“Whim Plantation”
Reviewed 16 March 2013

Well maintained house with some records of how a sugar plantation was run. Grounds are easy to get around on. Takes about an hour. Good for a cloudy day on St Croix.

“Somewhat disappointing”
Reviewed 5 February 2013

This old plantation gives you a certain impression of how the sugar plantations were driven. main building open to the public, in addition to remnants of other installations. Parts of the area, e.g. the former slaves' quarter, are not open to the public.

“Great location with mediocre guide”
Reviewed 3 January 2013 via mobile

The plantation houses a collection of some very nice furniture from all over the island. The greathouse is quite unique with its own moat. Additionally several smaller houses and a windmill complete a very nice presentation of what period life on a plantation was like. Sadly the guide was not motivated at all only sharing a few bits of information. This guide needs additional training. A $10 per person guided tour needs to be longer than 2 minutes.

“Very great”
Reviewed 2 January 2013

Example of a sugar cane plantation. Doesn't take long to tour, but provides an appreciation for colonial life of the Dutch who came to the island all those years ago.

“Great historical lesson”
Reviewed 9 December 2012

Being a dane I enjoyed this museum. It shows and explains a bit about sugar canes, sugar production and slavery in general. The mansion houses several items which came from Denmark; a Hornung & Möller grand piano, a couch from Amalienborg (cut in half during transportation back in the day) and several memorabilia from Peter Von Scholten.
