Tip: The corner suite was large, sunny and overlooked the pools and ocean.

The Somerset was our home for 5 days - long girls weekend with a bunch of stressed out, over-worked chicks - They did something right, we were all relaxed and no cat fights! Definitely a residential or condo feel - we went right before season breaking so it was a little on the quiet side but really got to enjoy the tranquility we were all looking for. The suite we were in was fabulous and spacious, and the staff kept it pretty near perfect our whole stay. Everyone was very pleasant and accommodating and the food/drinks were delightful. I did a lot of research on a lot of the Grace Bay Resorts and found this one to be everything and more that I expected. A multitude of restaurants within walking distance and a great island feel all the way around. Great Job Somerset!!! Definitely recommend!!!

I recently participated in a four day yoga getaway at the beautiful Somerset on Grace Bay, and it did not disappoint. Everything about it is first class, and wonderful! The setting is gorgeous, with a beautiful pool leading to the equally beautiful infinity pool and the ocean just beyond. You never tire of this amazing view. The pools are fabulous, the beaches are gorgeous, and the yoga was great. We had a nice breakfast by the pool each morning after our early morning yoga, then enjoyed beach or pool time until our afternoon practice. The accommodations are first rate, and every inch of the grounds are impeccably maintained. Its a truly gorgeous setting, and I can't wait to return. Wonderful! Wonderful!

Just returned from another wonderful 4 day stay at The Somerset on Grace Bay. We love Grace Bay because it is a 3 hour direct flight from NY, a tiny airport with no hassles in immigration and customs and Grace Bay is a 15 minute ride from the airport. We don’t have to change currency, don’t need to learn a new language and the year-round 80 degree weather beats the cold winters and hot summers in NY!!
We love The Somerset for the privacy, peace and tranquility, (not overcrowded like some of the larger properties on Grace Bay), high end accommodations, (the units are like individual homes rather than hotel rooms), and excellent guest service. The beach is, in my opinion, the BEST in the world. Floury sand and amazingly blue warm water. There are plenty of pool and beach chairs and beach cabanas to go around. There were couples and families at the resort during our stay and the kids seemed to love the Kids club. The Somerset’s infinity pool and lap pool are pristine and newly renovated.
They have been working hard to make the property even nicer than my last stay. From the airport greeters, to the rum punch and cold towels on arrival to the yummy rum cake welcoming us in the villa, it was a nice welcome back! The new General Manager, Urmas Karner, has spiffed up the place with all employees now in crisp uniforms with name tags (a must for me who is great at remembering faces but not names!).
They have moved the towel stand from the beach entrance to between the 2 pools – much more convenient and staff can see you coming down to the pool better – so are ready to provide towels, sunscreen and move chaises and umbrellas for you.
Nadine at the pool bar is always ready to get whatever food or drink you need – whether by the pool or down by the beach.
Kay Ann at the beach is fabulous. She saw me soaked from getting caught in a short morning shower after my walk on the beach and came running with a warm towel to dry me off.
The weather while we were there was drizzly – unusual for November - but we were able to get in a sail on the Hobe Cat. The beach cabanas also kept us dry as we waited for the rain to stop. Besides Hobe cats, they offer kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkel gear. They provide lessons so you know what you are doing before venturing out on your own!
Warren and Winston (bellmen) are always around with a smile and desire to help. The front desk staff has improved greatly and are attentive and smiling. All employees seem happier and engaged. The new administration must be doing something right!
We had pre-ordered groceries to the villa before we arrived (a great feature!), but forgot to put a few items on the list. The complimentary bicycles and helmets were great for a quick 5 minute ride to the Graceway Gourmet grocery store down the road. Just remember to think left as they drive on the opposite side of the road from the U.S.!
The boutique now stocks cold drinks, beer, wine and snacks as well as resort logo clothing (great blue color!) and items you may have left at home.
Monday night they offer a manager’s cocktail party with drinks and appetizers by the pool.
The Tuesday night Caribbean beach Bar B Que features food by the new chef, Erik, and dancing on a dance floor they set up on the beach, with tunes by the wonderful DJ Snoopy (aka Winston the bellman). Not to be missed!
We stayed in a 2 bedroom garden villa overlooking the croquet lawn. It is just behind the pools and much quieter. The unit was gorgeous and spacious. 2 very large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a powder room. A large living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and garage. Everything is well maintained. There is a porch off the living room and a balcony off the master bedroom with comfy chaise lounges. The kitchen features Viking appliances. The bathrooms were stocked with Molton Brown amenities.
The restaurant was undergoing renovations while we were there, but all meals were provided at the pool bar. The Somerset is also right in the middle of Grace Bay and an easy walk to many of the great restaurants on Grace Bay. We had some meals in the unit, had the yummy fish tacos and conch fritters at the pool bar, but also went out to eat dinner (walking distance) to Bay Bistro (great local fish), and Mango Reef an (eclectic menu which included some Thai specialties and many lobster specials). The pool bar at The Somerset has happy hour from 5-7pm. The great thing is that you do not need a car – there are so many restaurants in walking distance along the beach from The Somerset.
During this trip, we went on the Vespa tour of the Island with Paradise Scooters. We visited Leeward the conch farm, Long Bay beach to see the kite surfing, the Bight, Grace Bay, the conservation center, Turtle cove marina area, Blue Hills, Downtown, Sopadilla Bay and Chalk Bay. We stopped for lunch at Boogaloos. We rode about 60 miles around the island on every paved road in 6 hours. By far the best and most fun way to see the Island.
We had another wonderful stay and will return!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Somerset on Grace Bay and absolutely loved everything about it ! The property sits on the gorges Great Bay Beach and is also surrounded by a stunning infinity pool, Somerset is well groomed and extremely clean. Plenty of comfy lounge beds around pool and on beach.
The staff at Somerset is happy to help in any way and are quick to pay attention to your individual needs as they get to know you during your stay. The General manger Urmas couldn't be more pleasant. He is on property greeting guest and checking to make sure your needs are met.
You can't go wrong in any of the buildings you choose to stay in they are all beautiful with great views ...location depends on the size you need.
There is a pool side restaurant serving thru-out the day and will bring drinks and food to the beach. They have a more formal restaurant on property but was being renovated when we were there. You can walk the beach in the evening to several great restaurants .Somerset also has a BBQ on beach once a week that we had just missed but hear it is delicious.
To sum up this is a relaxing beautiful some what quiet property ? It's a perfect romantic getaway we can't wait to go back to!

