“Beautiful, but needs an upgrade in customer service”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

It's important to note that The Tuscany is serviced condos, and *not* a hotel. This might help to mitigate expectations at the outset: there is no one physically available to help after 5 pm and before 9 am. They are reachable by phone, but there is only so much one can do to help over the phone.

The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the suites are extremely well appointed. The grounds are impeccably kept, including a gorgeous courtyard area with a swimming pool. My one complaint about the physical space is that the pocket door of the master bathroom in our suite kept sliding open. There was literally no way to keep it closed - no latch or lock. That, and the cell phone provided for free in each suite - the one in our party's other suite always died within minutes of being "fully charged." An oversight in an otherwise lovely space.

Luckily, there's also a beachside restaurant at the resort next door that serves pretty good food and drinks.

In general though, customer service at The Tuscany is minimal at best. When you can reach them, the skeleton crew of staff are friendly and nice. But it often requires asking the same question multiple times, in several different ways, before one can actually get a straight answer. Requests for things as straightforward as restaurant reservations are fulfilled at a slow pace. (They offer to help with this and several other services, but are slow to respond when you take them up on it.)

When things go a bit awry, as they are wont to do anytime a person travels, the staff makes an effort to help, but is obviously not trained to the level of thoroughness and professionalism a real hotel provides. Two examples:

1) My luggage was stranded in Miami, and despite multiple phone calls to American Airlines reminding them to send my luggage when it arrived, when the taxi (!) delivered luggage to several resorts including The Tuscany, mine was missing. Although we had told the staff several times exactly who was expecting luggage, this message was never passed onto the security staff, and they did not bother to check or even take down any contact information for the taxi driver who had everyone's luggage.

I had a similar luggage problem in Nairobi, Kenya ... and hands down, the staff at the Intercontinental Hotel there (not to mention the airport staff) handled the whole thing a thousand times better.

2) One of the travelers in our party left her Kindle e-reader at the Tuscany by mistake. Almost a month later, with endless emails back and forth, she still doesn't have the Kindle. Any five star hotel would have already mailed the item back to her, but this basic function is not something the staff at The Tuscany appear to have any experience in, or protocol for.

I enjoyed my stay very much, but recommend The Tuscany with the big caveat not to expect much in terms of service, even though the staff is very nice. If they can get the service part up to an international standard, The Tuscany would be perfect.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite right on the beach if you can. The view is truly priceless.

I am so sorry about your luggage being held up in Miami -- very frustrating to have that happen at the beginning of a vacation. We are glad that you ended up loving your accommodations at The Tuscany amidst an unfortunate start and hope you will return again next summer.

Our family (4 adults and two little ones...6 and 1 1/2) spent 10 glorious days at the Tuscany at the end of July. Just walking into the entrance and seeing the setting for the pool and then out to the aqua blue ocean took any stress away. From the moment we arrived until the day we left every need was met by the wonderful and friendly staff. Beach toys were provided for the kids, crib and roll away cot, food shopping...stocked kitchen/fridge on arrival, reservations for dinner, taxis called, helping us find a chef for three at home dinners, maid service around our schedule....you ask for it and it's there. The 3 bedroom/3 bath condo was spacious and oh, so clean. The ocean facing deck made the perfect playroom for the early risers and then later to watch the sunset. It was a great vacation....a special thanks to Shawnemae, Marzena and Terria for all their help before and during our stay and also for coming to our rescue when our home flight was cancelled.

Room Tip: Every room is good. HIgher floors give more of a panoramic view of the beautiful white sandy beach a...

We stayed at the Tuscany for 7 nights in late July / early August 2014. It is truly an exceptional hotel. The 3 bedroom condo was very luxurious and well maintained. Full kitchen, great bedrooms and an awesome screened in balcony. As a matter of fact, our teenage boys slept most of the nights outside on the balcony.
The staff at the Tuscany was very friendly and extremely helpful. Shawnemae greeted us upon our arrival and showed us around. A day later, she booked our requested excursions "on the spot."
The hotel location was ideal for us...quiet and peaceful. Although they do not have a restaurant on the premises, there are plenty of options within walking distance (and driving distance). There is some nightlife at other resorts if you want that kind of thing. If you want quiet and luxurious, this is the hotel for you.

Our family spent a week last month at The Tuscany on Grace Bay. Every day was truly amazing. I spent a lot of time researching the right place for us to stay and kept coming back to The Tuscany and I was so glad we chose to stay there. Shawnemae greeted us with kindness and is so friendly. She booked our excursions, dinners and taxi all with great recommendations. Our suite was just beautiful, super clean, comfortable, modern and a great view of the beach from the second floor. The property inside and out is impeccable. It is very quiet, very clean and relaxing. We used their bikes all week and rode to the local grocery store several times to get snacks and lunch items. We had a beautiful kitchen, so we had to have one meal in, lunch. The beach is really incredible. The sand is so soft and water really amazing. We took some long walks along Grace Bay. Every meal, every day was paradise! Thank you Tuscany.

