“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

I went to 40 Strand for the first time with a girlfriend on Thursday and was so blown away by the whole experience that I had to take my husband back the very next night. The Squidbillies app is so flavorful and still light. Delicious and unique caesar salad, with grilled lettuce. Their open faced sandwiches can also come gluten free, which is very progressive for St. Croix. Of course, my husband ordered mac and cheese, with duck! What an amazing dish!! And I can't get over how inexpensive for and island restaurant it is, true value for your dollar. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, a little warm, so dress light, but what a wonderful dining experience to pop up on the streets of Christiansted. It's a must!!!

“Best Food Ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

We tried 40 Strand last Saturday night(7/26). We had heard about it wanted to see what the excitement was. We were not disappointed! We each ordered a different entrée and each was excellent. You need to go, but be sure to make reservations! It will be our go-to place from now on...and the prices were great!

Went without reservations, sat at bar better than table. Ate like kings, price very reasonable. Thank you Brant, Todd and friends. You rock!

“Great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

This was my first visit to 40 Strand. First the service was great, the food was fabulous, the small/large plate is nice change, and combination were out of sight! I liked that the fact that the owner came over to see how we were doing.

“Fabulous New Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

This restaurant just opened on Saturday, July 19, 2014 and is destined to be one of the best restaurants in St. Croix. It is small (perhaps 30 seats), decorated in a contemporary but cozy style, and the food is outrageously good. The aromas entice you to enter with high expectations and the food then exceeds those expectations, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The dishes use the freshest of ingredients in creative combinations and are superbly prepared. There are about 1/2 dozen appetizer selections on the menu - tonight's special was a delicate seafood crepe in a lime cream sauce, the portion was generous and the cost was only $9. There are a variety of open-faced sandwiches - I tried the smoked salmon which is served over a cream cheese potato layer and cucumbers with fresh dill and topped with roe and slivers of asparagus. The salmon is smoked in-house and was excellent. At $15, this was the most expensive of the sandwich selections and worth every penny. There are also about 1/2 dozen entree selections, as well as a number of specials. My husband had one of the specials, grilled grouper served with mashed potatoes in a mild delicate curry sauce. For dessert, we shared a chocolate rum cake ice cream sandwich with chocolate ganache topping - let me just say that you should definitely save room for dessert! The service also was excellent, friendly but professional. The total cost of the meal for two with a shared appetizer, 2 main courses, a shared dessert, a cocktail and a soda was $68, which for St. Croix, where food prices are quite high and dinner for two easily runs $100, was a bargain. We plan to return tomorrow night with a group of eight people!
