This review is geared toward adults staying on the island and traveling without kids. We arrived in STX around 4pm, left the airport and what do ya know, the distillery is like a mile down the road. Tried to catch the last tour but it had just left. Their absolutely wonderful staff let us pay the 5 bucks a piece and we got to sit at the bar and have 2 mixed drinks and 4 samples. Great way to taste some different flavors to plan for the days ahead...the painkiller became my drink of choice for the week. Shelly was serving us and she was awesome! She had good knowledge of the rum and the island. We talked for about an hour while we got a good buzz on. Bought a couple shirts, thanked Shelly for the hospitality and headed out. Was regretting not buying any rum (still had to get supplies/groceries so intended to pick up all at once) but there was a bottle waiting on the table for us at Cottages anyway :) they know how to take care of you on St Croix. My recommendation; if you arrive early enough, stop here right from the airport before you even check into your hotel. Was our first trip to the island and because of the customer service we immediately felt right at home, got some good insight from Shelly and had a good feel for the culture. Starting my next trip here too! Make a right out of the airport and about a mile or so down the road it will be on your right.