We recently stayed in the Tuscany, this was by far the cleanest and most luxurious resort. It's also in the perfect location, far enough away from the central shops and restaurants to give you some peace and quiet, but also it's only a five minute drive. The general manager, Terria, was extremely helpful with our planning and showing us around the resort. The rest of the team there were very nice and always greeted us with a smile and catered to our needs. The experience we had here will definitely bring us back for another fun trip. Thanks for a great vacation.

Thank you for your review! We love to show our new guests all around the property, showing them the ins and outs of everything we think they may have questions on! Glad our staff was helpful, too, in meeting your needs! We are a small enough resort to be able to do just that -- give a lot of personal attention to our guests! Thanks again!

If you are wondering how a hotel could possibly have ~95% "5' ratings on TripAdvisor, if that is even humanly possible, then I can tell you that it is true - The Tuscany on Providenciales fulfills its promise, but you have to know what you are looking for. Read the reviews here, we're all basically saying the same thing (and see the end of this review for the watch-outs). The Tuscany is a wonderful location at the end of Grace Bay, is incredibly quiet, incredibly clean, the staff is very friendly and responsive and you could spend hours and hours in either the surf or the pool - which we did every day.

While it was off-season when we stayed (late July) it was essentially our resort, we only saw three or four other families the whole time (two of which it turns out we knew - small world). 80% of the time we had the big pool to ourselves, and at the beach only about 25% of the beach chairs were ever taken. If you saw more than 6 or 8 other people on the beach that was when it was "crowded"! We've stayed at the other end of Grace Bay before and this is not the case down there. The Tuscany is like an oasis, but only a short ways down the beach.

The team at The Tuscany was great, very accommodating and helpful. They even helped us find a way to put three beds (the two beds that normally came in the room and a roll-away cot) so we could fit all three of our kids in the one room, leaving us in the master sweet (big and beautiful!) and our nanny with her own room. They were great in getting restaurant reservations (and helping us change them multiple times) and were always there to chat or help with the bikes (be sure to test the bikes before you take one for a spin as not all of them are in tip-top shape). The suite was always cleaned to perfection (hard to do with 6 people lugging in sand every day) and we never had any problems with towels (bathroom or beach variety) - they gladly will bring you more of what you need in short order.

The kitchen is very well stocked, the appliances work well, the screened in porch is awesome for eating and relaxing and having a full-size washer and dryer is awesome when at the beach! The complementary local cell-phone is nice, if not very basic.

The beach is just as beautiful as the photos show, and there is abundant snorkeling to be had across the island. There's even a great spot to see lots of fish and find sand dollars just down the beach (go down the beach to the right as you are facing the ocean to where the rocks stick out into the bay - lots of fish and wildlife to be seen around the rocks). World-class spots around the island, but not within walking distance.

So will we come again? YES! Would we recommend it for everyone? NO! This is a top location and property, but it is not a full service resort. It has no on-site food facilities (no restaurant, no room-service, no vending machines, no shop for sundries) so you will have to bring you own food (or have them stock it for you in your kitchen) or go out to eat. It's not really within easy walking distance of much other than the next door bar/pool-side restaurant (which actually is surprisingly good) and the small convenience store a few minutes down the road. To get to a nice restaurant (Coco's Cafe - is excellent and be sure to say hello to Coco the cat - the best fed cat in Provo according to Steve the restaurant GM) is a 15 minute walk. The ice-cream shop (Patty Place was our favorite) is another 5 minutes further down the road, so you at least work off some of the calories on the 20 minute walk back. If you want to explore further than that you really need to have a car (the resort has free parking and reserved & covered spots) or use one of the islands taxis (we loved Majestic Taxi & Tours). So if you are looking to relax and spend a good amount of your time on the property this is a wonderful place - world class. If you want a resort with all the bells and whistles and a lot of easily accessed/walkable night-life, etc. this is not the place.

We'll be back soon. Thanks Tuscany!

Room Tip: Side rooms (X01 & X03) have windows on the side, the center rooms (x02) do not, but even so we l...

Thank you so much for the amazing review! And, you're right -- The Tuscany Resort is NOT a full service resort, and thank you for clarifying that as well! We are more of a self-catering boutique resort with an "on-site" restaurant next door at Cabana Café, no vending machines or sundry shop! What we do offer, and we are so glad you experienced it is this: tranquil setting, beautiful oceanfront condos with screened in porches that beckon you to stay and linger there, very clean condos (thanks for our wonderful housekeeping staff), and a general staff who genuinely treat all of our guests like family! Thanks for the tips on the bicycles -- we will purchase some new ones asap! We love our little "heaven on earth" and glad that you and your sweet family enjoyed your stay! Looking forward to seeing all of you again SOON!
