My wife and I had dinner twice at Galangal last week. It is Thai themed but they also have fresh fish, steak and roasted duck if you are so inclined. We were in Christiansted for two weeks and happended to see the restaurant as we passed by on our way shopping. It was extremely hard to find the telephone number to make a dinner reservation (I had to use the internet to find it). When we entered we were warmly greeted and escorted to our table. Our waitress was fantastic in explaining everything on the menu and in explaining its decor. It is very elaborately decorated. Prices are comporable to other prices in other restaurants and we felt that we got great value for what we paid. Don't be put off by other reviews that i read that its pricey. Its not..
We met one of the owners the first night and really enjoyed his interest in our comments and perspective. It started to rain before our dinner was over and he graciously lent my wife his umbrella for our trip back to Hotel on the Cay and across on the ferry boat.
We prmised to come again to dinner a couple of nights later as we really enjoyed the restaurant and staff. He graciously told us to return it then. When we came the second time we were warmly welcomed and escorted to our table by the window. Another couple came in celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary (they were locals) and we established a warm conversation with them during the evening. After another great dinner we had an after dinner drink at the bar and were able to talk to the other owner and a couple of the other waitresses. All were charming and helpful. Nedless to say we loved this place and since we timeshare owners at Hotel on the Cay in
Christiansted and come back every year we will continue to make this one of our favorite restaurant stops during our stay. You would be wise to do the same. We told other timeshare owners about our experience and every one raved about Galangal.
