Owner description: Estate Whim has long been known for its colonial-era Great House, slave quarters, and mill factory complex; but much more can be found on the museum’s twelve acres. Various museum exhibits include My Granny House, the Living Museum, and rotating exhibits in the North and South Exhibit Halls. Also located on the museum’s grounds is the Research Library & Archives, where visitors can conduct genealogical and historical research and purchase photographs from our unique photograph collection.

If you want to get a flavor of the Island's history this estate is definitely worth the tour. I really got a sense of what the plantation life in St. Croix was like and the ruins of the sugar mill and factory are really interesting.

Enjoyed the out buildings and restored plantation, but not that much there. Plantation house is only 3 rooms. Thought it was over priced for what was there.

If you're on St. Croix, this really is someplace you ought to make time to see. It's a quick stop and the curators have done a fabulous job of not only decorating the houses but have nicely compiled island history. We were surprised to see so much heavy equipment and it was fascinating to be able to see how things went from relatively simple construction to steam powered. How they managed to hold onto all the equipment is fascinating in and of itself. A very worthwhile visit.

I know that you're on vacation. But you do need to venture away from the beach and see other things, especially if you visit the Island only once. Columbus' landing, the F - pier, the waterfront at Christiansted, the waves at Hamm's beach, and Point Udall should also be on your bucket list.

This short, but informative tour really gives a great idea of what life was like when "King Sugar" ruled the island. In addition to a well preserved "great house" and outbuildings, there is a diorama that really illustrates how the sugar mills worked along with examples on the property of wind, animal and steam powered mills.