Room Tip: Larger rooms are ocean front smaller rooms are in Sterling building but views are beautiful.

Five star resort right on Grace Bay. Absolutely marvelous in every way. From the greeting at the reception (rum cocktails and hot towels), to the breathtaking view when you first walk out to the beach on Grace Bay, this place has it all. We've been coming to the Turks & Caicos Islands for years, and it's one of the few places that we truly feel relaxed when we arrive.

The Somerset offers several tiers of accommodations, from a single bedroom condo to a full-on ocean villa. We typically stay in the garden villas, or "cottages" as they call them. Our unit was larger than our modest ranch home in Michigan, with a well-appointed Viking kitchen and full dining area, to a big HD tv and DVD player in the living area. Two big bedrooms with private baths, with beautiful marble tiles.

The entire resort is neat as a pin. The lap pool and adjoining infinity pool look out over Grace Bay, and offer a sunny, well-manicured place to enjoy cocktails and the sun. The pool-side restaurant, Luna Sea, offers sandwiches and lighter fare, and has presently taken on the role reserved for the upscale restaurant, O'Soleil, as the management readies the latter for its grand reopening sometime later this year.

On the beach, we were pampered by the comfortable chaise lounges, and umbrellas to shade our delicate skin. Snorkel gear, kite boards and Hobie Cats are available to resort guests. The service on the beach is phenomenal, yet not pushy. If you need something, like another Mai-Tai, you've got it at your fingertips.

I love to read on the beach, and I can usually get through two or three books in a trip. Should you run out of reading material, the Somerset has a little lending library at your disposal. Take a book, leave a book. Awesome.

The resort has undergone some changes in the past few years, all of them good. The wireless in the individual units now works flawlessly, as you'd expect. You can even use it by the pool. There is a new boutique in the reception area, with souvenirs, should you need a last minute gift. The management team is much more attentive than in the past. Urmas Karner, the on-site manager, offers a manager's reception on Monday night, with cocktails and tapas. Yum!

All in all, the Somerset is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed, and it keeps getting better, as the management and the service staff matures. Centrally located on Grace Bay, it's a quick walk to restaurants and the new shops along Grace Bay Road in the Salt Mills Center. It's quiet, peaceful, and everything a beach vacation should be.

Room Tip: We stay in Cottage Five, a good balance of quiet and luxury. The beds are super comfortable, the kit...

I was able to spend a long weekend at Somerset, my first visit to Providenciales. It was everything that I hoped for! The Stirling House Ocean View suite was spacious and smartly furnished with modern accents and high end appliances. I loved being able to walk out a few steps to the lap and infinity pools that look out towards the ocean. The staff was very accommodating, particularly the GM, Mr. Karner, who seemed to go out of his way to ensure that there were no hitches to my visit. The Resort has a sense of serentiy, without being isolated. The gourmet restaurant was not yet reopened, but the pool side restaurant was more than passable.

Taxi service to and from the hotel is prompt, but a bit on the pricey side. It would be nice if the hotel could provide transit to and from the airport. All in all, though, I achieved my goal for the visit--relaxing while feeling pampered.
